cakap cakap......THE INDIANS : WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOUR!

When are the Indians going to stop writing about the impact of Hindraf at the 12th General Elections? About how the Indian votes gave Pakatan Rakyat the five states that they won and denied Barisan Nasional their two thirds majority in Parliament? I am getting sick of hearing the same thing over and over again. Let me state this once and for all. If there is any one race that can make the difference in any general election in Malaysia it is the Malays. Only the Malays have the numbers to vote en block and ensure the victory of whom ever they choose to vote for. Any other goes with the flow.

Yes the Indians can possibly make the difference in marginal seats but only if the other races are already giving one candidate their votes….…and the Indians give their votes to the same candidate. The Indians by themselves cannot ensure victory for any candidate. So please you Indians out there – stop saying that it was the Indian votes that gave the five states to Pakatan Rakyat and denied Barisan Nasional their two-thirds majority in parliament. WE ALL DID IT TOGETHER! Kapish?

The Indians have also been voicing their unhappiness at the failure of Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional to address the Indian grievances despite promises made during the 12th general elections and in the period since then. And the Indians never fail to again remind Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional that their support will make the difference between winning and losing the 13th general election this time around!

Yes they are good at telling what the Indians can do in the 13th general elections!  Why then, at this time of their greatest needs for votes, do PR and BN not give the Indians the attention they crave? The recognition they think they deserve? Why does Pakatan Rakyat and Barisan Nasional leaders still ignore the Indians?

I think the simple answer is that the support of the Indian community for PR or BN does not mean much to either of them. First there is no Indian community. The Indians are, by their own admission, so divided because of caste, that they will never get themselves organized into any coherent groupings that could then negotiate with the government or opposition of the day on behalf of the Indians community. When will they overcome this debilitating illness of caste that burdens the Indian people?

It is time to grow up. Time to be mature and understand your place in the scheme of things. Like every other ethnic groups in Malaysia we all have our strengths and weaknesses. We all have roles to play. What you do not need to do is to go around telling people what you are going to do to the rest of us if you do not get your way. That is the surest way of alienating everyone else against you!

I would suggest that the Indians in Malaysia do away with the caste mentality that is a relic of your ancestors from India. It is difficult enough living in a multiracial community as we do here in Malaysia without the added complexities of caste within any ethnic groupings. I can say with confidence that the caste mentality amongst the Malays is as rare as the Dodo bird. And like the Dodo bird if there is any Malay thinking he is a caste higher or lower then me then he (has to be a ‘he’– a ‘she’ are smart enough to know otherwise!) gets embalmed and put into a museum as an exhibit pronto!

I am reliably told that if you do that with the Indian community all the Indians that are left behind could easily fit into Dataran Merdeka. So please all you Indians get your house in order. We are in the 21st century now!

  2. I would like to ask the Indians this question: What has the BN done for you??? Don't always threaten PR with this and that. A lot of things they may want to do but cannot because they are not the government. Give PR your support and let them form the government first. You can whack them if promises are not kept.

  3. Indians have contributed a lot for the Malay and Malaysia. We can talk till the kerbau's balik rumah for all the other races contribution as well but remember this, it's the Hindraf rally that started all the other rallies if you remember correctly. So don't bitch about shit that you don't know dude. Yeah we Indians are never united but remember we did hella of job building roads and huge estates back then and we still can rock the boat when the time comes.
