cakap cakap...the IGP again?

KUALA LUMPUR: The Royal Malaysian Police is now making it a point to station good-looking, smart and personable police officers at all frontline positions to present a more friendly and accessible image to the public.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar told the New Sunday Times that he wanted his men to present a personable and smart image to the public.

"We want the public to feel our friendliness, so it isn’t just about placing those with good-looking faces or having a nice body out there. It is about mannerisms and personality, too. They must be good-natured," he said.

However, he was cautious to commit that this "new policy" was for every frontline position in the country.

"Of course, we can’t do it for every (frontline) position, everywhere, that
is impossible. But we hope to do our best as we feel this is what the public wants. Of course, not all can, or must, be good-looking, but it is a plus factor."

steadyaku47 comment:

Every day we are confronted by irrefutable evidence that those who manage our country's affairs are morons, mentally challenged or lacking in common sense! How can this Inspector General Of Police of ours announced that the Royal Malaysian Police will now make a point to station good-looking, smart and personable police officers in front line positions to present a more friendly and accessible image to the public. Off the top of my head does that mean that he is disqualifying himself as the "FACE" for PDRM? Aisehman by any criteria known to man you cannot put this IGP amongst the "good-looking faces" ...can you? Can you imagine the repercussions this will have on the other government departments? Who will be the "good-looking face" for the AG's office? Certainly not the AG! And what about PERKASA? Where can you hide Ibrahim Ali?...and I am not going to go into MCA, MIC or UMNO. I am not going there but you can...and have a good laugh while doing so!

How does this IGP propose to identify the "good-looking faces" of PDRM? Does he think that having "good -looking face" in the Balai will draw in the public to go and have a look see and maybe chat up these "good-looking faces." Are husbands and wives in PDRM to start worrying about the keenness of their spouses to go to work each day? Not to earn their daily bread and do their duty to bangsa, negara dan King but more because there are "good-looking faces" around the balai? How soon do you think before PDRM becomes "THE PLACE" to go even if you have nothing to report except for the fact that want to "bond" with these "good-looking faces." Better to go the the Police Station then to Starbucks ...cheaper too!

Dear GOD why did you not make this IGP a little bit smarter?

Mr IGP what we want you to do first is to stop your officers from treating the public as their own personal piggy bank! When your officers needs money to pay their children's school fees -they go look for the public to fleece. When they want new clothes for Hari Raya - they go look for the public to contribute. When they want to buy new dresses for their second wives or girlfriends-again the public have to donate towards the costs. Stop this corruption and you will not have to worry about putting "good-looking faces" in front line positions.

Stop your officers from whacking suspects under your custody and you will see an immediate "friendliness" in the manner the Rakyat will now behave towards PDRM.
And here is a better thing you should really try and do. Stop murdering suspects under your custody and you really will not have to worry about "PDRM's Image" in as far as the Malaysian public is concern.

You see Tan Sri my father was in the police many many years ago when Tun Haniff was the IGP. His worry then was to ensure that his officers did their duty to King and Country by treating the Public with decency, courtesy and respect. The uniform the mata mata then wore was respected by the public because they did their job well and without fear or favor. And if there were any talk about corruption then it was not because these mata mata were taking money from the public for their daily needs but it was because the Police were doing their job in catching those who tried to bribe them!

Mr IGP stop and think again. These cosmetics makeover of PDRM will not do anything to improve your tarnished image as a corrupt Police force doing the bidding of your political masters without regard for your duty of care towards the Rakyat. Do the simple things first. Stop corruption within PDRM. Stop doing the bidding of your political masters to harass the Rakyat and those in the opposition and in time your image will improve. And I know that your proposal to have PDRM's front line represented by "good-looking faces" is doom to failure because you do not have that many "good-looking faces" in PDRM now... and recruiting and training new ones will simply take too long...by then the 13th general election will be over and the new government will probably want some one "more presentable" then you. How does it feel now Mr IGP?

Mussolini reincarnated?

Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini led the National Fascist Party and is credited with being one of the key figures in the creation of Fascism. He became the 40th Prime Minister of Italy in 1922 and began using the title Il Duce by 1925. After 1936, his official title was "His Excellency Benito Mussolini, Head of Government, Duce of Fascism, and Founder of the Empire". Mussolini also created and held the supreme military rank of First Marshal of the Empire along with King Victor Emmanuel III of Italy, which gave him and the King joint supreme control over the military of Italy.
II DUCE

Death came to Benito Mussolini from the rifles of an Italian firing squad. As his body lay, reviled and spat upon, in a public square of Milan, it was as though the pent-up jury of a nation was beating upon the senseless clay of the man who had led it to vainglory, shame and disaster.
Malaysia now has it's own Mussolini....and this is HE.
While Mussolini was known as Il Duce
this Ibrahim Ali shall from now on be known as
II P*KI
(and I apologise for the profanity)
but pray tell me how else can he be better described?

Corruption in Malaysia: Some pertinent solutions

Langkawi International Dialouge....International kepala otak dia!

As Najib tries to bolster his global image - we have him in Kazakhstan a few weeks back arranging the engagement of his daughter while on the side lines he addressed a forum of world leaders (none of whom is of any significance!) on Islamic good governance! Today he and his First Lady welcomes Mugabe to the Langkawi International Dialogue. A total of 25 Heads of State/Government have been invited to attend LID 2011 while the total number of participants is expected to be approximately 500 people. There is mention of eminent personalities who would be the panelists for the Session....but that is about all that we are told about the "INTERNATIONAL" aspect of this dialogue. Who is this Mugabe.....please see below: It would seem that there are many similarities between Mugabe style of government and that of UMNO - i.e cling to power at any costs! Birds of a feather.....

KU LI : THOSE WERE THE DAYS

PRESS RELEASE.

“THOSE WERE THE DAYS by YBM Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, at Perak Lectures,
organized by Perak Academy on Saturday 18
Main Hall, Taiping, Perak.

th June 2011 at 8:45PM at the New Club,
Malaysia’s post-colonial history began with optimism and a grand hope in 1957.
When Tunku Abdul Rahman, the first Prime Minister of Malaysia, proclaimed our
Independence at the Merdeka Stadium in the unforgettable words that “Malaysia is a
parliamentary democracy with an independent judiciary,” he had a vision of a happy
people in spite of the formidable economic problems we needed to solve. After that
dawn of independence, there was a search of how we could achieve this happy society,
fulfilling the needs and aspirations of all Malaysians which was to continue for the
generations to come. He symbolized the concept and conviction of generational
responsibility in his vision.

2. Tunku Abdul Rahman and his generation were dedicated leaders, not for power
but a sense of duty to the present and the future. They were not in politics for the money
or for themselves. Indeed, even after they had assumed power, they never used their
position to benefit themselves or their families, nor did they build loyal cronies who
would act as their financiers or hold any wealth unlawfully earned at the expense of the
people.

3. The guiding philosophy was responsibility of public office. Public office was seen
as a duty, not as an opportunity. The public office was also part of their sense of
political commitment to create a Malaysia that was fair, just, cohesive, and balanced.
This was combined by a deep conviction of generational responsibility for those who
would come after them.

4. One of the greatest losses in public life and in politics today in Malaysia is that loss
of generational responsibility. Everything seems to be surrounded by greed and the
desire to be billionaires. This had led to a pyramid of cronies within the incumbent
political parties and their associates in business. It is this combination of the hierarchy
of political cronies and business cronies that led to the centralization of power in the
incumbent political leadership and in the office of the Prime Minister.

5. This power in one individual allowed the manipulation of the political system; I
mean by this the institutions of power including the media. In exchange for the
centralization of power greed and self-interest was encouraged by example and in the
guise of racial loyalty deserving rewards. This is the case in all the parties within the
power structure. This state of affairs is one of the most dangerous and difficult to
dismantle because there has been three decades of centralized power.

6. The political style that has dominated in these lost three decades has been
“double-think” and “double-talk”. One of the features which is alarming in this plan to
maintain status quo is the encouragement covertly of racial and religious obscurantism.
The underlying theme was a policy of using a balance of racialism and religion on the
one hand and talks of unity on the other hand in order to make the people hostage to the
status quo of power. As a result, racialism and racial concerns seem to have a grip on all
aspects of our lives, in politics, economics, education and employment, irrespective of
the present reality which has got nothing to do with race or religion. We are deliberately
made to feel that we are hostage to these forces.
7. Freedom of speech and expression of our political concerns to change the
atmosphere are restrained by how it will be interpreted by those who want to deny us the
right to differ. Article 10 of the Constitution which guarantees this freedom is almost
non-existence or subject to fear of retaliation or defamation. Legal suits intended to
silence legitimate concerns of public responsibility are increasingly used. Unfortunately,
our judicial system has forgotten the fundamental importance of Article 10 to the
democratic life of Malaysia. Common sense seems to have been taken out of the law.

