Quickies - The IGP!

What I would really like to say to the above idiot!
See below!

Quickies.

JOHOR BARU: The Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the eldest son of the Sultan of Johor, topped the list of 83 recipients of awards and medals bestowed today in conjunction with the coronation of Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar on Monday.

Self-proclaimed ‘Lord of all beasts of the earth and fishes of the seas’, Idi Amin rose through the ranks of Britain’s Kings’ African Rifles to head the Ugandan Army — finally promoting himself to Field Marshall

 Guest Artist.

cakap cakap...my wife, my life and dementia.

I sometimes do ask myself what the future holds for me? I ask myself if the life I now lead is fulfilling? Should there be more of life?

You see my life until about three years ago had been one where I did as my heart tells me to do. Never staying put in one place, in one city or even in one country for more that a few years. Never setting roots anywhere. Where I was living at any one time was home.

And where I went my family went with me. Money was never a consideration. I did not have money neither do I move to earn money. It was always about what I want to do and what I want to do was to move where ever and when ever my heart tells me to go - and mostly it was between KL and the cities in Australia : Perth Adelaide, Sydney and now, Melbourne. Shuttling between cities takes a certain kind of belief in one self - one that says that somehow, I will manage.

Going to or coming back to KL was easy for that was home to me and all it took was a few months before I am well and truly settled in KL. Australia was different for I always started at ground zero but having started at ground zero there is no other way but up - and within months we will have all that we need to make good of life.

Over two years ago my wife was diagnosed with Frontotemporal Dementia.

We were on one of our normal migration exercises - moving from Adelaide to Melbourne. We left Adelaide with all our things loaded on a rented truck and drove to Melbourne - with me, my wife, our son Zack and our cat Lea in the front cab. Previously in the weeks leading to the time we were to move I could see that my wife has issues with her memory and in doing things that she would normally do but I dismissed it as her being caught up in the preparation to move. It was while we were on that journey to Melbourne - (it took us a good part of the night and three quarters of the day) - that I begun to realize that something was seriously wrong with her. She had no idea at all of where we were heading to , where we were coming from and what we were doing in the lorry.

My first reaction was fear - fear that my wife was going mad even as we were traveling to Melbourne but fear turned to anxiety and then concern - great concern for her welfare. A few days after arriving in Melbourne I took her to see a Doctor and soon we knew of her condition. Since then my life is her.

She will wake up when she has enough sleep. From getting her out of bed until she is ready to have breakfast I am there for her every step of the way - or should I say every inch of the way because I have to prompt her to do all that she needs to do from getting out of bed to sitting down in the right chair for breakfast to be served to her. And between my son and me we watch her, prompt her, guide her and hold her hand every time she moves around the apartment we have - and this we do until it is time for her to sleep. Once she is in bed I will be in the room with her either working on my blog or in bed with her holding on to her hand until she is asleep. I know she is comforted that I am physically close to her and holding on to her hand but in truth it is me that needs assurance that she still remembers me and wants me to be part of her life.

I am awake early every morning - usually by 6 AM. Between 6 AM and until my wife wakes up time is my own. These are wonderful moments for me because I know that my wife and son are near and asleep and I have time to myself to let my mind meander to where it wants to go. I say these are wonderful moments because I can sit there with nothing on my mind except to think of what I want to do for my wife, my son and myself. Nobody else and nothing else matters. Try it...no urgency, no stress, no appointments to go to, no appointments to make......you and time at a stand still...try it and you will be hooked for life.

But there are times when I ask myself what if? What if my wife is not unwell?  It has been almost three years or living in Melbourne and knowing myself this will be just about the time when I think of another place to call home, another city to go to or even another country. Am I contented with the situation I am now in? Having to care for a wife ill with dementia?

I have never been happier in my life.

I am happy because the love and life that I have always wanted with my wife is the reality I now live in -  day in and day out. I am happiest when we sit beside each other legs intertwined under a blanket to keep them warm. We do not talk as my wife no longer can or wants to talk - except for a few words that she mouths every now and then. We communicate mostly through hand gestures - the one thumb up for good and two thumbs up for " I am OK and want for nothing". I am always asking if she is OK - much too often as she sometimes complains of me doing so  - but I cannot help myself. I want to be sure that she wants for nothing.

