The accolades that came from those who liked what I wrote did my ego much good. It is always chicken soup for the soul when what you write is agreed to by people that you have never met and probably never will. But too soon the barbs began to arrive. After a suitable period of being amazed at the ability of these people to continued to visit my site despite being totally repulsed by what I write I have now settled down to accepting the good with the bad.Nothing much fazes me anymore.
For the past two years I have chosen to write consistently against UMNO, its associates and the people within UMNO.I said chosen because it was a conscious decision from the start to do this...and the "bahan bahan" or data/info that was with me on UMNO gave me ample fodder to fill my blog pages...and I enjoyed myself tremendously!
But now the 13th general elections nears.By all reckoning this will be a decisive moment for our country. Will the people continue with the flow towards Pakatan Rakyat or has Pakatan Rakyat done enough to stem the flow their way? Please read that last line again.
Will the people continue with the flow towards Pakatan Rakyat or has Pakatan Rakyat done enough to stem the flow their way?
My question is "has Pakatan Rakyat done enough to stem the flow their way?" UMNO does not come into the equation at all. We all know UMNO for what it is -a corrupt, arrogant and self serving political party. The 13th general election is for Pakatan Rakyat to lose...and losing it seems to be the way it is now going.
My last posting "An inconvenient truth for Pakatan Rakyat" is my two cents worth on this delicate issue. There is an elephant in PR's room - and everyone in PR chooses to ignore it. That elephant in the room is DSAI.
The leadership within Pakatan Rakyat accepts DSAI - warts and all but I say that DSAI is too much of a distraction because of the baggage he carries with him from time immemorial. From his time in UMNO until today. It is better for DSAI to be King maker for he cannot be King.
As I have said in my first paragraph of this posting - I chose to live my live as I want to. And because I do so living in KL is not a wise option - what more to hold public office -even if that was at Cawangan level of any political entity. To start with I do not suffer fools easily...so perish any thought of me doing any thing that requires interaction between other human beings...what more in politics! At 64 I cannot change....make that I do not want to change!
DSAI wants to be Prime Minister of Malaysia. A noble calling indeed but one that would require a noble soul to do so. DSAI does not have a noble soul. What ever he has endured in the past, what ever injustice done to him by UMNO, whatever sacrifices he and his family has made in the name of the nation if not in DSAI's name - all these put together still does not give DSAI the right to consider the Prime Minister ship of Malaysia as his to claim.
I am not talking about the right of Najib or any other UMNO's president to be Prime Minister - that is another issue altogether - I am talking about OUR Pakatan Rakayat and OUR Prime Minister designate. The one who will lead PR into the 13th GE and the one who will be Prime Minister if PR wins the 13th GE. I say that that man cannot be DSAI. Before you condemn me to Hell with Satan and Gabriel as my company please hear me out.
PR leaders accepts DSAI as its leader because they are all agreed that there is simply nobody else. Nobody who can hold this so called coalition of the willing to fight the axis of evil that is UMNO, MCA dan lain lain. So what happens if UMNO takes DSAI out? What happens if UMNO is able to neutralize DSAI? And they do it after the announcement of a date for the 13th GE? Can PR regroup in time to give BN a run for its money? Will PR have the ability to seek out another leader? Acceptable first to the Malays, then the others? Why the Malays first? Because the Malays have the numbers to give victory to UMNO or PR. Like it or not you need to appease the Malays first! And if the Malays agree to a non Malay leader so be it!
UMNO takes DSAI out and PR self destructs? Why not preempt UMNO's moves now and deny them a focus for their likeness in taking out anyone that is perceived to be a threat to them?
And if you think that they cannot take DSAI out then you must be dreaming! Watch this video of DSAI and I tell you that this is but one of the many that will be wheeled out to obliterate DSAI - possibly not in the eyes of PR elites as they seems to be so enamoured of DSAI - but in the eyes of the public - and it is the public that votes.
Remember that if Pakatan Rakyat do not give the public someone they want to vote for from PR then PR cannot win the 13th GE -simple as that. DSAI carries too much baggage for him to be of any use to PR come the 13th GE -a sad but true indictment of a man who can make himself acceptable to many but in that very process he himself has lost touch with the real DSAI. He himself no longer knows where reality ends for DSAI. He himself no longer understands that too many of his "friends" are now his foes. Too many of those who believed in him are doing so out of a blind allegiance that has no basis of truth or reality. The real DSAI is lost in mindless charades that has only one goal - being PM of Malaysia. Like Najib he believes that being PM will make everything right for him. We can see for Najib that the abuses while he was in Mindef follows him, Altatntuya haunts him daily - the office of Prime Minister is no sanctuary for those who have anything to hide...and DSAI has plenty to hide.