8. On the economic front, income inequality in Malaysia has widened. Some studies
suggest that Malaysia’s inequality is wider than Thailand’s or Indonesia’s. Historically,
the concern was about ownership and control of the economy. It was the view of some
that if ownership was de-racialized or balanced at the top, economic justice would
follow. It is no longer a valid premise for the future. Income inequality is no longer a
problem between races; it crosses the racial divide and it is a problem of the majority of
Malaysians who feel the pressure of inflation in almost every essential aspects of their
lives, challenging their well being of themselves, their families, and their future. Today
and the in the near future, this is the most serious challenge we face. It is not an easy
challenge to overcome. It is a time when Malaysia needs leadership of the highest quality
and of those who have the moral courage to change and re-think our economic policies.

9. It is in these circumstances that we face the serious problem of rising food prices,
inflation in price of houses compounded by shortage in housing for the vast majority of
young Malaysians. Lack of economic expansion to give all levels an opportunity to use
their talents to seek work that is commensurate with their contribution, their needs of
daily life, and to narrow the inequality gap, is the threat of the future. Therefore, we
should be concerned about the justification of the removal of subsidies that affects the
low income because that will further widen the inequality and open the society to social
disorder and disintegration, and increase social in cohesion. It is in this context that I
raise the issue about Independent Power Production Companies (IPP). The privatization
contracts are today protected by the Official Secrets Act, and therefore we are unable to
really know whether or not the public and Petronas, as trustees of the public, are directly
or indirectly subsidizing these companies and the tycoons who are benefitting at the
expense of the public.

10. Related to the question of the withdrawal of subsidies is the deficit that the
Government suffers from in managing the economy. This question cannot be separated
from the way that the Government has managed the nation’s finances. If the deficit is as
a result of wastage, corruption and extravagance in the use of public funds, then the
solution to the problem should not be passed on to the public. What is needed is a
reexamination of the management of the country’s finances before taking any drastic
steps that would affect the well being of the people. We need to know the reality behind
the apparent subsidies that are given to the public and its relationship in the totality of
the management of the public finance. Only after we know the truth – and the whole
truth – should any change in the policy of subsidies be implemented, as the
consequences would have life-changing impact on the livelihood of the people. In the
circumstances of rising inflation in food, stagnation of the economy and income, we
should not do anything that would widen the disparity of income which would cause
social instability.

11. The challenge today is for the return to generational responsibility in politics and
public office. This can only be achieved if we have democracy and parliamentary power
which is responsible. Democracy was the basis of the founding of the state of Malaysia

by the Constitution in 1957. When it was briefly suspended in 1969, the leaders of that
generation were uneasy, and they restored democracy as soon as possible.

12. That is because they realized that democracy has an intrinsic value in creating a
citizenship that is not made up of sheep but of responsible citizens. Only responsible
citizenship that understands democracy can bring about stability, cohesion and
economic prosperity. During those days, it was ingrained in that generation of leaders
that democracy was not only a form but a value system that respected the essential
institutions of democracy like the independence of judiciary, the supremacy of
parliament subject to the Constitution, the respect for fundamental rights, and free
speech. They also understood the meaning and primacy of the rule of law and not of
men. They also knew that democracy is the common heritage of humanity that we
inherited and have a duty to continue. The law that they understood was also from the
common heritage of all civilized nations.

13. And one of our inheritances is the common law system of the rule of law which is
enshrined in our constitution. They knew that the phrase “common law” meant the
wisdom that is passed to us in the progress of law and the values that are encapsulated
in the law governing public office and responsibility to society. That laws are meant to
enhance democracy and freedom but not to maintain and continue political power that is
inconsistent with the rule of law and the constitution.

14. Independence did not come with peace but with very difficult problems,
particularly the management of the economy and transforming it to bring about a
balance between all the racial groups. They realize that some of their problems had
roots in the history of Malaysia. There was a serious imbalance between the countryside
and the urban sector with racial dimensions which were too sharp. Indeed, poverty was
also quite prevalent. There were open discussions and experiments.

15. Some of you may remember that one of the highlights of public debate was
organized at the University of Malaya under the title, “The Great Economic Debate” every
year. That disappeared with the changes in the University & Colleges Act and the decline
of Universities’ autonomy. The search was to eradicate a sense of inequality between the
various peoples of Malaysia, whether because of one’s identity and social origins, or for
other reasons.