So sometimes early in the morning when I let my mind meander - like the Mekong river as it tries to pass through the delta - I do ask myself what the future holds for me in having to take care of my wife who has dementia?

Surprisingly I look forward to being with her everyday even if all I do is to take care of her wants and her needs. Surprisingly I do not see it all as a chore having to clean, cook, wash and do all that any housewife will know have to be done in the course of the day to keep the house in shape. And contrary to what I had once feared - that of being at the beck and call to my wife for her every wants and needs - I can report in all sincerity that I am OK with it.

My hands are a bit rough having to wash dishes everyday  - the water here is not too kind to anyone who choose to do the dishes everyday. Nivea hand lotion helps.

I am begging to plan my meals a day in advance - this from a guy whose idea of a meal is putting a frozen butter chicken with rice package meal for 3 minutes in the Microwave -at then end of which I will have a hot delicious Indian meal.

Taking frozen meat or fish to thaw for a meal many hours away is new to me. It is not yet a habit I do easily but I now know it has to be done or else my wife will not get a decent meal and my son and me will have to microwave a pie or some other frozen meal for lunch or dinner. Planning is the key to a good meal and when done well ensures that we all have a good meal.

So what is good about all this?

I have not yet found an answer to that. I just enjoy the life I have now. Life is good.

One word defines what the non-Malays do. EMPOWERMENT!

I have no doubt that the Malays, as individuals, have roamed far and wide to seek their own fortunes and the life they want - whether far from the maddening crowd or, if they so choose, plunge themselves into the hustle and bustle that waits for those who are game enough to seek material gain through hard work and gainful employment. There are not many of them in Melbourne but I do see Malays out and about in the city - mostly young Malays - the guys conservatively dresses and the girls with their head covered - one foot still in Malaysia and the other tentatively trying out the Western world that they now find themselves in. Time will ease their discomfort in trying to blend into another world and I know that they will be the better for it.

The Malays as a people are adjusting to the realities of a world much changed from the one they were born in. The world they were comfortable with when growing up is now rapidly changing. Whether the change is for better or for worse is a personal judgement but adjust to it the Malays must for this new world does not suffer fools easily. By fools I mean those who are not able to take cognizance of the changes around them and adjusting accordingly so as to allow themselves to be part of it, will be left by the wayside.

So Umno now tells the Malays the getting and holding on to political power. the use of the Malay numerical advantage to ensure that Malay race dominates, the Malay religion dominates  and that Malays will be the first amongst equals are the fundamentals required to ensure tak kan melayu hilang di dunia!

After 50 years of an Umno/Malay dominated rule there is a clear, present danger and immanent danger that the Malay culture and the Malay society will break down.

And that danger comes not only from the Christians, the non-Malays but also now comes from the Malays who are not in Umno - the Malays in Pakatan Rakyat and any other Malay who will not give their support to Umno.

This is the thrust of Umno's argument to win over the Malays into the fold of Umno. Umno tells them that there is danger from outside, circle our Umno Malay wagons and let us defend ourselves from the marauding "others" who seek to destroy the Malays culture and Malay society. This is how Umno chooses to do battle with the "others"  - a siege mentality that plays on negativity by emphasing the "them versus us" mentality justifying their use of race, religion and politics in championing the Malays.

How do the "others" deal with this Umno mind frame of "them versus us" when Umno has all the advantages of a large army and deep pockets?

One word defines what the "others"  do. EMPOWERMENT!

The "others" educate their young to the best of their abilities in order that they be able to make decisions about their future from a position of knowledge, optimism, strength and confidence knowing full well their rights, their place in Malaysia and their options outside Malaysia.

And this my friend is the way too for the Malay society and Malay culture to survive and continue to progress. We must empower our people, especially the young, to also be able to make decisions about their future from a position of knowledge, optimism, strength and confidence knowing full well their rights, their place in Malaysia and their options outside Malaysia.

The "others" are well on their way to doing this to their own with emphasis on the best education for their young. This is achieved at considerable sacrifices and costs where ever that education can be got.

