RPK, PKR, AI and AA...what else?

Fool that I am, I have always been confused that RPK is PKR and PKR is RPK! Just as I have been confused that AA is AI and AI is AA. I now know that the first part of that confusion has now been cleared up with RPK latest salvo after salvo after salvo against PKR or really against AI but leaving, for the time being, AA intact! So for now we are done with RPK, with PKR and AI but when will AA be done with? That is the Durian Udang Merah (Ang Hae) D 175 question!

I would have though that alphabetically AA should have been the first to be ‘dealt ‘ with! How? You know…against the wall and on the count of three ‘FIRE’ – and then for the  officer in charge to execute the coup de grace – another bullet to his temple to ensure ‘done deal!’. Instead he is still left standing…a bit unsteady on his feet but still standing. So what went wrong? So far he has led a charmed life…and he is quiet charming himself when he wants to be.

But put yourself in his place today.

He is ‘almost’ the leader of PKR.

Reminds me of that Bill Cosby skit….Bill Cosby is in the hospital and he does not know where to go to find the patient he is looking for when an orderly pushing a patient on a stretcher trolley passes by – and Cosby calls out “Hey you almost the Doctor!”….but I digress.

AA is ‘almost’ the leader of PKR. He has (according to himself) been taking care of his leader’s family while his leader was in Sungai Buloh. He also was the ‘wedding planner’ for his leaders daughter’s wedding. There must be other ‘duties’ he has assumed while he was with his ‘dear leader’ but this he has not divulged and so it for us to assume….so assume whatever you want!

All the information that I have indicates that he has the numbers within PKR to take control of PKR. And more to the point he has his leader blessing to do so. So what is preventing him from doing so?

Political wisdom will tell you that one will take whatever one can get away with in politics – and that includes commission, bribes, donations and of course power aka positions of authority.

Is he waiting for his ‘dear leader’ to be put away first? Is DAP and PAS – despite shutting one eye and closing the other – still does carry the big stick making AA nervous about assuming the position? It is all so intriguing and full of ‘guesstimations!’

I suggest we wait for the time being. I have my thoughts and these thoughts are centered around what they do after a boxer receives that knockout punch. You know where the referee starts the count. One, two , three, four….with AA he is the one that got the knockout punch and the referee has reached the count of four or five!                

If he gets up by the count of nine then PKR is f#*ked. If he does not get up at the count of nine then he is F#*ked! So you will have to tell me whether you want him to get up or to stay down at the count of nine. Me? Nak cakap salah, tak cakap salah…jadi semua serba salah but the conventional wisdom indicates there is another A in there somewhere...a NIA!

UPSI demo: Cop says scuffles happened in heat of moment

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 1 — A Perak police officer defended today the force’s rough treatment and subsequent arrest of student activists, who refused to disperse in a pre-dawn campus rally, saying scuffles happened in the heat of the moment and were not planned.

Excuse me you stupid goon of a Police Officer....the whole idea of having a Police Force is to have men who are trained and discipline enough to enforce law and order. Police Officer do not whack or shoot people in the heat of the moment - as PDRM obviously do with all those suspects murdered under PDRM custody. And all those unarmed men murdered in shoot outs with armed but indiscipline policemen.

What happens when we have armed police officers that are not trained to maintained discipline under duress - we have PDRM! From the IGP who whacked Anwar Ibrahim in the heat of the moment until yesterday when you whacked unarmed students in the heat of the moment too!

PUTRAJAYA, Dec 29 (Bernama) -- The alleged use of tithe funds as advance payment for legal fees incurred by Minister in the Prime Minister''s Department Jamil Khir Baharom and two others was a political ploy, said Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP) secretary Datuk Che Mat Che Ali.

Brushing aside the claim, Che Mat, who is also Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department director, said in fact the legal fees were paid through a government grant.

"It is not true that we had misappropriated tithe funds as we are here protect the sanctity of Islam and the credibility of MAIWP," he told reporters at his office here today.

The Auditor-General''s Report 2010 has claimed that RM63,650 was withdrawn from the MAIWP tithe fund to settle advance legal costs incurred by Jamil, Che Mat and Federal Territory syarie chief prosecutor Shamsuddin Hussain.

Yesterday, MAIWP chief executive officer Dr Muhammad Yamin Ismail said MAIWP has a special allocation from government grants to settle legal fees.

And we start the year with the beating of Muhammad Safwan in the early hours of this year by the hated PDRM under orders of this insidious Barisan Nasional Government controlled by UMNO! How very apt!

UMNO talks about giving students more freedom in political matters and they start the year by beating the crap out of 100 students staging a peaceful assembly in front of the Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjong Malim….until today a sleepy town more famous for its Pau then for anything else…but not any more!

I hope to God that this will be the catalyst that will start the student revolt against UMNO and Barisan Nasional! 

I hope that all students and our young rakyat will say enough and start the process of understanding what this Barisan Nasional Government really stands for. Simply put this Barisan Nasional thinks nothing of beginning the new year by beating 100 UPSI students. 

