The Malays must learn to take politics in moderation.

The Malays are divided. All that unites them, religion, language and race are powerless against that which divides them: POLITICS. Politics overcame all other sensibilities. It is one thing to use race and religion for political expedience, another to deliberately use it to cause the division of the Malays amongst themselves.

Now we see Malays bent on intimidating not the other races but other Malays. We see Malays assembled within meters of each other hurling insults and threats of bodily harm at each other in the name of Politics. We see anger and hate in their eyes as the faced other Malays  - each so sure that their cause is the right cause.

Today we see Malay youths harassing the old, the strong harassing the weak. The men insulting the women and always the politicians are there to maximize their gains from these confrontations of Malays against Malays. Nobody says anymore that this is not the way of the Malays. Nobody say anymore that there must be a better way for the Malays to settle their differences. This is where politics have taken the Malays to. It signals a shift in the way things were. The politicians are desperate. They can no longer garner support by pitting the Malays against the other races. Now they throw the Malays against each other to gather votes for themselves. 

In all this I hold Malay politicians accountable. Malay politicians who are desperate enough to use race and religion just so they will hold on to power and all that power means to them. Not to serve the people but to serve themselves. 

Political division does not require you to intimidate, harass or threaten another Malay. It does not require you to abandon friendship or families. Like all things in life, take politics in moderation and take politics for what it is – a part of life.  Leave it at the doorstep when you come home or to be with friend. Leave politics alone when others who are with you wants to converse about life, family and the weather. 

Until our politicians lift their game, leave politics where it deserves to be…in the gutter!

Something for all of us to PONDER 

THE MALAYSIAN MALAY by Dr Syed Alwi of Singapore

As you know, I am an avid watcher of Malaysian affairs. I must confess that lately, Malaysia appears to be failing. Not a day passes by without more events that clearly highlight Malaysia 's race-religion fault-line. If things keep going this way, I fear for Malaysia 's future.

Today, schools in Singapore celebrate Racial Harmony Day. I can visibly see the joy in the children's faces as they wear their ethnic costumes and have fun together at school. But in Malaysia - even the right to choose a religion has become a sensitive, national issue. No doubt, there are many in Malaysia who hate my liberal views on Islam,family included. But I will say what I must say openly. I have come to the conclusion that Malaysia cannot progress any further without first addressing fundamental

questions regarding its identity and soul.

I remember the days when we can laugh at Lat's cartoons on everyday Malaysian life. But sadly,the Islamic tide has polarised Malaysians.

Some people ask why I should bother about Malaysian affairs since I am a Singaporean. May I remind Malaysians that it was Tan Siew Sin who once said that Singapore and Malaysia are Siamese Twins. Should Malaysia go down - it would hurt the region tremendously. Especially Singapore ..

Where do you think Malay apostates would head for if Lina Joy loses her case? Singapore of course! I find the Malaysian Malay to be very under-exposed. For them, it's all Islam and the NEP and everything under the sun would sort itself out. I am sorry to say this - but Islam and the NEP may be the cause of the doing of the Malaysian Malay.

There is nothing wrong with religion or affirmative action. But, like

everything else in life,they must be taken in moderation and with a pinch of salt. A little doubt is good. Unfortunately in Malaysia , emotions over Islam have overcome reason. What we see today is the result of the NEP and Islamisation policies of the past thirty years or so

No one owes Malaysian Malays a living. Let me assure you that should Malaysia fail - the Malaysian Malay will suffer enormously. And rightly so. After all they have been pampered with all sorts of goodies over the years.

They cannot now expect more goodies. Perhaps the day of reckoning for them, is near. Whatever it is, Malaysia had better wake up to the realities around her. The globalised world of the 21st century has no NEP to offer the Malaysian Malay. And humans cannot live by religion alone.

Azhar Harun : The Malays.

Recent incidents involving physical fracas in full public view raise the question of whether the Malays have evolved from a people that observe the highest standard of good mannerism (berbudi bahasa) to an angst-ridden, angry, unforgiving, judgemental and violent people. 