The "others" are empowering themselves politically. Whether that is to be done in isolation or in congress with "others" who are similarly empowered is a work in progress but the "others" have never been more aware than now of their new found political empowerment in being able to make a difference as to how politics and government is to be conducted in the present and the future - starting with the manner in which they do government in the states under their sphere of influence.

And where the "others" find their way thwarted by obstacles and an intransigent Umno led BN government blinded by its "them and us" mentality - they seek more accommodating government elsewhere - not in the hundreds but by the hundreds of thousands - even millions. They migrate to where they are welcomed.

And how are the champions of the Malays - Umno - placed in all this?

There is no better indicator of where this Umno led BN government is at today than to look at what is making news this morning- 31st March 2015. A Tuesday at 9.54 AM.

The first news item on my Yahoo page is about the GST that is to be implemented tomorrow - on April Fools day!

GST forces Chinese shop to close after 74 years - The Malaysian Insider

March 30, 2015.Yew Chian Hooi's Chinese medicine shop 'Ban Swee Choon' in Bukit Mertajam is opening tomorrow for the last time after 74 years in business. It will be closed for good come Wednesday, the day the goods and services tax (GST) begins implementation.

That says it all.

In the above news item we see a bullying domineering Umno led BN government that is desperately seeking new avenues of revenue. BN with its many irresponsible and grandiose schemes of "national development" that has largely benefited their own kind and their cronies have already brought our nation to its knees burdened with debts and an ever increasing costs of living that directly affects the masses. How does thsi BN government propose to raise additional revenue? The GST.

What the GST will do to people like Yew Chian Hooi is now known. He will close shop.

What the GST will do to others who will be affected by the rise in the costs of living (because the money to be given to the government in the form of the GST tax has to come from somewhere!) is to be seen.

What will it do to Najib's government?

In their mind they are already spending the money that they think will be coming from the implementation of the GST. Within a year we will be back to a negative balance in as far as what was estimated to be reliazed  when they implemented the GST. The nation will go deeper into depth  and possible another Jet will be added to the fleet of Jets for the use of Najib and his family.

And where will the Malays be?

Umno will again come to them, cap in hand at the next election, and tell the Malays again the same old stories of yesterdays :

The Malay society and culture are being threatened.

Islam is under threat from Christianity.

And of course Umo needs another term in government to make things right.....and so it goes on and on and on. The pillaging and plundering of our people and our Malay nation by an Umno skilled in the art of deception and lying to the Malays. And this debilitating circle continues until there is nothing left for the Malays to do in their "own" country except to think of what of might have been if only.

Najib: Customs, we are with you

.......Acknowledging that the Customs had a heavy responsibility, Najib said the government will be with the Customs Department in ensuring that the implementation of the GST is smooth.

"The Customs staff, as the frontliners, had a huge responsibility and I wish to state that we are here to help the Customs Department discharge that responsibility.

"Customs, we are with you: we will walk together, and implement the GST. This is going to be the biggest tax reform in our history, and we will make it successfull," he said.

The Cina Apek from Singapore opened my eyes to what Malaysia and the Malays could be if we had leaders of his calibre.

steadyaku47 comment:

Since the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew I have tried to put into words my esteem for the manner he had lived his life - whether publicly or privately - but words failed me because nothing I write could convey the depth of my respect for this man. My thoughts kept going back to December 2011 when I was last in Singapore and I realized that what I wrote then and posted in my blog, in a small way, defined what Lee has done to Singapore and the effect it had on people who came to Singapore and saw for themselves that Singapore that Lee inspired and help built.

So here again is that article - in effect a tribute to Lee Kuan Yew for what Singapore has become because of him.

For me personally that trip to Singapore made me aware what the Malays have become when Malay leaders fail in their responsibility to lead even their own kind...what more the non-Malays! And all it took to open my eyes to what Malaysia could have been was to spend two days in Singapore to look at the Singapore that Lee Kuan Yew helped built.

Takkan Melayu Hilang Di Dunia? ...dream on!

