Cabinet to discuss set-up today
2011/08/17
KUALA LUMPUR: The cabinet will meet today to discuss the details of the parliamentary select committee for electoral reforms, said Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz.
He said the select committee had yet to be set up and details of its formation would be discussed by the cabinet, including the number of people who would be involved.
"We will then table it as a motion in the next Parliament sitting (in October)," he said.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said the select committee would comprise government and opposition members.
He said the committee would discuss "everything that needs to be done" and reach a consensus on the matter.
He said the setting up of the committee would put to rest any suspicion that there was manipulation by the government in the electoral process.