In recent weeks we read about a 12 year old losing his life after allegedly being physically punished in a tahfiz. Just a few days ago an ustaz wrestled with his student in yet another tahfiz.

We saw videos of student gansterism. We saw school girls fighting. Actresses squabbling over an ex-husband.

Then we saw the now infamous traffic cone bashing of a man over a traffic squabble just after a Friday prayer session. 

Latest, of course, is the slap received by a certain Dato' by a certain comedian right in front of the Prime Minister! 

Quite disconcerting really. I mean as a Malay myself I begin to wonder why, suddenly, the Malays are reacting to a set of circumstance this way. It is as if we have eschewed all civility that we are well known for in favour of violence as a reaction to a set of circumstance.

If so, the next question is why?

One thing that I observe is our propensity for and inclination toward describing anything that requires competition as a "battle" or a "war." (If you have read some Malay erotica, even sexual acts are described as "perjuangan" where in the end the girl would "terkulai dalam kekalahan" due to the awesomeness of the man!)

While others do things for the betterment of the society, we, over here, would "perjuangkan" this and that. We have never stopped to "berjuang" to "memurtabadkan" this, that or the other. Our opponents must be "ganyang" or crushed. Our constituency must be "pertahankan sehingga titisan darah yang terakhir." Our resolve to "pertahankan" our constituency or our stance is premised upon the phrase " kita tidak rela musuh kita menjajah kawasan kita". 

All these, mind you, are not utterred at a battleground in front of our troop who are facing marauding Mongolians led by the Khan himself. These are utterred in an air-conditioned hall bedecked with large framed photographs of our former leaders while the audience were busy whatsapping each other and taking selfies after a heavy breakfast.

Of course in recent months or even years we have also seen groups of people in uniformed t-shirts harrassing people on the streets and even in shopping complexes. They even got physical at times. We also have had the benefit of public display of martial arts and the inexplicable strength of some people being whacked with plank of woods on their bare back while some others were scratching the ground like very very angry tigers.

And all these were designed to show superiority, either as an instrument of arrogance or fear. Or perhaps even both.

The perception is, rightly or wrongly, that all these are state-condoned. If not state-organised.

I can't help but wonder whether all these have at least contributed to the sudden change in our behaviour.

I mean, if I slap my wife everyday in front of my son, wouldn't my son grow up thinking that it is okay for a man to slap a woman? 

Just a thought. After yet another sleepless night.

The Rot is so deep the Malays will not see what is coming.....

The core values of the Malays have been slowly and surely being destroyed by the NEP, rather the way the NEP has been administered by mainly Dr M. Under his rule the Malays have become more dependent on gifts and handouts from the ruling UMNO(BN). Every morning every Malay on getting up will look for his tongkat NEP. With this he can leave his house confident that what he wants will be given to him, e.g., a diploma, a degree, shares, . He has forgotten the raison detaire for the NEP. It has, under UMNO, become a never ending piracy. How does this split the Malays. Simple. Jealousy. Jealousy over the other chaps abuse of power and the money that comes with it. Look at the way the rich Malays flaunt their wealth. You haven't seen them buying property overseas. Dr M thought he was the greatest because he used a tractor to dig up kekayan. But Najib was really the greatest. He used bank transfer. At the click of a mouse he got for himself huge amounts of money and that made Dr M very jealous. All this is occurring in a climate created by Dr M himself. The climate of:

Every Malay is waiting for the top man to smile on him and give him a tender/contract/cheque. For the rest, to keep them happy, all the students will sail through the education system without the need to pass an exam, and then sail through university, also without the need to pass an exam. Then they get a job without having to prove themselves. Surely this must weaken the psyche of the Malay. I have seen all these developments from day 0. The few who can think have failed to pull up the rest. Now the rest will pull down everyone. The pirates of UMNO are now fighting among themselves for the biggest share of the loot. PKR/Dr M - they are no different from UMNO, as the people of Malaysia will find out. But the rot is so deep, the Malays will not see what is coming. For what is coming, wait for part 2.