I was in Singapore the last few days for work. Have not been to Singapore for over 20 years. The driver of the taxi that drove me from the airport to my hotel was Malay. On the ride to the hotel he pointed out that all the land along the coast that was now fully developed was reclaimed land. He said that Singapore could no longer buy sand from Indonesia or Malaysia – so Singapore now buys its sand from Vietnam. He suggested that maybe the Malaysian government should consider letting Singapore mine all the sand it needed from the Pahang and Perak river so that floods would not occur as frequently as they do now – this way Singapore would have their sand and Malaysia gets two strikes against Singapore: Payment for the sand and flood prevention! I quietly smiled at his logic. If only our politicians could think that clearly!

At night I would watch TV as I ate dinner and what I saw on Singapore TV gave me some explanation as to why Malaysia is so far behind Singapore. No I am not just talking about the physical aspect of development where a comparison between the two countries would be an exercise in futility: Where would you begin? From Changi airport, the taxis I took, the buses and trains that I used to the presence of a city confident in its growth and secure of its place globally, Singapore is everything that Malaysia is not!

Singapore TV is filled with programs that provides you with information of world events, knowledge about anything that you would care to know and learn about and many programs that tells Singaporeans that life out there is to be lived and enjoyed responsibly. No politicians in sight on their TV. Nothing that would allow any sensible, intelligent Singapore TV viewer to be upset at any attempt by the Singapore government to try and influence them on matters political.

Malaysian TV is pathetic and an embarrassment to watch. Talk show hosts that are so condescending to their guests that it makes me cringe! We have crowds of people being told about the latest government projects that will benefit them and the nation. What passes for Television programs is in reality government propaganda  - pure and simply drivel and unmitigated spew of useless information that benefits no one – not even the government because all it does is to turn the thinking viewer against such blatant propaganda of a BN government desperate to win a coming general election. I remember one episode where this Malay politician was opening a show or seminar of some sort by unfurling a banner with a giant size portrait of himself! It makes me want to spew!

What was more disturbing to me is thinking how all this rubbish on Malaysian Television will affect those Malaysian watching Malaysian TV. If that is the only TV they watch then what chance do these people have of developing into a better human being? We have been told that we are what we eat…well I think what our government allow our people to watch on TV and read in the media is what we will be: a people blinkered and oblivious to the world outside.

But as a Malay what saddens me is that the politics within UMNO defines us Malays as we have never been defined before. Before this the Malays saw themselves as a people who went about their life with a quiet dignity secure in the knowledge that as a people, they had the respect of the other races and felt themselves worthy of being Malays – son of the soils. More important we had a sense of self worth.

Today the ugliness of the Malay persona is now no longer a matter than can be kept within the confines of family and the Malay community. How can it be kept from the public domain when Malays are ridicule and laughed at as they try to walk along the path where others have walked – and in trying to do so they have failed miserably. Failed because they are ill equipped to compete on a level playing field with the other races.

This is not something that UMNO can sweep under the carpet anymore.

Today it is the Malays themselves who have realized the dire situation that they are in. This is what the Malays now know of themselves.

There are no great Malay leaders in this country of ours any more. All our leaders, without exception, has in one-way or another, failed us – and yet having failed they still insists that their right to remain a Malay leader is unaffected. The Malay leaders of today are a joke!

The education of our young has not prepared or equipped them to compete on a level playing field against non-Malays in Malaysia and against others when they go overseas. They have failed miserably from their ability to master the English Language to their ability to interact and handle the intricacies of living amongst non-Malays.

I have been shamed countless times when in conversation with Malay students in Australia – not only by their woefully inadequate ability to speak decent English but more worrying in the blinkered approach to education with the ‘them’ and ‘us’ approach to everything – from social interactions to having no understanding that we must celebrate diversity – not treat it as a threat to our Malay ethnicity, to our religion and to our way of life. That they have failed to do so is painfully obvious to me as a Malay – what more to the people they meet. But ignorance is bliss and these students are unable to comprehend that they are looked upon as an object to be pitied rather then laughed at. And so these students go about their education oblivious to their failings. Katak di bawah tempurong!

The Malays can no longer ignored the reality that the non-Malays are way ahead by leaps and bounds in all things Malaysians: Business, Education, civil society and even respect and dignity of their own race.

How is this possible when the Malays have complete control of government since Merdeka and should and did have control over all aspects of life in Malaysia?

How is this possible when the Malays have 9 Sultans and numerous Governors as the constitutional head of state?

How is this possible when the Malays numerically overwhelmed all the other races put together?

