steadyaku47 comment : Time we do in Malaysia what they have done in India in 1971...which is to stripped the aristocracy of their privy purses and privileges. What say you all?

INDIRA GANDHI –vs– THE MAHARAJAS
The Indian Supreme Court has closed the history books on India’s 545 princely families. The court rebuffed a challenge to the constitution by a feisty, 88-year old nobleman from Rajasthan, the former Prince Kurundwad. The erstwhile Maharaja fought a long legal battle to abolish an amendment in 1971 by the late Indira Gandhi, which stripped the aristocracy of their privy purses and privileges.
Chief Justice, LM Sharma, said: “The distinction between the erstwhile Rulers and the citizenry of India has to be ended so as to have a common brotherhood ... In a country like ours, with so many disruptive forces of regionalism and communalism, it is necessary to emphasise that the unity and integrity of India can be preserved only by a spirit of brotherhood.”
Many government officials were relieved by the verdict. At a time when India is shaken by religious violence, restoring the authority, even symbolically, of the old Hindu and Muslim rulers, would undoubtedly increase the unrest, officials said. Many members of Indian royalty complain that all their anni since the late Mrs Gandhi seized their purses have been horribiles. Lawyers representing the Indian princes had been demanding compensation of £22m. An elderly princess said: “Many of the princes died of shock after 1971. They had no business training, and whoever thought they would be dispossessed? Now this Maharani lives at an ashram, meditating on the illusory nature of life.” A menagerie of maharajahs and nawabs ruled nearly half of India before independence in 1947. They turned over their kingdoms, some as large as France, others a few acres, with guarantees from Lord Mountbatten that they could keep their wealth and privileges. But over the years their status and treasures were chiselled away. As Prime Minister, Mrs Gandhi envied the power that the princes had over their subjects. A socialist, she wagered that in a country with so many poor it would be a popular move to humble the royals. She was correct.
Privately, few Indian noblemen thought that the Supreme Court would reverse Mrs Gandhi’s amendment. The Nawab of Pataudi, who captained the Indian cricket team in the 1960s and who now models clothes for mature men, said: “None of us want to go back to the old days. But what Mrs Gandhi did to us was extremely unfair. It could’ve been carried out with a bit more finesse.”

The fortunes of the princes vary widely. Some, such as Madhavrao Scindia, whose father was the Maharaja of Gwalior, are among the world’ s richest men. Other princes have retreated into the armed services or politics. Some princely politicians, even leftwingers such as the former Prime Minister, VP Singh, seldom correct anyone who calls them by their old title, even though Mrs Gandhi banned their use.

Last week I posted "Dulu koling baling kerusi, now Malays ikut serta.." and a couple of people who read what I wrote took exception to my use of the word "koling" and the following exchange ensued.

You could have used "India" but you used a derogatory word that you know Indians do not like. And no apology?

William Devabalan Not good enough reason. Anyone can say anything and say they are quoting some mysterious person as an excuse. Followed you many years but time to unfollow. No loss to you I'm sure. Good luck man.

Hussein Abdul Hamid William Devabalan every guy who unfollows me is a loss to me...but brother in life....live and let live lah. And may I suggest you stay away from being a blogger...we bloggers get called many many unsavoury names and the only consolation is that we give back as good as we get. Thanks for reading what I write during all those years that you "follow" me.

May I suggest you go look at this posting of mine about Muslims and ask yourself if it is any worse than me using the word "Koling"....and no Malay/Muslim took exception to what I posted because sometimes the truth does hurt but you roll with the punches. For as long as I have lived I have used "keling" when talking about Indians and it has always, will always and shall always have the same meaning to me....Indians. And I don't bloody care if it is not politically correct to use it in the present times that we now live in. At 70 I am too old to change.

End of story.

najib thinks he can fool all of the Indians some of the time, and some of the Indians all of the time....but he cannot fool all the Indians all the time!

Najib ni betul tak ada class lah. Dah lah bini second hand...cara dia nak cuba dapat vote orang Hindu pon cara bodoh!

Who are the idiots advising najib razak? Or does najib razak think of all these things that he is now doing in India all by himself? If he does think about all these things himself, then he is indeed stupid! And to stupid, add moron and imbecile!

The election is close. Like the last election, he wants to get the Indians on side. We all remember what he did in the last election....he made promises to the Indians, got Hindraf and Waytha on side, got their support and votes...made Waytha a Deputy Minister even....and then after the election, najib proceeded to revert back to ignoring the Indians and whatever he had promised them he will do for the Indians went down the drain.

Now he cannot go down the same path that he did with Hindraf and Wayth because they are not going to fall for the same scam again.....so this time around he starts with a trip to India. He poses with the Super star. Then release a statement "Without Indians, Malaysia won't be what it is today".

Najib: Without Indians, Malaysia won’t be what it is today

 | April 1, 2017
The prime minister lauds the contributions of Malaysian Indians to the nation and talks about the warm relations between Malaysia and India, in an opinion piece.
PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Najib Razak has paid a grand tribute to the contributions of Malaysians of Indian origin. He says the country would not be doing so well if not for Malaysian Indians, in an opinion piece in The Hindustan Times of India. Saying Malaysia has the highest percentage of the Indian diaspora outside India, with fully 7% of the population being of Indian origin, he adds: “And these Malaysian Indians have played a vital role in building our country.” He adds: “I can truly say that without Malaysian Indians, Malaysia simply would not be what it is today, and they constitute a very special reason why it is so natural for our two countries to forge ever closer and friendlier relations.”

I hope, the Indians will not forget what happened just a month ago when he stood by and allowed two Indian brothers to be executed two days before their pre determined date of execution. That is what najib thinks of the Indians....he did not think that executing the two brothers two days before their pre determined date of execution would upset any Indians.... not even the loved ones of the two that was executed!
