Politician behaving badly.

I am not trying to save the world nor am I on a crusade to propagate Islam or Ketuanan Melayu. I am one of those people who wants to add my voice to the many that wants common sense and decency to come back into our lives. No doomsday pronouncement of racial or religious Armageddon! No more chest thumping by politicians drunk on power and arrogance intent upon annihilating anyone that stands in their way to gain power. Just a quiet voice that says enough is enough! 

Enough of politicians that behaves badly.

I was one of those living in Bangsar when Sharizat lost to Nurrul. While we cheered for Nurrul we were sorry for Sharizat because we knew then that she was the real deal! A hard working Minister that was the new face, hopefully of Wanita UMNO and for UMNO too. Now look what UMNO has done to her a few years later! Corrupt her to the very core of her Bumiputra challenged root. Sharizat….not taking responsibility for NFC is simply not on. You of all people, should have know better. You have enough common sense and judgement to know that this should be a “nolo contendere” situation – ask your hubby to bite the bullet and take his punishment as any responsible CEO should do when what he is CEO of a company that goes ‘kaput’. Then you Sharizat should do the only honorable thing – resign.   

But greed makes you blind to many things.  My only regret is that when it is your time to go, you will be remembered for two things and two things only. Your loss to Nurull and NFC. And you may ask why life is so unkind? Well Sharizat you have to lie in the bed that you make. No one else will!

In the aftermath of the general assembly where all the posturing by the Alpha UMNO’s male and females have been done accompanied by enough hot air to lift a dozen Goodyear blimp – all of them have now come down back to earth. We await the outpouring of contrition’s and rebukes to come from within UMNO itself for all the UMNO politician who had behaved badly during the assembly. Now that the general assembly is over it is time to mend the fences with the other people of Malaysia – the non-Malays of Malaysia! Every vote counts! And after what happened in 2008, every vote from the non –Malay will be needed to take UMNO, hopefully, over the finishing line. 

So folks wait for our Prime Minister to go into his '1Malaysia', 'Malaysia for All'  and his 'UMNO will safeguard the rights of every Malaysian' mode! So UMNO is for all Malaysians after all! Thank God for that!

What is worrying about politicians behaving badly is the cycle that they go into. In and out of their comfort zone just so they can score points with their peers – not with the voters but with their peers! Najib is comfortable in championing 1Malaysia because he has enough grey matter in between his ears to understand the need for 1Malaysia. Now as to why he goes off at a tangent and play up to an UMNO general assembly audience with a rabid display of an all out and out ultra Melayu is beyond my ability to understand. He is preaching to the converted! It is the non-Malays that he needs to get votes from. Why antagonize them?

But politicians will be politicians. They will do whatever they will have to do to go to politician heaven. And, until further notice, that will surely be Putrajaya! Jom kita gi!

DEC 2 — With the 13th General Elections a day closer with each sunrise, Malaysians are served with a nauseating fare of daily news by major electronic and print media agencies.

It seems that these days, Malaysian lives revolve around that annual gathering of rabid humans in Putra World Trade Centre whose antics would put even simians to shame.

It’s a place where foul language is cheered upon. A place where religious bashing is commonplace. A place where pots and kettles gather to call others black.

It’s a place where one race reigns supreme, not unlike Hitler’s mantra. A place where seeds of hatred are sown, nurtured and watered. A place that reeks of corruption and hypocrisy.

A place where a backdoor minister is angry over dubious goings-on at her hubby’s business venture. A place where warlords of all sorts and sizes gather hoping to find perhaps a scrap in the form of electoral candidacy or senatorships or even cow-rearing projects! Talk about milking moo-lah till the cows come home ...

It’s a place where the gathered are led by a deputy prime minister who is a Malaysian last. A place where a deputy minister accuses a political party of being agents of Christianisation.

A place where the president-cum-PM is a two-faced chameleon in human guise. A PM who espouses a global movement of moderates yet remains silent in suppressing rabid extremism amongst his party comrades.

It is also a place where the average Malaysian see the normally loud, obnoxious, opiniated leaders of the minor parties in the coalition sitting impassively, almost disinterested at the charged up proceedings.

It’s interesting to note the “Mr Nice Guy” and “Mr Cheated on My Wife and Got Caught With Pants Off” presidents of two components parties keeping their zip (not pants) shut despite the obvious racial and religious bigotry on show. If they should ever contemplate an alternative career, I’m sure co-authoring “An Idiot’s Guide to Being A Yes Man” would set them up for life.

Umno is not at a political crossroads. It’s facing execution and with it annihilation in the next GE. What the leaders are trying to do lately is akin to trying to gain a last-second reprieve from the powers-to-be for them to live, to fight another day.

I happened to catch the animated movie “A Bug’s Life” recently. For the uninitiated, it revolves around an ant named Flik who tries hard to fight off a bunch of grasshoppers.

Now these grasshoppers, they’re bullies. They take what they want from the ants without regard, not unlike a government that steals from its people to line its own pocket.

Now, as with most movies, it had a happy ending. Flik makes the colony realise that despite their smaller size, they have the numbers. Needless to say, the grasshoppers get their comeuppance with their leader getting a good blast up the backside.

The people, citizens of Malaysia, must realise that the power is in their hands. You and me, we decide who leads the country and in which direction it is to be led towards.

The time for reckoning is close at hand. The time has come for Malaysians to say enough is enough. It is time to show them political simians that we are the arbiters of our nation’s destiny.