And yet all this advantages have made the Malays into a people that can no longer hold their head nobly whatever their circumstances simply because the Malay dominated Barisan Nasional government has failed in their much stated purpose of Ketuanan Melayu.

Failed not in the getting of the Ketuanan Melayu but failed in the manner in which Ketuanan Melayu is used to further NOT The Malay interest but to further UMNO’s interest.

And therein lies the tragedy of the Malays! AN UMNO that takes for themselves what should really be for the Malays.

And it is in the leaders of UMNO that we see the worst of the Malays acting out what the Malays have now become! These UMNO leaders are the epitome of greed, corruption and thievery of the nations wealth for their own pockets.

That the Malays have now lost their sense of pride and dignity because of the misdeeds and abuse by UMNOI politicians of the public office they hold is of no concern to these UMNO Malays. The behavior of these UMNO leaders now mirrors that of the Sultans who have long ago surrendered any dignity they might still have and any claims to being Malay leaders by their decadent lifestyle that they lead on the money they get from the Rakyat.

Are they Malays powerless to stop their leaders from taking them further down the road of lost respect and lost dignity. How not to lose respect for a Malay leader like Najib? In fact look at the families of all the Prime Ministers of Malaysia bar Tunku : Malays all of them: And all of them in one way or the other have profited hideously from the office of Prime Minister.

And with Najib he goes a step further. The emergence of a wife that thinks that being the wife of the Prime Minister entitles her to be styled First Lady of Malaysia!

What these Malays leaders are doing are being aped by other Malays in position of trust and power – where the getting of wealth by any means possible have brought into existence of at least two generations of Malays that have been brought to believe that Malaysia owes them a living: ask not what you can do for your country but ask what your country can do for you!

Two generations of Malays totally spoiled and weaken to expect something for nothing by a UMNO totally devoid of any interest in furthering the interest of any Malay what more other Malaysian, other then of themselves!

I am ashamed of being Malay. Ashamed because of the deeds and actions taken by UMNO in the name of the Malays. How can I not be ashamed that a Malay Minister of Defense have seen it fit to allow a good friend of his to profit RM$500 million merely by arranging for the Malaysian government to buy French Submarines?

How can I not be ashamed of these Malay leaders when a Malay Prime Minister – well almost a Malay Prime Minister! – saw it fit to use the people’s money  - to the tune of RM$1 billion - to bail out the shipping company of his son!

How can I not be ashamed when a Minister, no less, is sent as our Ambassador in Washington after being caught out for outraging the modesty of a waitress serving him!

These Malays do more damage to the Malays at large then to themselves.

The Malays had Dato Onn, Tunku, Tun Razak, Tun Hussein Onn, Tun Dr Ismail Ali, Ghazali Shafie …all great Malay leaders whose duty was to the Malays and to Malaysia and all Malaysians!

Who do we have now? Malay leaders whose idea of being great is having the latest model Mercedes and living in mansions paid for by their thieving of the people's money    and taking actresses or singers for their wives and mistresses! And the Malay singers and actresses who thinks that these ageing lotharios is a good catch probably defines the materialistic mind frame that permeates too many Malays everywhere.

It pains me to see the Malays like this. It pains me even more when the most concerned of people are not the Malay leaders but the other races who are witness to the Malay fall from grace. The non Malays worry for the Malays more then the Malay leaders because they know that until the Malays are energized to do something for themselves by getting rid of these useless Malay leaders, then they too would have to bear the brunt of the corruption and the rape and pillage of their country by these UMNO leaders.

Let us all realize that we are all in this together. What the Malays are now enduring the other races are also enduring and we can only get out of this impasse by working together.

The irony that I as a Malay is mocking and putting down my own race is not lost on me. Cutting off my nose to spite my face! For me UMNO has cut of the Malay nose a long time ago. PKR is not far behind because here again is a Malay dominated political entity that is run by Malays who presumes it is their right to do as they please in PKR because they are the leaders of PKR. If UMNO has cut of the nose of the Malay face then PKR is working on the ear!

I say all this because it needs to be said. It cannot be ignored that the Malays have now lost their way in a country they call their own. If they cannot see themselves being so then I will point that out to them. If you want to assail me for being a turncoat to my own race by living in Australia – let me tell you this. A Malay is still a Malay wherever he or she is.