And why do they do this?

They do this to put fear into our students minds.

They do this to show all of us that if you do not support Barisan Nasional we beat the crap out of you.

They do this to tell us all that UMNO will do and can do whatever they want to anybody they want , whenever and wherever they want. And you know what is the truth? Yes they can! And these 100 students at UPSI is an example of that!

But even as UMNO and Barisan Nasional flex their muscles by beating their own Rakyat we know that they have started to look over their shoulders even as they walk the corridors of power in Putrajaya! Even as they swagger their way amongst us for they know that our anger at them simmers just below the breaking point. This anger will rage into a wildfire soon…very soon. What happened to the students at UPSI this morning will fan this rage.

Do not forget the fire that is burning within us. The fire that burns for Teoh Beng Hock, for Kugan, for Aminulrasyid, for Sarbani and the many others that have died needlessly simply because this Barisan Nasional Government thinks that might is right. 

Do not forget Altantuya – NEVER forget Altantuya because the senseless murder of this young Mongolian women by two UTK operatives and the tale of greed and abuse of executive power by those in power is a classic example of what UMNO is all about :

UMNO is deceit. 

UMNO is Greed. 

UMNO is all about abuse of what trust the Rakyat has placed in them.

And so on this first day of 2012 we go into another year that will end  I hope, with Najib no longer PM.

With UMNO and Barisan NAsional no longer in government.               

With the Rakyat firmly in control of those who are in government on their behalf…..whoever that government is!

The police are accused of using brutality in dispersing students who had gathered to demand academic freedom.

PETALING JAYA:  Student activists saw an ominous start to the new year when about 100 of them were violently dispersed by the police for staging a peaceful assembly in front of the Universiti Perguruan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in Tanjung Malim early this morning.

The students had started gathering since 12.30am to demand for academic freedom and to protest against the Universities and University Colleges Act. They had also wanted the UPSI to drop charges against student leader Adam Adli.

Adam, an UPSI student, has been charged with disciplinary action by the university for replacing a flag depicting the Prime Minister’s face with a banner proclaiming academic freedom two weeks ago.

The police, with the participation of the Federal Reserve Units, made their move to disperse the students at about 2.30am, in the process arresting at least 17 students, including Adam Adli.

Two of the students were arrested while making a police report, and one for shouting at the police to release the arrested students. The arrested students are all being held at the Tanjung Malim police station (photo).

Students also claimed that the police acted in a brutal manner in dispersing them, as a result causing injuries to some students.

Some eye-witnesses said that one student, Muhammad Safwan Anang, was allegedly assaulted by at least eight police personnel.

Muhammad Safwan, a student leader, had been admitted to the Slim River Hospital in a serious condition, including suffering from a broken cheekbone.

Calls for release
The police came under severe condemnation for the heavy tactics against the students.

Lawyers For Liberty’s Fadiah Nadwa Fikri said the police had unlawfully used excessive force against peaceful and unarmed students.

She urged the authorities to immediately release the arrested students and take action against the police officers who had been involved in using excessive force against the students.

Meanwhile PKR’s communications director Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad also criticised the police over their actions.

“This violence makes a mockery of the Prime Minister’s Malaysia Day speech and so-called Transformation Agenda,” he said, referrring to Najib Tun Razak’s promise of political reforms.

KENYATAAN RASMI PMUKM : KEZALIMAN TINDAKAN FRU MEMBELASAH MAHASISWA DALAM MENYURAIKAN “HIMPUNAN” DI UPSI.

Persatuan Mahasiswa Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PMUKM) memandang serius akan tindakan yang diambil oleh Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) dalam menangani isu yang berlaku di Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) pada awal tahun baru 2012.

PMUKM menyelar sekeras-kerasnya tindakan FRU membelasah mahasiswa dalam menyuraikan perhimpunan di UPSI. Pengerusi BEBAS, Saudara Safwan Anang di laporkan kritikal dan beberapa mahasiswa lain yang turut tercedera dengan tindakan zalim pihak polis.

Ini merupakan satu tindakan yang tidak wajar kerana secara terang-terangan bertentangan dengan roh Perlembagaan Persekutuan yang sememangnya memberi hak kebebasan kepada rakyat untuk berhimpun dan menyuarakan pendapat.

Sekalipun himpunan ini dilihat sebagai satu perkara yang boleh mengganggu-gugat keselamatan awam, pihak polis tidak sewajarnya menggunakan kekerasan dalam menangani himpunan ini kerana mereka hanya berdepan dengan mahasiswa dan bukannya penjenayah bersenjata.

Tindakan yang diambil pada waktu kejadian seolah-oleh menggambarkan pihak polis terlalu terdesak seolah-olah tiada jalan lain dalam menangani himpunan tersebut. Ini sama sekali tidak sesuai di lakukan dalam negara yang mengamalkan demokrasi. 

