He's winning the battle but can the Cash King win the war?
Money politics is now embedded in
Malay politics and it is they who will determine, more than at any other
time in the history of our nation, the fate of Najib and of Umno
Day by day we are becoming familiar with the ways that Umno
conducts itself. What was once the secretive inner workings of a
political party known only to the privilege few is now common knowledge
to the many. It damns Umno to the ranks of the corrupt where, as their
current president aptly concluded, 'Cash is King' and he, Najib Razak,
with RM2.6 billion in his personal account, is gleefully the 'Cash
King!'
No wonder those privilege few within Umno’s inner sanctums are preoccupied in the getting of insane wealth for themselves numbering in the millions of ringgit - for that and many more millions are there for the taking by those who are able and willing to abuse the trust placed upon them by the three million Malays within Umno and many more millions of Malays outside Umno.
The odious and contemptible culture of money politics has now become part and parcel of Malay politics and Malay politicians quiet like how Islam is to a Malay. One without the other is simply impossible to imagine. Umno empowers its president, deputy president and treasurer to hold in trust under their personal self, the monies of Umno. When men and women of honour are given this weighty responsibility they will surely dispense their duty for the good of Umno and the Malays they claim to represent. But are there still men and women within Umno with honour?
