steadyaku47 comment : What is it that Malaysians have not done that the Indonesians, the Pinoys and the Thais have done? Very simply the Indonesians, the Pinoys and the Thais did not turn the other cheek when their government / leaders did the dirty on them.

Indonesia : Suharto : Dubbed the most corrupt world leader of the past two decades by Transparency International, Suharto stole $35 billion through a system of corruption, collusion and nepotism. In a 1999 expose in Time Asia, Pertamina was forced to import and export its oil through two Suharto-family trading companies, which charged up to 35 cents a barrel for the service. Other Suharto-related companies enjoyed favorable contracts to provide the oil monopoly with everything from cafeteria food to insurance. When Pertamina's books were finally audited in July 1999, it was estimated that at least $6.1 billion had been stolen in this manner. Brendan Koerner

The Philippines : Marcos is estimated to have siphoned off between $5 and $10 billion. This ill-gotten wealth was accumulated through six channels: outright takeover of large private enterprises; creation of state-owned monopolies in vital sectors of the economy; awarding government loans to private individuals acting as fronts for Marcos or his cronies; direct raiding of the public treasury and government financial institutions; kickbacks and commissions from firms working in the Philippines; and skimming off foreign aid and other forms of international assistance.World Bank, Stolen Asset Recovery Database.
Marcos institutionalised corruption on such a scale we continue to feel its effects today. In his 20 years in power, the country’s foreign debt metastasised from about $1 billion to over $25 billion; in a statement released last year, FDC repeats the estimate that as much as a third of all that debt, about $8 billion, went into his pockets or those of his cronies. The country will continue paying for all that debt until 2025. - See more at: http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2013/09/11/corruption-philippines-marcos-was-worst.html#sthash.LM9vKGcH.dpuf

Thailand : Thaksin was accused of “policy corruption”, such as infrastructure and liberalization policies that, while legal and a potential benefit to society, also aided companies that were owned by his family members. Supannee Chai-amporn and Sirinthip Arun-rue of the National Institute of Development Administration claimed that policy corruption caused the state to spend nearly 30 per cent more than it otherwise should have spent, costing the state an additional 400 billion baht. Other examples cited were the Board of Investment granting tax breaks worth a total of Bt16.4 billion to Shin Satellite for its iPSTAR project in 2003, and the Transport Ministry’s decision the same year to abolish the minimum air fare of Bt3.8 /km when Shin Corp was about to enter into a joint venture with low-cost carrier AirAsia to open a Thai subsidiary. Malaysia : Najib Razak _1987 Kampung Baru Ethnic tension ;Najib threatens to bathe a keris in Chinese blood, Minister of Defence : Eurocopter, Scorpene Submarines, Sukhoi Fighters, Naval Patrol Boats, Missing Jet Engines, Perak Crisis, Murder of Altantuya, Private Investigator Balasubramanium, Anwar Ibrahim Sodomy Two, 1MDB, RM2.6 billion donation, RM42 million from SRC International etc etc etc.

The fall of Suharto, Marcos and Thaksin happened because the people had enough of corruption by their leaders. The people took to the streets in the hundreds and thousands if not in the millions, to demonstrate their contempt for these leaders and suffered the consequences of their action, sacrificing when neccessary, their lives.

But what of Najib in Malaysia?

He is still Prime Minister. The corruption, the looting, pillaging and plundering of our country's coffers continues unabated, if not has even accelearted, as Najib and his cohorts realized that time is no longer on their side. What will Malaysians now do to try and salvage what is left of our nation, our national coffers, our people, our society and our future?

Indonesians had done it.
The Pinoys had done it.
The Thais had done it.
Will the Malaysians do it ?
