cakap cakap...Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee

Since when have we been so intolerant of the folly of youth? Were we all not young once? Did we not make mistake? These mistakes sometimes we make everyday, sometimes occasionally, some are simple mistakes, some complex, some are made impulsively, sometimes foolishly, sometimes even maliciously.......but from mistakes we learn! From mistakes we grow to be better people once we admit our mistake and move on with our lives.

Some are shamed by the mistakes they make while some are apologetic. Some blame others, some feel guilty and there are some who do nothing to overcome these mistakes….but do not think that just because you make mistakes you are a mistake yourself. Nothing is further from the truth than that!

Whatever these mistakes are, however serious and malicious and ill intended they may be, I do not understand the furor that that has been whipped up by the powers that be over Alvin Tan and Vivian Lee.

Are you telling me that what they have done in posting an insensitive Ramadan greeting on their facebook is worse that the murder of Altantuya? An act more evil than the rape of an underage Malay school girl by Rahim Thambi Chik? That it is more shameful than the antics of that Raba Raba Minister who is now our representative in Washington? That it is more stupid than the act of a former Chief Justice who should know better when he married another wife in Thailand without the consent of his first wife? Or the corrupt deeds of the present Chairman of Felda in UMNO?

Let us look at all this in perspective.

There are more pressing matters that should concern the powers that be. The charge of conducting a fraudulent election leveled at SPR for a start! The attempts to reinstate rather than remove the Sedition Act despite the promise by the Prime Minister to abolish it in the run up to the 13th  general election. The continuing free fall of the Malaysian economy fuelled by massive corruption and mismanagement by this UMNO led Barisan Nasional government. Why is Maybank Investment pumping in another RM8.45m into AirAsiaX? Why should the AG concern himself with these two when he should concern himself with matters where corruption, abuse of public office and murder most foul are waiting his urgent attention? So many other matters that should concern our national leaders…so why this need to bully two foolish young bloggers?

Let me tell you why!

For the powers that be and all those with nothing better to do, the bullying of two young Chinese bloggers are much easier to do than to look at the many many grave issues that are now troubling our nation. It more sad than troubling, more pitiful than it is worrying to see our courts and other government functionaries moronically engaged in the persecution of two harmless young Malaysians whose mistake, if they could be called mistakes at all, are the folly of youth.

We were young once. Remember that Din guy and his beer drinking?

Has Najib forgotten his energetic sowing of his wild oats while he was MB of Pahang and fooling around with somebody else wife? Chill ……let it go and go do the things that grown ups do. Get a life!

  1. I asked myself the same question - why jailed them (as reported on tv 18th July) over their FOOLISHNESS when we have SERIOUS CRIMINALS AROUND us OR are they, Alvin and Vivien red herrings to divert the public attention to voice the CURRENT incompetency of the University Intake Unit - it is really sad when people or community are made to suffer because of some percieved or imaginery fears by the very leaders who can with one word ASSURE THE NATION THAT IT IS OKAY IF WE SOMETIME UTTER STUPIDITY AS LONG AS WE ARE STRONG NOT TO FALL FOR THE STUPIDITY TRAP ! !

  2. The authorities are very good in dealing with petty issues but serious ones like corruptions, assaults and murders that involves their people they will pretend not to know. And they are always asking for the people's support and respect. Do they deserve any? Just look at the IGP and the Home Minister. Do these clowns qualify to be there? These are the so-called competent people that they have to look after us.

  3. These two fellas holding such high positions will not even be considered if it was in Singapore or any other developed countries. Why? One was involved in an assault case, the other was involved in a cover-up death case in police custody. Can we expect characters with such criminal records to do a proper job? But do they care? They have a culture of "You Help Me, I Help You" and no matter what their backgrounds are they will be rewarded for their "help". That's why this regime must be changed. Not GE13, maybe GE14 or GE15. But change we must if we love the country.

  8. sensitive. tip toe around religion. hurt some people's feelings. insulting to certain people. struggle. champion of religion. sedition. 15 years jail. what d fuck is sedition? btw, growing older, we tend to become less sensitive, in fact, a lot of things don't matter anymore. as we grow older, mature & wiser, we don't get emotional so easily. a society that is overly sensitive & overly emotional gvs me the creeps. the chills. Relax, man. it's just words. Can't hurt u if u don't let it.
