Mahathir and Kit Siang : Our Focus.

You Are Either With Us Or You are Not : Choose!

And so it has come to this. The forces of good over the forces of evil. One the hero by common consensus, the other the villain by his deeds and intent. 

One one side Barisan Nasional led by Umno and that pathetic excuse of a leader, Najib Razak.

On the other side of the divide, a rag tag army of believers who aspire to change simply because to do nothing would invite the ruin of their country, led, almost certainly, by default, by a 91-year-old Tun whose capabilities are already a matter of record and his determination to prevail, almost legendary. 

Allow me to mention Anwar Ibrahim. His absence, because of his incarceration by BN has allowed Tun Mahathir to claim by common consensus, the leadership of the forces against Najib Razak. To his credit, Tun has willingly stepped into the breach created by Anwar's absence. My hope is that when Anwar is able and willing to lead the forces of good against Najib Razak and his cohorts, Anwar Ibrahim will do so in tandem with Tun Mahathir and Lim Kit Siang, - and they will then proceed with the avowed aim to succeed for the greater good of all Malaysians not just for themselves!

So now we all have to take sides. You and me, the Malays in the rural areas, all those who have been the recipients of BRIM, all those who have makan dedak, all those who are Muslims, Infidels, Christians, Buddhist, God fearing and even the Atheist.....all who are Malaysians and a few others who are not........ we all have to make our choices and take sides. 

Take sides against what body of enemies, over what issues, what principles and for what purpose and in which direction we are to advance or retreat are all still unclear. 

Suffice for me to say that while Najib Razak and his cohorts are driven by greed, arrogance, and hubris, the side you and me are now on, are driven by justice for all, common good, a belief that those not as fortunate as we are must still be given their due, and a belief that all Malaysians are one and that good governance by good leaders are now long overdue. 

I hope by what I write this morning you can see with clarity what will come in the coming days....and if you can, then, you are either with us or you are not. 

You are either with Tun Mahathir, Lim Kit Siang and Anwar Ibrahim, and all those that they lead or you are not. 

You are either for the greater good for all Malaysians, for decency, for grace and respect of each other's race, culture and beliefs or you are not. 

By your choice, you will know yourself to be for good or for evil. You will know if you are for others or just for your own financial and personal gain. For the higher values that makes a man or a women more of a human being than others or for those things that greed, avarice, arrogance, and hubris makes you hunger for that demeans a human being to the levels of what Najib and Rosmah have now descended - into the cesspool of corruption and greed where the dregs of humanity are deservedly consigned to.

Think no more my friends because the time now is for deeds. What is done by Mahathir, Anwar or Najib is done. The time now is for the future and what we can do now to make that future secure, better and more welcoming of the future generations...our future generations, for do not forget that our children will be among them. 

Now I must be off to do what work I can do for this fight ahead of us. I write. What will you do my friends? What will you do?

I was in Kuching on Sunday night with former Prime Minister and now Chairman of Pakatan Harapan, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad for the launch of the Sarawak Pakatan Harapan, and the support and fervour at the gathering is proof that the country is on the move involving all Malaysians, regardless of race, religion, socio-economic status or region, who want to save Malaysia from the trajectory of a failed and a rogue state.

If we love Malaysia, we must unite as Malaysian patriots to save Malaysia from corruption, kleptocracy, injustices, exploitation and the fate of a third-world nation.

Tun Mahathir will speak after me on why we must unite to save Malaysia.

It is public record that Mahathir and I had many great differences during his 22 years as Prime Minister, and Guan Eng and I became “guests of His Majesty’s Government” during his premiership in Operation Lalang dragnet nearly 30 years ago.

But I had never been personal, vengeful or vindictive – I had never called Mahathir “mahafiraun” or “mahazalim” – as our differences were always on government policies and actions.

I do not deny my differences with Mahathir in the past, but we are now united by a larger common goal to save Malaysia from kleptocracy, a failed and a rogue state, and the fate of a third-world nation.

There is a great difference between the Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan coalitions.

The BN coalition leaders talk in forked tongues – UMNO leaders playing the race and religious cards among the Malays, inciting fears among the Malay voters with lies that DAP and I are anti-Malay and anti-Islam, that Tun Mahathir, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Mohamad Sabu are all my stooges and can only say and do what I told them to do; but MCA and Gerakan leaders say the opposite and try to scare the Chinese with a different story, that I am a puppet of Tun Mahathir and Anwar Ibrahim.

But we in Pakatan Harapan, whether DAP, PKR, Amanah or PBBM; whether Mahathir, Muhyiddin, Azizah, Azmin, Mohd Sabu, Guan Eng or I myself say the same thing whether to Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans or Ibans – that the time has come for Malaysians regardless of race, religion, socio-economic status, region or even politics to unite and as summed up in the theme of the Oct. 14 Pakatan Harapan rally in Petaling Jaya - “Sayangi Malaysia, Hapuskan Kleptocrasi”.

Only a change of Federal Government in the forthcoming 14th General Election can save Malaysia from global kleptocracy, for the UMNO/BN government of Datuk Seri Najib Razak has done absolutely nothing in the past few years to clear or cleanse Malaysia of the shame, indignity, infamy and ignominy of being regarded world-wide as a global kleptocracy.