Siapa dia hero Melayu?

Monday morning. Melbourne. 

I have been awake since 5.30 this morning. Most of that time have been spent on reflections of what I could write this morning about the Malays. I searched in my mind for a Malay within my life time that I could write about for being a leader among the Malays. There have been many distinguished Malays, many Malays of note in public service, but none outstanding as a leader of men. I then searched back to those Malays before my  time....Malays that I know of from history, from what I have heard people talk of them...for any Malays of note. Again there had been Malays who can be written about for what they have done in history, what they have done to make history and Malays in the service of their masters and of themselves....but again none that I could think of that deserved to be titled as a leader and hero of the times that they lived in. None!

Is there not a single Malay - past and present - that I could justifiably name to have distinguished themselves in the service of others and of our nation? In History past and present, the Chinese and the Indians have many....we Malays have none?

What about Tun Razak? 

Did he not served the nation and its people unselfishly? Did he not sacrifice his own well being in the service to his nation? 

For sure he did but if Tun Razak is to be judged by history, surely his "gift" of that son, najib, to the nation, has nullified all that Tun Razak has done for the nation? Cuba fikir sikit....all that Tun Razak has done for our nation has been destroyed many times over by najib razak. FELDA has become a means for najib and his cronies to make billions at the expense of the very people that his own father had set FELDA up for - the rural Malays. 

The elevation of the Malays to a position of economic and political strength never experienced by Tun Razak  - and meant to raise the Malays to a level where they are able to stand at par with the others, if not better...all this have been hijacked by najib and his cronies for their own personal political and financial gain - and in the process saddled our nation with a national debt of over RM 670 billion and counting and by their action have made Malaysia now,  a by word for corruption and incompetence in the eyes others globally. Whatever Tun Razak has toiled to do for our nation, his son has destroyed many times over. Nab has now  consigned Malaysia to ground level...and such is our situation to day that not satisfied with the situation he has consigned our nation to....najib, by his continued avarice and greed is now making us dig our own grave. And still he will not stop at anything to satisfy his greed. 

And what of umno? Lock stock and barrell, umno also goes his way for the drawing power of dedak pulls even the most principled Malay into the abyss of conspicuous consumption and decadence.

So has perish Tun Razak's legacy at the hands of his own offspring.

So who else among the Malays can be talked of in glory? The Sultans? We have had hundreds of them...and none of them...none....have distinguished themselves in the service of their state or their people. None! No hero, no warriors...plenty of lanuns, bullies, cowards and fornicators. Drunks even. But no heroes!    

So what are we Malays to do when looking for heroes we can emulate? 

Look no further then yourself! 

The future beckons...but first we must rid ourself of these riff raffs who call themselves Yang Berhormat, Bugis Warriors, pseudo Tunkus and champions of the Malays...and those Malay dato's...ya ALLAH...so many of them and yet so undistinguished and so enamoured and partial to the good life they live with our money....we must rid ourselves of all these Malays before they can be any Malay heroes who will serve not themselves but others. We must ourselves, in any small way we can, be those Malay heroes if the Malays are to be of any use to themselves, to our nation and to its future. If we do not then we will consign our own race to always be among those "also-ran" but never a winner!

I received the above comment recently. I would like to reply. You say that without UMNO I will not be who I am today. Who am I today?

I am a 69-year-old man living in Australia – in retirement. I migrated to Australia almost 40 years ago and arrived in Perth with AUD $120 in my pocket, a pregnant wife and one daughter. We did not know any one in Perth. Apart from that Aud$120 (One Hundred and twenty dollars!) I did not take anything else from Malaysia into Australia except what we carried with us on the flight.

MCKK? The British established MCKK!

Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) is the first fully residential school in Malaysia. Established on 2 January 1905, it was originally known as the Malay Residential School of Kuala Kangsar. The school was the brainchild of R J Wilkinson, inspector of schools for the Federated Malay States. In a letter to the resident-general dated 24 February 1904 he wrote about "establishing at a suitable locality in the F.M.S., a special residential school for the education of Malays of good family and for the training of Malay boys for admission to certain branches of Government service". W Hargreaves, headmaster of Penang Free School, was appointed as the first headmaster to lead the establishment of the school. 

UMNO has nothing to do with MCKK – well not much when I left MCKK in 1965. After MCKK I went to SABS Kuantan where I left with an HSC.

After SABS I spent a year at the University where I failed miserably  - too miserably to even repeat my first year  - and my Father, at his own expense, sent me to Ealing Tech where I proceeded to do what I did at Uni in KL – failed again miserably in my studies. I married a Greek girl at 21 (the most successful of all my adult undertaking as I am still with her today – she at 72 and me at 69) and went back to KL after four years in London still with only my HSC but armed with fours year of living on my own in London.

Again all this with no help from UMNO! And certainly no help from any Chinese friends.

Then I started my working life.

With help from UMNO!

My first job was with MNI – Malaysia National Insurance. Ask any insurance executive and he or she will tell you how MNI has grown to be as big as it is today. You get business from Petronas, from State Governments, from the Federal Governments from any government related business and from bumiputra businesses who have been 'reminded' by UMNO to do business with MNI. Here was where I first learn to do business by command. The command comes from the UMNO led Barisan Nasional government that government related businesses MUST DO BUSINESS with MNI. No competitive quotes, nothing to do with servicing your clients, nothing to do with how good you are at paying claims – In MNI we learn that we can push our weight around and we will still get business over the other Insurance companies.

From there it was just a step away from learning about doing business ‘The UMNO way.” Rent seeking using Ali Baba companies, political patronage, cronyism or simply outright embezzlement of public funds, which is the much-preferred way of doing business the ‘UMNO way’.

Let me tell you how I made RM$100,000 the UMNO way. Follow me on this:

You cannot bring in construction workers from China – it is prohibited. I had a request from a Chinese Contractor who wanted to bring in 200 Chinese workers from China for a project in Shah Alam. The Chinese workers did good work for little money. The contractor offered to pay me RM$1000 per worker if I could get exemption from the Government to allow him to do so. To cut a long story short – I approached an UMNO contact who arranged for me to see the Minister in charge and within two weeks semua di atur. The Contractor got his approval to bring in 200 Chinese workers and I got my RM$200K  - which I split 50/50 with u know who! There you have it – RM$100K the UMNO way – all done within two weeks!

Now he tells me “melayu mudah lupa…otak sempit.” If truth be told I would rather forget all that I have learnt from UMNO and free my mind of doing business the UMNO way! I will be the better for doing so!

Today in Australia this Australian government provides for the comfort of my wife who has dementia, and for my life in retirement. I am now 69 and am receiving a pension. I live in a compact and decent apartment paying affordable rent (25% of my income) and our quality of life is good. If you read my blog you will know that last week my wife fainted while we were out – the ambulance came within ten minutes and we were taken to the hospital and given all the medical assistance that was required – at no costs to us. 

Now tell me ‘Anonymous’ what will UMNO do for me if I am 69 years old and retired without any means of support with a wife who has dementia? Will they give me a pension? Will they give me free or subsidised medical assistance for my wife and me? Will they give me subsidised housing for which I pay rent at 25% of my income and to which I have right of abode for as long as I want? And did I mention that the apartment I live in is brand new with a tram stop right outside the building – and the building is secured? And all around me there are dozens of restaurants and take-aways, supermarkets, boutiques – all that I and my wife need to make life pleasant!

No ‘anonymous’ I have nothing to be thankful to UMNO! If anything it is my duty to bring down this insidious political organisation that has wreck havoc and much damage to the cultural, racial, religious and economic health of our country. It is the duty of every right thinking Malaysian to do the same because our survival as a nation and as a people depends on us taking out UMNO and denying them any say in the affairs of our Nation.