Until then, I’m just going to ignore the gathering of the deluded cult comforted in the knowledge that the end is near.

Taken with a liberal dose of cynicism, it does make for a good laugh or two on a rainy, gloomy day, the antics of these idiots ...

PR tidak perlu “kapal terbang penjuang cangih”......

The world has changed. After a frustrating decade of trying to take down Ben Laden and billions spent in the effort, it was a covert ‘kill operation’ by Navy SEALs dropped by helicopter into Ben Laden two –storey house compound 100 yards from a Pakistani military academy that finally killed him! No Americans were hurt in the operation. An operation that took place  in Abbottabad, home to three Pakistan army regiments and thousands of military personnel and dotted with military buildings.

Gadaffi, Saddam Hussein and leaders of Al Qaeda in Afghanistan have all been targets of largely hidden actions by the United States and its allies. Even Iran has been accused of a plot to kill the Saudi ambassador. Secret help to rebels in Libya, drone strikes to cripple Al Qaeda and a worm (the cybermunition Stuxnet) planted in Iran’s nuclear program caused the Iranian nuclear centrifuges to rip themselves apart : all this had the desired effect of crippling the enemy without massive publicity in deniable operations of assassination and sabotage. And all done at a fraction of the costs of conventional warfare.    

A panel member in one of the summary of the UMNO general assembly on TV  said it well - he said that the world has changed. In a sense the West is no more concerned about “kapal terbang penjuang cangih.” It is now about “drones” and covert operations  - a modern way of war.

So why has the Barisan Nasional government paid billions for two stupid submarines and another one at a ‘cut price’ when these submarines are no longer needed as the world adapts itself to changing times? A drone flown remotely by just one pilot can destroy this submarine without putting any of our enemies in harm’s way! The world is changing! And Pakatan Rakyat must too!

If UMNO chooses to fight its election war on Television and their Media, Pakatan Rakyat must not do so. Pakatan Rakyat must show and lead a new concept of political maturity instead of divulging in kampong style rhetoric. Let UMNO pukul their canings and bang their drums.The people are not dumb. They know that empty vessels makes the most noise. We all hate what transpired during the UMNO general assembly. All the arrogance, all the name callings, still the Ketuanan Melayu trend.   

Pakatan Rakyat must tell us what they have to offer to the people. What they will do once they are in Government!

 IF THEY HAVE GOT ANYTHING TO OFFER!

And Anwar, Kit Siang and Tok Guru must deploy their shadowy, secretive warriors to hit UMNO  and Barisan Nasional where it hurts most! See what NFC did to UMNO – but Pakatan Rakyat had the Auditor General to thank for this. This is simply the tip of an iceberg that Pakatan Rakyat should deploy if the war against UMNO and Barisan Nasional is to be won.

Strike UMNO and Barisan Nasional at the very heart of their fallibility: Their arrogance, their abuse of the trust the electorates place in them, their deceit and duplicity, their plunder and pillage of our nation’s wealth and the mother of their fallibility: the corruption – the culture of materialism that their Sifu, Mahathir, introduced not only into UMNO but  into Barisan Nasional and into the consciousness of the Malays and every Malaysian.

So Much Depends on Reputation – Guard it with your Life

Reputation is the cornerstone of power.  Through reputation alone you can intimidate and win; once you slip, however, you are vulnerable, and will be attacked on all sides.  Make your reputation unassailable.  Always be alert to potential attacks and thwart them before they happen.  Meanwhile, learn to destroy your enemies by opening holes in their own reputations.  Then stand aside and let public opinion hang them.

Conceal your Intentions

Keep people off-balance and in the dark by never revealing the purpose behind your actions.  If they have no clue what you are up to, they cannot prepare a defense.  Guide them far enough down the wrong path, envelope them in enough smoke, and by the time they realize your intentions, it will be too late.

Win through your Actions, Never through Argument

Any momentary triumph you think gained through argument is really a Pyrrhic victory:  The resentment and ill will you stir up is stronger and lasts longer than any momentary change of opinion.  It is much more powerful to get others to agree with you through your actions, without saying a word.  Demonstrate, do not explicate.

Plan All the Way to the End

The ending is everything.  Plan all the way to it, taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse your hard work and give the glory to others.  By planning to the end you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know when to stop.  Gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead.

Do not go Past the Mark you Aimed for; In Victory, Learn when to Stop

The moment of victory is often the moment of greatest peril.  In the heat of victory, arrogance and overconfidence can push you past the goal you had aimed for, and by going too far, you make more enemies than you defeat.  Do not allow success to go to your head.  There is no substitute for strategy and careful planning.  Set a goal, and when you reach it, stop.

Assume Formlessness

By taking a shape, by having a visible plan, you open yourself to attack.  Instead of taking a form for your enemy to grasp, keep yourself adaptable and on the move.  Accept the fact that nothing is certain and no law is fixed.  The best way to protect yourself is to be as fluid and formless as water; never bet on stability or lasting order.  Everything changes.

Let UMNO stand on the rostrum and shoot their blanks at Pakatan Rakyat. Let UMNO tell the Malays what they think they have done for the Malays. We Malays know better. Let UMNO tell the Malays and Muslims the threat that comes from DAP and the Chinese because we know that the threat exists only in the minds of a paranoid UMNO.

And when UMNO has done their chest thumping let us all go to the 13^th general election and elect the government we know we deserve! Pakatan Rakyat always Pakatan Rakyat!