I will continue with this later. For now it has already been an effort to write this - but write I must.

Just read your latest post about Anwar. I refuse to DSAI him because he is anything but a berseri datuk to me! Lame joke, eh?! Hahahaha!
Anyways, I can understand how it must have been hard for you to write it - because I remember your saying that you were loyal to him.
BUT, you are right: If PKR does not take him out, they will be doing a bad thing - because we won't be voting for them if Anwar's face is anywhere in sight. Too many of us dislike the man intensely for all he has stood for while in umno. We shudder at what he might have in store for us should he he become pm.

At the moment, DSAI is definitely a catalyst for the opposition. Whether he will eventually become the PM if and when the opposition takes Putrajaya is anyone's guess. He could be imprisioned by then or even dead!
But to take him out of the picture now is definitely out of the question. He IS the catalyst! To anointed a successor now will be a mistake. It will be a fodder for BN to demonize and cast aspersions on the successor. Same reason if Pakatan will to announce a shadow cabinet now. BN is very apt at demonizing to the extent of using racial and religious fears to create doubts on the suitability of members in the shadow cabinet. It has been used before by BN during previous elections and some sections of the electorate were taken in by this tactic. Pakatan does not need to waste precious resources to fight another fire when BN turned the successor (and the shadow cabinet) into an explosive issue.
Having said that, I am not too worry if DSAI does not make it as PM. There are many other capable leaders in Pakatan. Remember Nizar Jamaluddin? He did a good job when he was the MB of Perak but he was an unknown before that. Imagine if Pakatan had designated him as their choice of MB before the election. BN will 'shrewed' him on his inexperience and cause Pakatan a lot of precious votes in that election.
Now is not the time to argue publicly about who should be the leaders of the country if Pakatan takes Putrajaya. This polemic will cause disagreement and lost of crucial votes.
As I said before, there are many capable leaders in Pakatan. Win Putrajaya first !! What is more important are not the personalities of our future leaders but the leaders that are attuned to the aspirations of the rakyat.

I'd say DSAI is not that material for PMship and I am sure if I read DSAI right, he has not that peculiar intention to be the PM, he only wanted to lead the fight and to win it, then I am very certain DSAI would settle to let the coalition pick our choice of PM once the battle against UMNO/BN is completed. DSAI has proven over a long time that he is a good general no ordinary person could have withstood the hardships he had endured. He is too old enough to realise that the people he led need him as a war consigliori, not a peacetime leader. Let us settle first the fight against this dirty government and then we let the people choose our destiny with the new government.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately there is nothing that can be done. Replacing DSAI at this stage would give much bigger field for UMNO propaganda. He has to go on. Those in cities know why they are voting for Pakatan and those in the kampungs, well, depend on PAS ceramahs. As long as UMNO cannot find something extemely sticky to hit Anwar with, let him be.
ReplyDeleteAny change of captain and UMNO will have a field day: a) it can bad-mouth the matter. b) it can instigate and create a dozen more Zaid Ibrahims who will think they should have been the one to replace Anwar.
No country had replaced a long-ruling semi-dictatorship at the polls without an icon at the helm.
The struggle for a better future comes AFTER UMNO/BN is humbled.
I am not visiting yr blog anymore. I thought I had chanced on a level-headed blogger but its all the same - its either praise Anwar skyhigh or bash Anwar left and right. You still dont understand that he's a catalyst for change and by hook or by crook I dont want leaders who spend 70 m on rings and buggatis and whatever else
ReplyDeleteAnd where were you on that important day? Talk is cheap. You people dig up dirt abt Najib, Rosmah and all the UMNO shit and then when we clamour for change, this person is not good enough, that person is not good enough. No one will be good enough for nit-pickers - Nurul Izzah too young. Hadi too old. Kit Siang too Chinese. And ofcourse dont mention Anwar. Then we might as well go back to Najib and Rosmah and dont you dare clamour for change again.Back to my all-important question, since its so easy for you to criticise, where were you on that important day?
ReplyDeleteSorry old mate, I do not agree with you on this one. Malaysia needs DSAI more than DSAI needs to be the PM. I say let him have his day in the sun, after all, even the mongrels already had theirs and all they can show are fleas and and more fleas.
ReplyDeleteDSAI is not perfect but he is the only one who can remove BN. I am sure he too realises that he can only be PM for that long and sooner or later, he will make way for others to step up. So unlike Najib who rather hangs on and on and on and on, without any proper mandate.