16. It was as part of this search that during Tun Abdul Razak’s time, the Second
Malaysia Plan was launched in 1971. We need to be reminded of the objective of that
plan:
“National unity is the over-riding objective of the country. A stage has been
reached in the nation’s economic and social development where greater emphasis
must be placed on social integration and more equitable distribution of income and
opportunities for national unity.”

17. That dream was slowly eroded from the mid-1980. The hope that we had at that
time is now challenged in the most serious way.

18. Recently, Petronas announced that it had made a 90.5 billion pre-tax profit. If we
accumulate the profit of Petronas over the years, it would come to a mind-boggling figure
of billions and billions. Yet, the greatest poverty is found in the petroleum producing
states of Kelantan, Terengganu, Sarawak, and Sabah. This moral inconsistency in a way
exemplifies how the nation’s economy is mismanaged and how the institutions set up in
the 1970’s have lost their objective and commitment to solving the immediate and
pressing problems of the nation.

19. Petronas was set up with the objective of serving the nation’s interest as a priority.
It was never intended to give Petronas a life of its own as an incorporated company for
selected individuals to profit at the expense of the national interest, nor was it the
objective to allow Petronas a cooperate existence independent of national interest.

20. What is needed is for institutions like Petronas is to have a national focus rather
than maintain a multinational status. The aim of making Petronas a multinational
cooperation at the expense of national interest is contrary to the Petroleum Development
Act. Petronas should have a Petroleum Advisory Council to advise the Prime Minister on
the operation of the law as well as the managemend and utilization of its resources as
spelt out in the Petroleum Development Act.

21. Another example of the abuse of power is the privatization of certain government
institutions which were set up as a public service to serve the people. Bernas is one
example of a privatization of an essential commodity as a monopoly for a group of
people and owned partially by two companies in Hong Kong. An essential commodity
such as rice should not have been privatized for business purposes. We are the only rice
producing country that has privatized and given as a monopoly to one company the
importation and distribution of all rice products.

22. The reality today is Thailand and Indonesia are self sufficient in rice and we are
dependant on 30% of imported rice. But because it is a monopoly, imported rice is
cheaper in Singapore than Malaysia. Privatization for the benefit of private individuals to
profit from such an essential commodity is a clear abuse of power. It would not have
happened in those days. But with the centralization of power in the office of the prime
Minister who had the party under his absolute control, anything was possible!

23. I will suggest to you that there was a deliberate plan to centralize power in the
leadership in a surreptitious manner. Unfortunately the nature of racial politics blinded
us of the reality behind certain policies and conduct of leaders at that time. The decline
of democracy, the abuse of power, and the mismanagement of our economy and the
nation’s finances, the economic waste, the lack of national cohesion in our economic
policies led to the flight of capital in the region of RM880 billion over the years from the
1980s. That was the beginning the lost decades and the full impact of the consequences
of the economic policies which has continued since then, is yet to have its full impact on
our national lives. And when it does the consequences are unpredictable.

24. The centralization of power in the office of the Prime Minister and the Attorney
general had a major role in this state of affairs. The challenge today is to reverse the
centralization of power and restore the check and balance of a genuine democracy.

25. We need to reclaim as citizens of Malaysia our rights in a democracy; that power
and authority are positions of trust and responsibility, not to serve personal interest or
as an opportunity for personal enrichment. We need to reassert as politically active and
responsible citizens the concept of social obligation and public service in those who seek
political office. Power is duty, NOT a prize.

26. We need to rethink our economic policies. Particularly in the focusing on the
national objectives that are urgent; economic policies is not only about wealth creation
but needs to have a moral dimension which takes into account the well being of all
citizens as the ultimate priority over profits.

27. I have given you a broad sweep of the past and a bird’s eye view of the looming
problems of managing our economy as it is today. I hope this will open a dialogue which
benefits all of us.

Cakap cakap....BERSIH 2.0

BEAUFORT, June 18 – The opposition is hiding behind the planned Bersih 2.0 rally with a plot to topple the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government, Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said today.

Aisehman for once I am in agreement with this DPM of ours! Very perceptive of him to say that the opposition is trying to topple the ruling Barsian Nasional government. Wonder why it took him this long to figure that out. He must have put two and two together - what the last BERSIH rally did to BN and figured out if they could do that at the last 12th general election - they MUST be trying to do the same thing again now!