Open your eyes, engage your brains. Think and ask yourself if you are proud to be a Malay in Malaysia today. I am not. I no longer wish to refer to myself as a Bumiputra because being a Bumiputra does not make me any more a Malay as a Chinese would be more a Chinese if he lives in China or an Indian in India!

Being a bumiputra is an embarrassment to anyone today because it denotes an unfairness within a society that tells you that birth, race and religion entitles you to being someone else other then what you are not – a first amongst equal. Today privileges of birth no longer hold any sway over civilized societies  - be you a Sultan or the son of a Prime Minister. Everything that you want to be must be earned through hard work and decent labor. And this is why the position of the Malays in Malaysia have long ago been compromised by an UMNO government that sees the Malays only as a tool to further their hold on power in this country.

But having had power for the last 53 years UMNO has not discarded the Malays  - no they still have need of the Malays to win the next general elections and the next and the next!  The question now is whether we Malays will let them use us anymore!

My fellow Malays look around you and ask yourself why we now like this? We allow our leaders to engage in gutter politics! They no longer talk about extra marital sex as being against Islam – today it is sodomy! Today it is Malay leaders who take second wives without the knowledge of their first wives. Today it is about using religion to threaten and cowered the other races into threading softly in their own country on pain of being branded anti Islam and anti Malays.

Takkan Melayu hilang di dunia!

Let me tell you Malays this. We Malays were never on the world stage! The Chinese were. The Indians were. Not the Malays. So please wake up from the UMNO induced slumber that our people have been in for so long. Fifty-three years to be exact! Our Malay Prime Minister today does not have half the respect the Malay Penghulu used to have in the days when the Penghulus in the kampongs were leaders of the Malays in the rural areas.

But this I know. As a human being we are responsible for who we are and who we want to become. Against all odds the Chinese and other races have survived in Malaysia. Survived better then the Malays. It is time we Malays cast aside these useless Malay leaders that lives off our ethnicity to only further their own vested interests not the Malays.

They are Malay leaders amongst us now that can provide us with an enlighten leadership to take not only the Malays but also all Malaysians towards a better Malaysia. Nurrul for one. But only because she has not had the time to be what her father and so many Malay leaders have now become : UMNO in their thinking, UMNO in their actions and UMNO in the promotion of no other interest but their own. The worry is that given time Nurrul would be what her father is today – a man who held so much promise for the future of our race and our country and yet delivered so little. Let us make sure that Nurrul will not fail. The Malays will not survive another Najib or another Anwar!

I came across this youtube video and wondered which of the following reaction would be appropriate:
  • Cringe in embarrassment at Ustaz interpretation of what is written in the Koran
  • Be incredulous that this Ustaz would deem it his duty to tell other Muslims that using pirated software belonging to an infidel is kosher.
  • Be thankful that he has introduced me to a potentially lucrative market of selling pirated software to Muslims and be protected by the Koran.
 What say you?

cakap cakap ....No matter on which side of the political fence you sit on, you need to make that decision of whether what is illegal can be right and what is legal can be wrong.

It is now 6.56 AM here in Melbourne and 3.58 AM in KL. I am debating between wanting to write about what is in my heart against what is in my head.

My heart tells me to write about the consequences for our nation that has, among others, a Chief Justice, an Attorney General, an Inspector General of Police and possible a Bank Governor (all of whom have responsibility and a vital role to play in upholding the integrity and democratic values of our nation) - what are the consequences for that country when these people and others, have sold their body and soul to a corrupt Umno led BN government?

While my heart tells me to write about this because of what we see happening around us, my head asks me what proof do I have to make such allegations?

To follow the dictates of one without the other would make me ill at ease for I know that when you allow your heart to rule your head then chaos will prevail and yet I know the logic of the head sometimes needs the passion that can only comes from the heart if what the head dictates is to be done.

Our country is in danger of allowing our people to be ruled by their heart rather than their head. Too many of our people are engaged in acrimonious debate over issues that is happening around them - and they do so increasingly with their heart rather than with their head because it seems to them that the rule of law and decency have gone to the dogs.