Do not ask me to stay in Australia and mind my own business and leave things be in Malaysia!  Do not ask all us Malaysian that have chosen to live outside Malaysia to mind our own business and ignore what UMNO is now doing to OUR country. 

We may all live overseas but our hearts and passion are still for all things Malaysians. And for as long as we breathe, for as long as I can write, we will do all we can to help change things in Malaysia! 

Not because we intend to come back to stay in Malaysia! 

Not because we want our children to come back to stay in Malaysia! 

And not because we want PKR, DAP or PAS to be in government. 

We do all that we do because we are all in this together. If I have a good life in Australia I want those in Malaysia to have the same life that I am fortunate enough to have here. I do not want Malaysian to be plundered and pillaged by a corrupt and insidious UMNO led government. I do not want a Prime Minister who, in as far as the majority of Malaysian are concerned, have still to be cleared of complicity in the murder of Altanatuya! I want the murder of suspects in MACC and PDRM custody to be stopped. I want a responsible, accountable, open and decent government in Putrajaya. And this is what any decent, rational and decent human being will want for himself and for the people we left behind in Malaysia.         

Now onwards to Putrajaya! ABU!       

The Malays are a danger to themselves!

For the Malays, by all accounts, by any criteria you may wish to use, be it demographics, politics or economic, by reason of faith, logic or rationale,this era that the Malays now live in, should be the times of our greatest triumph and achievements. O you Malays....look around you and you will see no discernible threats to our political and economic place in Malaysia, no viable opposition to our place in government in the economy and certainly nothing remotely of any danger to our position as the Tuan of all that we survey.

No threats whatsoever....EXCEPT FROM OTHER MALAYS!

Ironic is it not? The Malays are a danger to themselves! 

If anyone can topple the Malay dominated government, it will be the Malays themselves. If anyone is to put in place an independent and open Judiciary to dispense justice, it will be the Malays themselves. The whole government machinery, the Armed Forces, the Police, the religious authorities who are hell bent on propagating the teachings of ALLAH (as the Malays sees it!)  - all of them tainted to accommodate, nay even encourage some Malays to advance their personal and political agenda in their own interest  - all of this can only be changed by the Malays for only the Malays has the numbers that can be manifested into the political will to make it all happen.

So are the Malays at war with one another? Are the Malays being goaded by the Chinese, the Indians and the people of Sabah and Sarawak to go for each others throats and in the process abrogate their political dominance over the others and thus allow the others to gain government over Malaysia and over the Malays?

Those questions are now on the minds of many Malays. On the minds of too many Malays! It is the Malays that now dominate government and it is also the Malays who now lead the opposition. What Is done in government and where the opposition will go will be decided by Malays. 

And as a Malay I am concerned, conflicted, confused and troubled. 

All this I am, not for myself, not for the Malays....I am concerned, conflicted, confused and troubled for my Malaysia. For the people who call Malaysia their home For the many faiths that many Malaysians believe in that are now under threat from the Malays - including, if I may add, Islam itself. For the Malaysian who are without any faith too. For everyone who still call Malaysia home no matter where they are now. It is for all these people I am concerned, conflicted, confused and troubled. And so must you.

And there are enough Malays who are concerned, conflicted, confused and troubled at the state of our nation today...enough of them to make a difference? Are there enough Malays who worry about how the Malays are to survive in the decades to come, not only as Malays but as part of a nation where, by their sheer numbers and presence, the Malays should lead and do not...enough Malays to also make a difference to this?

I have asked all these questions as a prelude to what I intend to write about in these next week or so. I want to write about why our Malay leaders who are all powerful, with very large armies at their disposals and with billions in their deep pockets - why do they not understand that with power comes great responsibility?

I want to write about why, when fate, providence and the votes of the rural electorates have put many Malays in high public office, why are these Malay leaders not smart enough to understand that the spoils of political and public office are best ignored if not to be avoided all together for greed and avarice are for thieves, robbers and the dregs of society...not for ministers, prime ministers and those who hold public office.