No siree, the fact BN is now so fearful of DSAI becoming the next PM is the very reason why the rakyat must make it happen. Just one term and then we can audit him properly, otherwise we become empty vessels ourselves.
Can you please now go and take your medicine...please?
Taikohtai
Pak Hamid, I totally do not believe that this article is written by you!!! If it is written by you, then you have suddenly become so shallow in you thinking!! What has dancing in his younger days and seeking a little sympathy for popularity's sake got to do with him not being eligible PM material??? Has he stolen millions to enrich himself and deprived the poor of taxpayers money? I have great respect for you, but suddenly I am thinking: are you getting senile?
ReplyDeleteWELL,IF U LOOK AT DSAI'S CHARACTER HE IS A GREAT LEADER IE JACK OF ALL TRADE AND THIS MAN CAN LEAD THE NATION COS HE IS JACK OF ALL TRADE.THIS SORT OF MAN WE NEED HIM TO LEAD THE NATION A MAN OF ORATOR,SWINGING,PIOUS AND U NAME IT.WELL DONE DSAI AND WITH THIS VIDEO I KNOW U ARE A MAN OF MANY TALENTS.
ReplyDeletePAK HAMED,HOW MUCH DID U GET FOR THIS VIDEO?
ReplyDeleteEVEN IN OUR COUNTRY,JUST LOOK AROUND OF OUR PREVIOUS PMS=TAR,RAZAK,MM AND MENTERI BESARS,MINISTER ALL GOT RECORD ONE,SCANDALS ETC,USA PRESIDENTS,BRIRISH PMS AND HOSTS OF OTHER VVIPS(INCL OUR SULTANS PAST AND PRESENT).SO DSAI CASE VERY MINOR MAH!
ReplyDeletehe is just NEEDed to lead PR to topple bn , ok ?
ReplyDeleteYinluck can suddenly become Thai pm WHY not NIZAR ... ?
Pak Hussin,
ReplyDeleteTimely reminder for PR to find a viable and winnable alternative with no baggage whatsoever. There are others definitely the likes of Nizar Jamaludin or Salahudin Ayub from PAS.
An early determination of possible candidate can be a way to win votes. I agree with you DSAI has to much baggage and a liability to PR.
Pak Tua.
PAK HUSIN,WHAT'S YOUR PURPOSE OF SHOWING THIS VIDEO?AM ALSO OF YOUR AGE AND AM ALSO A LEADER OF MY OWN PROFESSION.DURING MY YOUNGER DAYS I ALSO ENJOY,'PRETEND',DO SOME TRICKS TO SURVIVE JUST WHAT DSAI DID.WELL THAT'S LIFE.THAT DOESNT MEAN DSAI IS NOT FIT TO BECOME PM.DONT TELL ME YOU DONT INDULGE IN WHAT DSAI DID?DONT BE A HIPPO?NOW AFTER GOING TRU LIFE AM OK AND I DONT SEE ANYTHING WRONG FOR DSAI TO BE PM,AS LONG HE DIDNT SCREW SOMWBODY'S WIFE (UNLESS SHE WANTS IT),CORRUPTED.DSAI'S CHARACTER IS VERY IDEAL TO BE A WORLD LEADER.
ReplyDeleteI think DSAI is more than "cakap, cakap". From ABIM activist & firebrand to UMNO vice president, what principles did he have to abandon just become a #2 BN leader? If he had not tried to hasten his climb to be PM, we wouldn't have seen the real DSAI. This is the person that made drastic changes in our education system both in philosophy and practice. Did he not sideline other races by implementing new policies?
ReplyDeleteI've always believed that the powers that be may have tons of files on each leader, activist, radical etc. Its just when & where they need to use it. So after Sodomy I, did he wise up? Why bring a young & new intern on business trips? Why still meet in a condominium where people can slander him? Does all politicians have their offices in similar settings? If it was a religious leader in a similar situation, will his followers accept a second occasion? Therefore, we should not judge a leader by just his ability to lead but also by his wisdom. DSAI lacks wisdom that is also a true mettle of a real leader.
I'm not a BN or PR supporter. I'm apolitical but stand by principles that the human race should respect - decency, honesty, morality, truth, fairness, balance etc... First, I will vote by the candidate whether BN or PR. Second, by party affiliation (in line with the rakyat's aspirations & principles or just more "cakap2"). I'm not blind sided by ABU. Therefore, DSAI "cakap, cakap"... tetapi untuk apa? Memang ada motivasi, sasaran dan tujuan.