Did you remember the revulsion and disgust you felt at seeing Anwar Ibrahim in the aftermath of a beating by the Inspector General of Police?

And remember the forlorn image of Teoh Beng Hock lying on the pavement underneath the MACC  office from which we are told, he has jumped?

There are many similar images that have troubled us all greatly because it brings into question what action has been taken by the authorities to have resulted in those horrific circumstances. These are images that will not go away and no matter what explanation, clarification and "no stone unturned" investigations are conducted to explain the legality of what the authorities do in these circumstance, for most of us, it is not a question of what is legal and what is illegal, but a question of what is right and what is wrong!

A few days back we are again confronted by the image of opposition MP's being detained by the Police. One was of Rafizi handcuffed, barefoot and in Remand Uniform.

On Saturday I posted that image with a comment from Tony Pua calling the Police "Bastards. Real Bastards".

By 6 AM Monday morning there were over 1000 clicks on that posting. For me those numbers indicates that there are people out there wanting to know what is going on with Rafizi. I have my own opinion of Rafizi and I can assure you that they are not complimentary because I see him as a brash, opinionated MP still wet behind his ears.

That was yesterday!

Today I still think him a brash and opinionated MP still wet behind his ears but there is now a grudging respect for how he carries himself under duress and I now start my own journey towards taking him seriously as an elected representative willing to endure much in his work to represent the people who elected him.

And this morning we are told that the Police broke Rafizi Ramli's office door at the PKR headquarters in Petaling Jaya in a raid.

The Police act on the orders of the government of the day and the government of the day had decided that  opposition MP's and anyone else actively working to unseat the BN government are involved in an illegal act - hence the crackdown by the police on their activities.

Today the question many many Malaysians are asking themselves is this :

In many things, many issues many situations, what is legal and what is illegal is subjective. It depends on which side of the fence you sit. In the end it is a matter of what YOU think is right and what is wrong - especially when the actions of the government gives you cause to think so.

To many Malaysians what happened to Anwar Ibrahim, to Teoh Beng Hock, to Kugan, to Altantuya, to the many murdered in Police Custody is wrong.

Corruption is wrong.

The use of government jets by Rosmah for whatever purposes - is wrong.

When something is wrong in the eyes of the Rakyat - nothing the government do can make it right.

And when enough Malaysians feels strongly enough that it is wrong then we have chaos and mayhem as the majority makes their dissent known - even if the government of the day insists that what is being done by them is legal and what is being done by the dissenting Malaysians are not.

The rule of Law then becomes impossible.

This Umno led BN government has been imposing their considerable political will upon us all for the past three decades. As this BN government grows bolder in imposing their political will upon all of us so do their expectations that those in government should also reflect that political will!

There have done so at will since the time of Mahathir when he did away with the CJ - Tun Salleh Abbas - and appointed Judges and AG's that would do his bidding.

They have done so in Government departments by appointing KSU's and those holding key government positions who would do their bidding in implementing their various decisions and policies not to favor the people of Malaysia but to favor BN politicians and their cronies for financial gain!

They have done so by appointing people within the Electoral Commission who make decision to favor BN in elections.

The religious bodies and authorities too have not been spared these despicable attempts by BN to use religion as a tool for political advancement.

And now it would seems that in this Khalid they at last have an IGP who not only will jump when asked by his political masters but will also ask how high his political masters wants him to jump.

And this is why I asked earlier  - what are the consequence for a country that has a Chief Justice, an AG and an IGP and possibly a Bank Governor, among others, who have sold their body and soul to a corrupt government?

For to all intents and purposes....we are now that country!

In Malaysia the rule of law is suspect because this BN government, by it abuse and use of the powers within its grasps for political gain have, by default, now allowed its people to be the judge of what is right and what is wrong!

When it is the people who decide what is right and what is wrong what then happens to the rule of law and the authority of those whose responsibility it is to see that rule of law being implemented?

That is the position that the AG, the CJ, the Bank Negara Governor and the IGP, among others, now find themselves  in. In what they do, are they doing their duty to King, country and its people or are they furthering the political fortunes of this Umno led BN government and of course, their own fortunes too!

As I have said earlier, it is no longer a matter of what is legal and illegal  - it is matter of what is right and what is wrong. That is now for the Rakyat to decide.