And sadly, all these people I want to write about, are Malays.

cakap cakap...THE MALAYS

At the risk of being label whatever it is that people would want to label me...let me make my stand clear on a number of issues.

I do not need anybody to tell me that the Malays, of which I am one, are blind to what Malay politicians are doing to advance their own personal political agenda.

I do not need for anyone to tell me that the Muftis, Jakim, Jawi and all those so called Islamic authorities, entities or "what have you" masquerading as doing ALLAH's work on Earth are doing the bidding of their political masters who pays them their salaries to enable them to put rice on their family table each day.

I do not need for any infidels, or any other Malays for that matter, to tell me to open my eyes to the prosecution and persecution of the other races, other religions and those whose thoughts, ideas and ideals differ from those of umno, pas or for that matter any other Islamic authorities!

And let no other Malaysian tell me that for as long as the Malays have the numbers and are convinced that Malaysia is their Tanah Air, and that Islam is their religion of choice to be imposed and hold sway not only over the Malays but over any one else that chooses to make Malaysia their home....that is how long this nation, its people and its future will be mired in the toxic abyss of ignorance, racial and religious emptiness and nothingness.

I know all this....and more. 

For as long as I could think for myself I have already asked myself what role will I allow religion to play in my life. From the time I could think for myself I have already asked why should I allow anyone to tell me that the Chinese and the other races are a threat to my own survival. To my own existence. To my own ability to survive in what they tell me is my own Tanah Air. And from the time I could think for myself, I resolve that all this, and more, I will work out for myself, rationalise for myself and make my own decision on religion, race and politics. And with all things that has to do with life....with MY life, I will carefully think for myself and weigh the pros and cons of what is around me, within me and without me.....and then come to a conclusion that, in my own mind, is not only right, but fair and correct to myself and more important, to those that I love, that I care for and for all those that are living in the world with me.

And yet with all this in mind....I also understand that while I may like to have my Nescafe black...there are others who will not drink Nescafe without milk or cream. Hell there are many others who will not even drink Nescafe!

I understand that while I choose to live in Melbourne there are others who will not live anywhere else but in Hutan Melintang or Batang Berjuntai or Pontianak because to them,  that is Home. And they see no reasons to leave Home for Melbourne. 

And much to my chagrin, I also understand and accept that while I consider the thieving, robbing, swindling eldest son of Tun Razak, namely one najib razak, to be the scum of this earth....there are many others who will worship the very earth he walks on and kiss his hands that have just scratch his balls while he was in the toilet just before he turun padang to met his adoring masses.

And that my friend is how most of us live our life. The giving, getting and sharing and accepting that we are all different from the other and yet we are all the same - for are we all not of the same kind? The Human kind? Unity in diversity? Live and let live?

I wish it was so. 

Common sense will tell you it is not for there are many among us who will take what is not rightful theirs. Steal even from others, what they want. There are many among us that will use race and religion for their personal agenda. And worse, there are many who will do you physical harm. They will deprive you of your god given rights to live your own life as you think fit and freedom to think and do as you please in as long as you do no harm to others...and they will do all this because they can! They will do this because political power confers upon them the ability to do so. Such is the state of our nation today. And it is so because umno is the political force dominant over everything else. 

I saw this happening in Malaysia over three decades ago and not wanting my children to grow up in that place...I left Malaysia to live elsewhere. In Australia to be exact. So for those of you who do not know me personally....do not preach to me about what is happening in Malaysia today...about the Malays, about race and religion and about Umno and politicians who abuse the electoral trust the people has given them when they were elected to public office. 

Of for that matter, do not blame any Malay for what you perceived to be the weakness of the Malays or of Muslims to accept the abuses and misuses of Public Office by Malays who now have political power. You do not know the individual circumstances of the Malays who have had to live under umno and under the Islam that umno propagate to advance their political agenda. 

I could, and did, tell umno and najib to F**K OFF and go live elsewhere. They could not. 

And when your periok nasi is dependent on what najib and umno does....what else can you do but allow najib and umno to be in government in the hope that what they do while in government will advantage you personally and hopefully, the Malays and Islam in general....for most of the Malay masses this is what matters in their life for now. 