But we do not want only a Pakatan Harapan Federal Government in the 14GE, we have higher goals – to maintain the Pakatan Harapan state governments in 

Selangor and Penang as well as to win the state governments in Johore, Malacca, Negri Sembilan, Perak and Kedah.

The forthcoming 14th General Election will cause the greatest political change in the electoral history of Malaysia, based on a rural political tsunami to match the urban tsunami in the 13th general elections so that Malays, Chinese, Indians, Kadazans and Ibans unite for the greatest political change in the JB g nation’s history.

Most of the news that I hear coming from K Hell, Jakarta, London, Canada and from other parts of the globe where Malaysian are now living and "talking" to each other....are not good....depressing even. There is a sense of hopelessness felt by all...quite like that of the impending death of a loved one. 

From Jakarta tonight I received this : "I have already advise Tun aide to starts tie with Indonesia.But they ignore, its seem that Indonesia is not that important for Tun and team.I also advise Tun ..... to starts ties with Indonesia NGO...but no reply. Then let it be..."

From Malaysia a comment from Sam Sudin on the furor created by Shabudin the umno/bn MP who tells us that "nine year old can marry to solve rape"...Sam Sudin says "This could be a tactic to get spotlight off 1 MDB prevailing issues. Sacrifice something of such idiocracy in order to divert the attention" and from Abdullah Osman "Stupidity cannot be unlearned".

Negativity permeates most discussions and debate about the future of our beloved Malaysia and no one knows what the future will bring because to all intent and purposes, the grasp that najib and his cohorts has over all things Malaysian seems to be total....choking away all that is left of democracy and whatever freedom and rights the rakyat may still have. 

From the highest judicial position within the government - the Attorney General - whom we expect to be the last bastion against injustice and criminality, we only get an individual whose total obedience to his political masters sickens all Malaysians.

From the most senior officer in PDRM who have sworn an oath to protect and serve the rakyat, we get an individual who not only carry the balls of his political masters but also eagerly hastens to do his political master's bidding without any thought as to the interest of the rakyat that he has sworn an oath to protect and serve.

With no room left for debate or discussion because of what has already transpired in Parliament, we know categorically that the Speaker of Parliament - that chief officer and highest authority in Parliament whose duty is to keep order and call MPs to speak and who must, for democracy to work, remain impartial at all times.....this man too is not only a stooge of his political masters but is also has his hand out for dedak and already made clear his wishes to be the next TYT of Sabah.

And of course that leaves the Angkatan Tentera Malaysia. Already dedak is being poured down the throats of the Persatuan Veteran ATM as najib attempts to mobilise it's members to line up behind him.....but it is a work in progress with still much to be done because it's members are not going to be led to the altar to be sacrificed for najib's benefit without a fight. 

And yet with all this negativity around us there is still the audacity of hope. Hope that good will triumph over evil. Hope that common sense will prevail over dedak, corruption and money politics. Hope that in the end, there will be enough Malaysians who will stand up, be counted and declare themselves to be against najib, against, umno, against bn and against our nation, our people and our future from being taken advantage of by politicians who serve themselves, not us. 

I know not how all this will end but for now, this I know. 

We have, already on our side, the people we need to defeat umno, najib and bn at the next general election.

Sadly we are without TGNA and that Lion of Jelutong....for they are gone from our midst. In their place we are adequately compensated by the presence of Tun Mahathir and all those from  umno that Tun has brought with him onto our side. And of course Lim Kit Siang and Anwar Ibrahim have always been unflinching in their commitment to our cause. 

What is lacking is cohesion. Cohesion among our leaders and cohesion among us all.... for without cohesion we are done for. 

And what is this cohesion that I am talking about? 

Let me tell you what I do...it is 5.34 am in Melbourne where I live. In my sarong, with socks to keep my feet warm and a cup of Nescafe to keep me awake....I am writing this.....this article in which I am trying to share with you guys my thoughts about what each and everyone of us must, and have to do, if our beloved Malaysia is to survive the onslaught of a najib, an umno and a bn that knows nothing else but dedak, dedak and more dedak as the essential fodder upon which they must feed to survive. This is what I can do...I write in my blog. 

Now ask yourself what you can do....if you can write, you write. If you can be an opposition activist - be one. If you can make others come onto our side and vote with us come the next PRU - do so. In anyway you can...help the opposition...help Lim Kit Siang, help Anwar Ibrahim and help Tun Mahathir            

And what of our leaders? What about cohesion amongst them all? 

This I know is happening.....all the components within the opposition are talking to each other and conferring with each other every step of the way in their fight against najib, umno and bn.  Can this "talking with each other" be improved? Of course it can and it must if we are to present a united front to najib, umno and bn...and more important...to the long suffering rakyat who demands that united front. 

Cohesion. Cohesion. Cohesion! 

In a few months time we will have that PRU. Before the year end we will know our fate, the fate of our nation and that of the future of our children and the generations to come. And while I wait for those few more months to pass, I will continue to write in this blog ...lawan mesti lawan.