Tidak mahu menjadi PM? You must be joking!!
I for one never believe that anwar is cut out to be PM representing PR just for one simple reason that he is formerly UMNO,the UMNO culture is so deeply rooted in him and when you have umno culture in you, thing will never be right, like they said, rotten to the core.So the alternative will have to be from PAS or DAP or someone else from PKR whose behaviour is non umno, just look around you,PR is not short on talents, how about Nizar or Salahudin from PAS,Guan Eng from DAP or maybe Nurul from PKR.
ReplyDeleteDear Bro Hussin,
ReplyDeleteThat video is part of the other side vicious effort to topple DSAI. hy DSAI because they know the only person who can gather the masses to topple them thus they are very afraid of him. They will do anything to get him out. Knowing this fact I'm not surprsie by the showing of this vide, though a bit disapointed but I realise DSAI is just a mortal being who has his weakness and handicap. Talking about hipocrite, I believe most of us have such trait. Even many 'big guns' on the other side are worst! Now i take it a strategy by DSAI to get the support and sympathy from the people. What other means do do have when everything within the country is controlled by the other side. Don't you this is also hipocrites. Talking about DSAI when he was in rhe other camp, what choice did have but to stick to hisn team's policy. he is part of the government therefore must adhere to the policy decided by the team. Therefore we can't blame for that. Human is dynamic and can change and adjust to the surrounding and situation in order to get the better. I believe DSAI as an ordinary human being has his weaknesses but that does not mean we cannot him the chance to lead. Who are we to judge the future that DSAI will bring us to end of the road. How sure are we? We are told ferquently, to be succeed we must dare to take the risk. Then what's the different if we bet on DSAI fpor this time!
Only yesterday I recommended to my sister-in-law your site. You seems to be a rational guy and being almost your age I salute you for the effort to keep people informed especially those people who ceased to read the government propaganda papers. I always say to myself Pa Hamid ni banyak pahala.
ReplyDeleteNothing wrong if you feel that dsai should not be pm. But do you have to justify it by running him down as if he is a scum of the earth. What is your motive to bring out a 2001 video that was clearly designed to redicule dsai. That video is linked to many other videos designed for the same purpose. There is a new generation now who will see these videos without the benefit of the whole story.
Hey mid, u ni ta lah berapa cerdek seperti di sangka. You are a minnow compared to what this man has done to change the country's political landscape. Without pakatan your blog would still be languishing with nostalgic songs of the sixties.
I want the obscenity that UMNO leadership has become to be replaced by PR collective leadership.
ReplyDeleteIf DSAI can help spring this, then he's our man.
What obscenity this man has become to you that beats UMNO's obscenities?
RPK made that about turn, so it's your turn?
I AGREED WITH RED ALFA,PAK HAMED WHEN ARE U MAKING A U TURN LIKE RPK?DUIT PUNYA PASAL SERBAN PUN TERCABUT.HAMID,KAVITA PUN BOLIH SYUK DGN SULTAN TAK ADA APA APA PUN,JADI SULTAN JUGA
ReplyDeleteSein, don't tell us that you don't about this guy all along....how stupid of you.
ReplyDeleteNothing new about him ...why at this point of time about Anwar another product of that Malay school of your. Melayu bodoh
FMZAM,U PICK ANY MALAY WHO CAN TALK AND INFLUENCE THE MASSES,LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY?AT PRESENT ONLY DSAI CAN REPRESENT MALAYSIA.
ReplyDeleteFMZAM,U PICK ANY MALAY WHO CAN TALK AND INFLUENCE THE MASSES,LOCALLY AND INTERNATIONALLY?AT PRESENT ONLY DSAI CAN REPRESENT MALAYSIA.
ReplyDeletewhat! are you sure you are ok mate .............he 's a load of bullshit
Come on guys ..... what do you expect at 64. onslaught of senility
ReplyDeleteOrang Melayu ni tak ada fikiran lain!
ReplyDeleteWhat make you think that DSAI wants to be the PM.
Please go and ask him ok!
What's frustrating is, we are almost at the finishing line. Anwar and colleagues, you, RPK, Zorro and many others, even Auntie Ann marching in the rain have all contributed to this momentum for change. And now that we are in the last lap of the race, suddenly you say ....oops, not so fast -- get rid of so and so first. What are we to think? Or do?