Sikap “double standard” polis juga terlihat apabila sebelah pihak yang menyokong kerajaan membuat demostrasi di Putrajaya pada 21 Disember baru-baru ini tidak pula dikenakan apa-apa tindakan, sebaliknya kekerasaan diperlakukan kepada mahasiswa yang tidak sehaluan dengan kerajaan.

Seharusnya pihak polis menjadi badan yang bertanggungjawab dalam memastikan keharmonian, keadilan, dan kesaksamaan semua pihak khususnya rakyat jelata dan bukannya bertindak di luar peri kemanusiaan.

Oleh itu, PMUKM mendesak supaya Ketua Polis Negara, Tan Sri Ismail Omar Rabu supaya bertanggungjawab atas tindakan kejam pihak polis terhadap mahasiswa yang berhimpun di UPSI pada awal tahun baru 2012.

The sodomy charge against Anwar was not trumped up and he will be found guilty on Jan 9, says popular blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin.

PETALING JAYA: Reform activist and influential blogger Raja Petra Kamarudin believes that Anwar Ibrahim was a victim of a honey-trap, but quickly added that the opposition leader was given a fair trial.

He is also certain that Anwar will be found guilty on Jan 9. However, he predicts a low-key reaction from the people on the guilty verdict. Interestingly, he says both PAS and DAP would be less than keen to make Anwar’s conviction a Pakatan Rakyat agenda.

“I think it is a foregone conclusion: Anwar is going to be found guilty. PKR will certainly go to town on the issue, but PAS and DAP will not be too excited about turning the Pakatan agenda into a ‘free Anwar campaign’.

“Ultimately, there is a bigger fish to fry and that would be to focus on the coming general election,” he told FMT in an exclusive interview.

He said that the second sodomy trial “came and went as a non-event”, unlike the 1999 trial.

“In 1999, there was the ‘black eye’ issue and the high exposure of the trial: hence the public awareness regarding the flaws in the trial. This time around, not many people followed the trial or were even concerned about the trial,” he said.

He said that the jailing of Anwar this time around would not garner extra votes for the opposition.

Anwaristas and the PKR leadership will definitely take umbrage at Raja Petra’s frank opinion on the matter, but the popular blogger said even the reaction of the PKR supporters against the verdict would settle down quietly.

“For a while, PKR will rant and rave. Then the excitement will tone down and people will get on with their lives.

“Umno, meanwhile, will just sit back and watch. If the Anwaristas get out of hand and try to turn the event into a ‘Malaysian Spring’, the government will just round them up and silence them.

“The government is ready for the attempt to turn Jan 9 into a Malaysian Spring and they know how to handle it. It will be doomed from the start. This is not going to be Sept 20, 1998,” he said.

Why didn’t he take the stand?
Raja Petra, who is based in London, also said that while the Barisan Nasional-Umno leadership is definitely “out to get Anwar because he is a political threat”, the PKR leader was nevertheless allowed a fair trial.

“I know for a fact that the prosecutor agreed to handle the prosecution only if he was allowed to conduct a fair trial and without any political interference.”

“Therefore, I would say that Anwar was allowed a fair trial,” he said.

Raja Petra added that Anwar was also allowed more than 60 postponements throughout the trial.

“He was supposed to subpoena more than 50 witnesses to testify on his behalf, which in the end he did not and which we are not told why.

“It appears like Anwar was allowed a lot of leeway to defend himself. Why did he not take the stand to testify under oath?

“Saiful took the stand and he was vigorously cross-examined by the defence. Why did Anwar avoid doing the same?” asked Raja Petra.

“I do not think that the charges were trumped up. But I do believe that Anwar is a victim of a honey-trap. In a way it was entrapment, which in a country like the US is illegal,” he added.

New leadership needed
Raja Petra added that Anwar’s conviction could be good for PKR and Pakatan Rakyat.

“If they put Anwar in jail, then the opposition will be forced to look beyond Anwar.

“What we need is a new leadership but as long as Anwar is still around, they will be reluctant to do so,” he said.

He added that with Anwar in prison, PKR will be forced to come to terms with the need to rejuvenate the party leadership.

“There is life after Anwar, as much as many do not think so,” he added.

Anwar, who was once heir-apparent to former strongman prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, has been fighting charges that he sodomised a former political aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari Azlan in June 2008.

The accusations emerged shortly after Anwar led the opposition to unprecedented gains in parliamentary polls against BN that has governed the country for five decades.

The Kuala Lumpur High Court is set to make a ruling on the sodomy charge on Jan 9.

Anwar pleaded not guilty to the offence, allegedly committed at a Desa Damansara condominium unit in Bukit Damansara on June 26, 2008. The PKR de facto leader is facing a maximum of 20 years in prison and whipping, if found guilty under Section 377B of the Penal Code.

This is the second time he was accused of sodomy.

In 1998, Anwar lost his deputy prime minister’s post after he was charged with corruption and sodomising his family driver.

He was freed in 2004 after six years of imprisonment when the Federal Court overturned the sodomy conviction.