BLIND FAITH

It is now 3.15 AM. Tuesday. February 28th. 2017. I have been kept awake by a nagging cold that refuses to go away - the cold courtesy of a few days in Perth. Anything away from the ordinary triggers adverse health issues when you are almost 70. All that you can do is to slow everything down to a snail pace and hope that with some medication bought over the counter from the nearby Chemist Warehouse, all will be well earlier rather than later. For now I cannot sleep. And so I write.

This country of my birth...from the time it was Malaya, then Malaysia with Singapore, then Malaysia without Singapore...this country that  I now share with Sabah and Sarawak and with millions of Pendatangs from Indonesia, Bangladesh and with many others from parts unknown.... this country that I still call my own.....this country that you too call your home, has never ever been more divided now then at anytime within my living memory. Three scores and one decade of living memories. 

We are divided along racial lines. 

We are divided between those that believe in God, and those that do not. And among the Gods that we believe in there are divisions between the chosen ones and the infidels. And among the chosen there are again lines that at times run deep and intractable while among the infidels there are lines where those on opposite sides are tolerant and accepting of each other. 

We are divided between states in Semenanjung,Sabah and Sarawak. And even within these physical divisions, loyalties are pledged to states, towns, villages and even on which side of the river or a mountain that people come from.

And as if all this diversity is still not enough...we are divided by that most toxic of all divisions....politics. 

Our country has never been this divided before.  How not to be when all these divisions are being enhanced, embolden and entrenched by the very entity that should be the agent for unity : the umno led barisan nasional government! An audacious  barisan nasional government that tolerates, encourages and makes possible corruption within it's rank in a manner that defies all the known convention by which any responsible government should govern. A government whose only tried and tested manner of government that will allow them to hold on to power is to divide and rule its rakyat.

Imagine a prime minister found with RM2.6 billion in his personal account. Imagine the same prime minister being unaware that RM42 millions have been deposited into his personal bank account. Imagine corruption on an industrial scale, imagine Ministers and party leaders all with their snouts to the trough. Imagine a government preoccupied with stuffing bank notes into their deep deep pockets. There you have it...umno as it has been, still is now and an umno that knows of no other "urusan" but to keep their snouts to the trough to partake of the gravy that the spoils of political office offers the corrupt.

Add to those pigs already partaking at the trough not only the PIG (Police Inspector General) that tweets, but also the Attorney General and the incoming Auditor General...there you have it...a recipe whose architect is umno, and a recipe that is being religiously adhered to by none other than umno's numero uno, najib razok and his band of cohorts and like minded goons.

And aligned against this odious umno led barisan nasional government is an opposition born out of all of the above divisions! Race, religion, politics and geographical circumstance and yet, within all that diversity, there is, a common cause, however suspect, that seems to bind them all. Bind them all to be one so that a united front can be made ready for battle against the umno led bn when general elections are called for, hopefully, in the not too distant future.

For those of us who have the interest of our nation's future (or should it be survival?) at heart, there really is no choice but to put our blind faith in the bewildering array of leaders and ideologies that now call themselves "THE OPPOSITION". Ironically the very Malay leaders who were at one time part and parcel of a corrupt umno are, by default, now the very leaders of this opposition that is now being made ready for battle against umno. Does it really take a thief to catch a thief? For sure it does when the authorities are sleeping on the job.....well more like sitting than sleeping....but you get my drift!

     

So how will this "gunfight at OK corral" pan out? 

By all accounts, najib razak, bolstered by a seemingly inexhaustible reservoir of cash to meet the greed of barisan national "supporters" is too entrenched to be dislodged from Seri Perdana. The electoral commission does his bidding. The religious authorities rampages over Muslims and infidels in their enthusiasm to do najib's/umno/ALLAH's work on earth (strike out which one you think is irrelevant!). The judiciary pronounces itself free and independent of its political masters while it's decision shouts otherwise. Royalty tugs at the reins that umno now holds in a bid to assert their "royal prerogatives" but in truth these Sultans too have their snouts in the troughs partaking of umno's gravy.

It does not look good.....except that we have that which najib razak and umno most fear....we have Mahathir and Anwar Ibrahim to lead the opposition. And aligned with Mahathir and Anwar is Lim Kit Siang. A formidable trio by any criteria....and certainly one capable of wrestling government from the umno led barisan nasional government when push comes to push.      

And so blind faith or otherwise, our choices starkly depicts the quandary we are all in. No clear choices between good over evil, good over bad, right over wrong. Everyone of those leaders within the government or opposition comes with baggage pile so high upon their back that all that is needed to break that back is a straw.....and yet we are drawn towards the opposition simply because the government has proven to be the bigger evil of the two. And faced by the choice of the devil and the deep blue sea....the future augers ill for our nation, or people and our future. Let us pray it is not so....the audacity of hope still beats within our hearts. Hope that good will triumph over evil....that Mahathir, Anwar and Lim Kit Siang will have the wisdom, the ability and the grace to do government as we aspire them to do government. Blind Faith is not much to go on with, but today in Malaysia, that is all that we have!