By common consensus what this Umno led BN government are now doing to opposition MP's is not right.

What this IGP is doing in carrying out the political will of this Umno led BN government is not right.

No matter on which side of the political fence you sit on, you too need to make that decision of whether what is illegal can be right and what is legal can be wrong.

Decide and then do what you can and what you must to make this Umno led BN government understand that for the rule of law to continue in this nation of ours, BN must first understand what is the wrong thing to do and what is right thing to do before they talk about what is legal and what is not.

Right and wrong are the fundamentals that governs our lives not legalities! Do the right thing by us and the rule of law will be respected by all. Do the wrong thing and it will not!

cakap cakap...PAS, 1MDB and DBKL.....the stupidity continues!

Friday morning...and the stupidity continues.

PAS

DAP can lose Penang without PAS claims Kelantan deputy MB. To be fair to this guy he did say "It is unsure whether (DAP) can defend Penang if PAS is out of the opposition pact. Don't think only PAS depends on others, other people also depends on PAS in the pact".

Really?

PAS has lost Kelantan to UMNO before but will Kelantan ever go to DAP or Gerakan? Or MIC even? This guy is one of the many reasons why politicians in Malaysia are held in low esteem by many - they make statements that even a village idiot would find hard to agree with.

1MDB.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak has dismissed allegations that Goldman Sachs was overpaid through high interest rates to manage 1 Malaysia Development Berhad’s (1MDB) RM5 billion Islamic bonds.

“Concerns about the 5.7 per cent interest rate imposed upon the said Islamic bond in 2009, with the assumption that it is high, is baseless simply because the bonds were the first Islamic bonds issued in Malaysia which had a 30-year tenure,” said Najib.

I make no pretence of understanding high finance but I do understand high commission! Even corrupt politicians and corrupt government officials understand that there is a sliding scale for commissions that you can ask for projects that they have an "interest" in. For the small project & tenders under RM1 million you can negotiate - even up to 10% still okay....but when you reach into the RM100's of million you talk between the 1% to 3% range. The higher the value of the project/tender, the lower the "commission/kick backs/bribes for politicians and cronies" that can be asked.

WOi Najib engkau ni bodoh ka? Siapa kata a 5.7 per cent commission to Goldman Sachs to manage the 1MDB RM5 billion Islamic bond is not excessive? Are you of sound mind? Is it not enough that you are already stupid...now you are also of "unsound mind?"

DBKL

DBKL to spend RM300 million on new KL City Hall building.

Menara DBKL 1 has just been recently renovated at a costs of at least a seven-figure sum.

And that Adnan guy who says he is a Tengku tells us that tthe Menara DBKL 2 would centralised all DBKL's department so that DBKL can provide efficient services and ensure that it's "World Bank Ranking" will be maintained as one of the  best.

All I want to know is this : How much commission are you and your cronies making from this new DBKL2 project and also from the recent renovations on DBKL1?

My late father was involved with Bandar Builder in the building of DBKL1.  I have a fair idea who are the people who made money out of the project....so maybe we can sit down and compare notes on this....camna?

The Star also reported that Menara DBKL 2 had just been renovated months earlier, and unnamed insiders were quoted as saying that the renovations had cost at least a seven-figure sum, raising questions about the rationale behind the whole project. - See more at: http://www.themalaysianinsider.com/malaysia/article/crazy-to-spend-rm300-million-on-new-kl-city-hall-buildings-says-kok#sthash.beryNUNE.dpuf

ridayKUALA LUMPUR, March 26 — The DAP can lose Penang in the next general election if PAS is no longer its Pakatan Rakyat (PR) ally, a top official from the Islamist party has said.
Kelantan Deputy Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah told Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia yesterday that the DAP needs PAS to get Malay votes.
“If there is a split in the opposition pact, DAP will lose out,” Amar was quoted saying.
“It is unsure whether [DAP] can defend Penang if PAS is not in the opposition pact. Don’t think only PAS depends on others, other people also depend on PAS in the pact,” he added.
PAS, however, won just one state seat in Penang in the 13th general election to DAP’s 19. PKR had won 10 seats, leading to PR controlling 30 seats in the 40-seat legislative assembly.
