cakap cakap...BN think we are stupid?

Looking at “news” in NST and Bernama I am of the opinion that if we give these Barisan Nasional enough rope they will talk themselves right into the abyss. Always there will come up with passionate – and seemingly well-informed- statement about the need for this and that – sometimes more of this than of that – sometimes more of that than of this! Take today for example.

REDUCE ENERGY USAGE, NAJIB URGES GOVT DEPARTMENTS.

Followed by the usual staple mumbo jumbo maniacal statement made whenever anything unsavoury is being done by this BN regime.

Muhyiddin also said the government had done a careful study and considered many factors, including the impact on the people, cost of living and inflation, before deciding on the increase.

On the possibility that Barisan Nasional might lose its popularity, Muhyiddin said the hike was not based on popularity, but on a global phenomenon.

"We can be popular for a while, but how are we to sustain the increasing costs and impact on the nation? We are being a responsible government (by rationalising the subsidies)."

Right! Nothing new there and of course there is this assurance for the people:

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fah Kui had said 4.4 million of the 5.94 million households, which used less than 300kWh, or RM77 a month, would not see an increase in their bills.

Are they expecting us to believe that a 7.12% hike in the electricity tariff is going to affect only 25% of domestic consumers? Do they think that those food manufacturers who are the big users of electricity are going to absorb the rise in their costs? Who will be affected when they increase their prices? Ordinary people of course.

But not to worry because that Muhyiddin did direct the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry to closely monitor the prices of goods to ensure they were not increased. So all is well? Huh?

In January 2010 the price of sugar was RM1.10/kg. By 10th May 2011 there were three increase in the price and it became RM2.30/kg. Of course this price increase also affected the price of a cup of coffee. The Persatuan Kedai Kopi Persekutuan Selangor increased the price of coffee from RM1.20 to RM1.40 from the 1st January 2011. …and of course the inflation rate increase accordingly. Awang knows this. Mutu knows this. Ah Ching knows this and even the people of Sarawak and Sabah knows this. But our Muhyiddin still direct the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry to closely monitor the prices of goods to ensure they were not increased. Huh?

Some silp mata and abracadabra all is settled! Do they think we are that stupid!

What about the rise in the electricity tariff every 6 months to make it in line with the rise in Gas Asli prices sold by Petronas? No mention of this in the NST or Bernama report! Another BN silap mata show over!