ReplyDeleteanon...yes it is frustrating that I bring this up at this juncture when the elections are near - but that is precisely the reason we need to consider change. It is my belief that UMNO can neutralize DSAI when that is what they really want and need to do. If that happens AFTER the announcement of the election date what does that leave PR with? MAMPUS! But then if you do not believe that UMNO can take out DSAI then I am the bastard. Either way UMNO wins unless PR intiate the change within their own time frame with enough time to regroup and ready themselves for the 13th GE.
ReplyDeleteYes, u make a valid strategic point.
ReplyDeleteWhile DSAI can be PM (regardless of his baggage), its also ideal to have a PR PM No.2, PR PM No.3 lined up ready to take over in case DSAI is terminated by political moves.
I believe PR & DSAI probably realizes this too and is not naming the No.2 or No.3 to avoid character assassination on these guys ahead of the GE.
What do you think?
Anon...if only that was so....but we only have to look at PKR's party election to see what we can expect at PR with DSAI at the helm...chaos, back stabbing and vested interests...and once we have that in PR DSAi will leave because his work is done!
ReplyDeleteatok hussein
ReplyDeletekenapa boleh pergi ke trahap ini.
malu la pada allah dan anak muda seperti kami ini
Most people are focussing on the wrong thing..it's not about DSAI, and it's not about Ambiga..or any one single entity.
ReplyDeleteBN will only "improve" or serve the rakyat better if there is viable competition. So whether its Pakatan or BN at the helm, as long as Malaysians have viable "options" then there is competition, and when there is competition, then there will be a natural tendency to be forced to improve...theory of natural selection.

Good observation Hamid. It's natural for people especially people who are in a state of despeartion to look at everything in plain black or white - a party is either good or bad, the government is either good or bad, DSAI is either good or bad etc. Though we need to hold and promote very high principles, the reality is, EVERY human being and human organization has its flaws. And how many of us have the same perceptions as we did 20, 40 years ago? Do we then keep knocking leaders out one by one in search for the flawless unchanging one? This is my worry. (The last time I checked, the ONLY flawless and unchanging ONE, still rules UNELECTED)
ReplyDeleteDSAI has proven his capability of building viable opposition front (not without flaws). This front has also galvanized a number of other citizens and NGOs to be more vocal and proactive in politics. Bersih 2.0 is a good example of enlightened everyday citizens demanding the first steps towards meaningful governance of the people. Like you I too believe that UMNO's top prority is to take out DSAI - one way or the other. But I am willing to bet that the same fate also awaits any other leader who steps up to take his place. Just as what Badawai suffered, look at the vilification of Datuk Ambiga - even when she has already stated that she will not stand for elections.
So what next? I would suggest that it is not the PERSON but the POLICY that drives good people. Who (other than Rosmah, maybe)really cares if Najib had a fling with a Mongolian? But if his current policies are ruining the country and driving people up the wall. THIS will be cause for the people to go against him/BN.
So folks, keep an eye on the leaders, not to pick on their past baggage but rather to observe sharply their current stands on current issues.
There are no dream leaders, only leaders with dreams.
What is so implicating about this video? Ya, he could dance and sing in the old days but now he cant after injuries to his spine and neck. Wearing a neck brace on his own is not something unusual or difficult. He his trying to exercise and mobilise his arms and shoulders, and what is so unusual about that. And supporting Hindraf is not a crime (unless you are a probarisan guy). Only your background music sounds as if something evil and bad is happening. I think you should get somebody better to direct the video if your aim is to discredit DSAI.
ReplyDeletesorry sir...u,s47, dah lost the plot...to me n ppl on the street(or at least in my area)...NOW N MOVING FORWARD, ITS NOT ABOUT ANWAR NAK JADI PM...ITS SIMPLE N UNCOPLICATED, "AMAR MAKRUF NAHI MUNGKAR"...DEMI KITA DAN ANAK CUCU KITA !!!
ReplyDeleteps: u,s47 dah macam umPORno pulak

ReplyDeleteCORRECTION:
What is more important are not the personalities of our future leaders but the leaders that are attuned to the aspirations of the rakyat.
Will you come back to vote on election day? Alternatively are you still eligible to vote in Malaysia?
ReplyDeleteI am with Pak HH on this. DSAI simply has too much baggage and not trustworthy in character.
ReplyDeleteNevertheless, I will still put my $, no my childrens' future with Pakatan.
To have a better nation, we must have a 2 party system. DSAI is simply a means to an end, and nothing more.
Keep up the good work.
This is not the time to regroup. Parti Keadilan went through messy, internal upheavals and now they are stabilising. Imagine going through a change in leadership at this point in time.
ReplyDelete