Will the Malays change? 

Why not ask if your thoughts and the thoughts of your father and those of your own blood had remained constant throughout out the ages? Nothing does! It will change and we can only hope, for the better! And that is all we can hope for to happen....and if you can be that agent for positive change that will benefit us all and benefit our nation....who not be it?

This is why I do this blog. That is why I spend hours writing and trying to make you guys stop a while on this blog....in the hope that what you read here will make you do what I do to try and make change happen....and that is simply this. 

People are different from you and me. If you want them to come onto our side....go sit with them, share a drink or a meal with them....and talk. And in the talking listen to what they have to say...listen to their hopes, their aspirations and their fear and try to understand why they think they way they do. And when you listen to them....you can only hope that they too will listen to you....and maybe.....just maybe....the two of you can walk together towards the Malaysia that we all want and aspire to.

We have been asked to announce our stand, clarify our beliefs and indicate our preferences on many issues...and to do so loudly and publicly. On religious, racial and political matters to start with, and then we are again asked to state our stand and make commitments in the name of various causes from Malay unity to Islam....and any number of things in between.

Where in the past Islam had accepted, coexisted and tolerated Malay customs and the ways of the Buddhist, Christians and Hindus, today the widespread application of Shariah Islamic law code based (so they say) on the Quran, dominates to a point bordering to the extreme or, as most of us would prefer to see, a farce of comedic proportions ....supermarket lines separated by gender and and shopping trolleys marked halal and non halal.

Shariah compliant airlines took off in December 2015 but alas landed with a thump a few months later despite guaranteeing pork-free meals, alcohol bans and hijab wearing flight attendants. It would seem that being Shariah compliant does not guarantee the viability of such a business venture.....common sense will tell you that financial viability in any business is determined by other more practical considerations than just being Shariah compliant! 

Today being a Malay is no longer enough to enable you to go earn a decent living or allow you to live in peace. 

You have to be  a Malay with Umno or (heavens forbid!) PAS. You must adhere to the religious pronouncements of those loud Muftis with an eye to political correctness (as seem from the eyes of their political masters). What kind of idiotic pronouncements are being uttered by these 'Government appointed Muftis?" Try these for a start.....

Let us recap...:

• And of course I have to vote for Umno - or else I can be arrested for being a threat to national security or worse, be murdered by a religious moron doing the bidding of that Mufti from Pahang!

Malaysia is being turned in Arabia. Saudi Arabia to be precised.....and that RM2.6 billion donation that Najib Razak did say he received from a Saudi Prince, might or might not have anything to do with it. 

And all this while the wife of the Prime Minister dabbles in Black Magic!

All this while Ibrahim, aka Kelana Indra Sakti aka Raja Bomoh Sedunia is doing brisk business with even a stretch Mercedes-Benz limousine  parked in the driveway of his house 

What are we Malays to make of all this? I do not know about other Malays for I know not what they make of all this but suffice to say that confusion reigns not only among the Malays but also among the non-Malays!

Look around you and you will see that many many non-Malays now want to be Malays!

What is a Malay to do?

The Malays are in flux. They are being torn apart for it would seems that respecting each other point of view and agreeing to disagree with grace seems not to be the way Malays are behaving today. And across the board - from the very poor to the very rich....this division is being driven by the want, the need and certainly the greed for money driven by the criminal elite in Umno that reveres money as it's KING!

Go make your own choices. 

Before you demean any one who chooses money over anything else ask yourself if you are yourself really above greed. Ask yourself what would it take for you to go over to the other side....whichever side that you were originally on initially with.

We are all flawed. 

We are all susceptible to make decisions that will not only favor us but also favor the well beings of our loved ones.

If we are ever to be put in a situation where we must make those choices what choice we make will depend not only on our ability to hold on to our principles ...but more critical...who is watching us ...who will know of our decisions and what is being offered...is it a life altering offer that would set you up for life and take care of your loved ones for the term of their natural life?

