In Malaysia today, much as been made of matters, issues and happenings that, in retrospect and hindsight, are really of no significance when taken in the context of what really matters in life. In our life. We have made much of Camels, of Bomohs, of Hermes Bags, of that Kipidap guy, Jamal Jamban, Berahim Berok that Sultan in Malacca and now....a "Muslim only Laundrette" in Johor. A Laundrette that has got the Sultan of that state, our King and his brother Rulers, all lathered up! For the right or wrong reasons?
Really? All over a Laundrette? What would Mahathir have done if it had happened during his time as Prime Minister? What would Tunku, Tun Razak and Tun Hussein have done if it had happened during their time in Office?
They would not have had to do anything at all.
They would not have had to do anything at all because nothing of this sort would have happened during their time in office. These would be no need for any Sultan to get involved...what more the King! No Malaysians, then, would be stupid enough to think that the government of those day would tolerate such crass religious and racial inspired stupidity to happen. Those prime ministers were not perfect - they each have their imperfections - but no Malaysian would be left in any doubt that these prime ministers would come down hard with all the political fire and brimstone's they could muster, upon any one who thinks that opening a Muslim only Laundrette, fornicating on a Camel, buying Hermes bags by the truckload, the antics of that Kipidap guy, Jamal Jamban, Berahim Berok and the self proclaimed Sultan of Malacca would be allowed to happen during their term in office.
Today, under Najib Razak, these are common everyday happenings. Go figure out why it is so.
