Thanks to Liew Chin Tong for giving this accurately narrated historical backdrop with Anwar as the central figure that leads to the current scenario.
I feel that the image of the joint leadership of the two giants of Malaysian politics – Anwar and Mahathir – should be played to the fullest to unify support across the full spectrum of our political arena – the right, the left and the central. And across racial, religious and cultural lines.
This could be the single most powerful weapon Pakatan Harapan could wield to surmount the racial-religious fortress put up by Umno-PAS to fence in its captive electorate.
With the unprecedented economic hardships currently plaguing our masses, exacerbated by massive and endless corruption scandals, Umno-BN should have been easy meat for its challenger, if not for the deep-rooted racial-religious prejudice inculcated through generations of indoctrination by Umno propaganda.
And the Mahathir-Anwar combo is the ideal anti-dote to overcome such prejudice among the conservative, while retaining the support of the progressives who have been fighting relentlessly for change.
All attempts to remove Anwar from the mix have backfired
MP SPEAKS | The attempts have only led to the reconciliation of old nemeses.