These are the choices facing so many Malays today.

More so for those in Government and in politics. 

And when you have a political party like Umno that has the political will and ability to make these kind of offers to Malays just so that they can remain in government...it is a big ask for any Malay to say "NO"....and in passing let me also say that it will be difficult too, for the non-Malays to say "NO". 

So we are all in the same boat....with the Malays being the first among equals...with the Malays having the first option, the first opportunity, the first offer "on a platter" to say "YES" or "NO" before the others gets a bite of the cherry.

And as the Kuala Kangsar and Sungai Besar by-election have confirmed...the electorates are still enamored with what money can do to their personal situation...enamored enough to give their votes to BN.

But I do not want to be a Malay that cannot pull out during sex without his wife's consent, a Malay whose wife will agree to have sex "even on camel", a Malay that will do the bidding of that Mufti from Pahang to kill on sight any DAP "Harbi" members and I do not want to be a Malay who votes for a corrupt Umno.

I will not do these things. 

And I blog about why I will not do these things in the hope that I will bring others over to where I am now and together we stand against a rampaging, corrupt and arrogant Umno led by this odious and most corrupt of Malay leaders who calls himself a Bugis Warrior (NOT!).

I am still a Malaysia citizen with a PR to live in Australia. My five year passport expired three years ago....and I am not even bothered to renew it because unless there is a change in government, I have no desire to go back to K Hell...where the prospect of being a "person of interest" to PDRM because of what I write in my blog does makes me uncomfortable. 

I am one of those Malays that chooses to not live under a government run by a corrupt and arrogant Umno. I am one of those Malays that spit on the likes of Najib and his wife because of what they have done to in the name of government. In fact I spit on any leader that cannot explain the millions that they have in their personal bank account. I am also one of those Malays who understands that unless our nation is rid of this Umno led BN government, I will never be able to set foot again in the nation I call my own...Malaysia. 

It is not big deal to live outside Malaysia....and you can ask the millions of Malaysians that have left Malaysia to migrate to places all over the globe...it really is no hardship to live outside Malaysia. Life is better, more comfortable and your right as a human being is not only respected but guaranteed under the laws of those countries that we Malaysians have now chosen to be our own.

Do we want to go back to Malaysia? Some of us do but most of us do not...why go back to the Malaysia that have made us leave because of religion, race and politics? 

But it would be good if I could go back for visits to Malaysia as and when I want to without having to worry about being a "person of interest" to PDRM...especially when my old man did served in PDRM for a good many years...and until a decade or so ago, I still did consider myself a family member of the extended PDRM family.

But as I have said earlier, we Malays have had to make decisions that we really do not want to make because we know that making those decisions only serves to take me further away from my own kind.  

As the Malays are being pulled apart I know that every time I hantam a Malay it is akin to "ludah di atas langit"...killing my own kind!

Yes slowly but surely I am killing my own kind...and I do not like to do that...I do not like to continue to do that....and this is the dilema that Umno is exploiting to their political advantage when they come across any Malay that is against Umno.  I have to try and balance what I do so that what I blog about the Malays can be constructive in creating awareness among the Malays that, among other things,  their present situation is being "managed" by Umno for Umno's political survival. 

I do not always succeed because in writing about the corrupt and arrogant Umno leaders what these Umo leaders do in the name of government also colors the perception of what the non-Malays think about the Malays. And it does not help that Umno itself reminds the Malays of the need for Ketuanan Melayu, of the need to have the Islam that they consider "necessary" for the advancement of Islam and of the need to have Umno in power for the Malays to "succeed" and not be trampled by the Chinese. All this makes a heady concoction of circumstances that keeps all of us - Malays and non-Malays on edge and wary of what is to come next. 

And of course all this further erodes what ever "racial harmony" that still left among us all.

As a Malay...I choose to live on my own terms. That is why Australia is now my home and Melbourne my city of choice....and if that means I will not again see K Hell and the Malaysia that I left many years ago....so be it!