But just because UMNO is using PERKASA to kacahau the opposition that does not mean that the opposition is hiding behind BERSIH 2.0 to topple Barisan Nasional. What the opposition is doing is not hiding behind BERSIH 2.0 - the opposition is standing shoulder to shoulder with all those that wants a free and fair elections. UMNO hides behind Perkasa. UMNO covertly support Perkasa to do its dirty work for it. The opposition does not hide behind anything. Pakatan Rakyat is out there in the open being harassed by PDRM, by MACC, by UMNO and by all the government machinery's under the control of Barisan Nasional - and yet it is still standing strong and defiant because being right gives you strength to do what you have to do even in the face of overwhelming odds!

Here is the thing Muidin...this BERSIH 2.0 rally is a rally whose time has come. This is not something Tok Guru or Hadi, DSAI or Kit Siang can just pluck out of thin air and say "Let us get some Rakyats together to demand Free and Fair elections". This is not something that PAS can make happen because PAS supporters by themselves are not enough to make this rally a success. Nor can DAP or PKR - not without the support and participation of the Rakyat.

If you remember it was the people who made REFORMASI a reality for DSAI. There were enough people on the streets demanding REFORMASI to make Mahathir and the BN  government become disturbingly aware of their presence and their support for what DSAI then signified - a much needed promise for change.

Only the people can deliver the critical mass in terms of numbers to ensure that this BERSIH 2.0 Rally will have a voice loud enough to drown Perkasa or Pemuda UMNO. Because this is the Rakyats rally! The 62 NGO's can organize, support and encourage the Rakyat to turn up for the rally but what Muidin and Najib are so worried about is how the Rakyat will respond. That they are that worried is already one plus point for the steering committee of this BERSIH 2.0 rally. Syabas to them!

By all accounts the number that will turn up for this BERSIH 2.0 rally is massive. Huge. Overwhelming. And this of course worries Muidin. He knows that Perkasa is no match to what BERSIH 2.0 can deliver in terms of numbers. Pemuda UMNO is a more worthwhile opponent for BERSIH 2.0 to face only because it is Pemuda UMNO that has more to lose then BERSIH 2.0. KJ has nothing to lose. From where he is now in UMNO's hierarchy he can only go up...and being a spoiler for the BERSIH 2.0 rally seems about the only break he might have to do just that! He is past fighting for his political survival...he is clutching at straws to survive!

And so the stage is set for a confrontation. Not a confrontation for civilized and decent minds to each put forth their views and argue them out rationally and with grace. No, this will be a physical confrontation. Not a confrontation led by Keris brandishing Din or those empty headed UMNO zealots who are incredibly brave when faced with an UMNO assembly that cheers them on in the confines confines of PWTC! No! This will be a dry run for Perkasa and Pemuda UMNO to show UMNO what they can do in the run up to the 13th general elections! And it would seem that Perkasa and Pemuda UMNO are incredibly brave to face the thousands that will surely turn out in support of BERSIH 2.0!

Incredibly brave indeed! What is there to fear when you have PDRM and the ARMY backing you? What is there to fear when you are standing behind armed riot squad police against BERSIH 2.0 particiapnts who are unharmed? And what is there to fear when the government of the day will invoke the ISA and what have you against BERSIH 2.0 to ensure that their "bravery" is not for nothing! The coalition of the "incredibly brave" Persaka, Pemuda UMNO, UMNO, Barisan Nasional - all with incredibly large armies and deep pockets to fight against its own people!

POLICE PERMIT already given to PERKASA!

A government that is willing to push its people to the brink is an irresponsible government. It is irresponsible to allow Perkasa and Pemuda UMNO to hinder what BERSIH 2.0 intends to do. But what does UMNO care? What does Hishmauddin cares? What does the IGP cares? They think that they can control and manipulate the outcome of this confrontation by remote control to favour the Barisan Nasional government - their political masters. It is irresponsible because the volatility of the situation where race, religion and politics is to be manipulated to gain a preferred outcome is fraught with danger and unpredictability. Emotions and passions cannot be held in check. In a riot situation people will get hurt. People will get out of control People will die! Iff one life is lost....even if one Rakyat is injured - it will be a crime that our own government has commit against its own people

I know that most of you that intends to be with this BERSIH 2.0 rally are afraid! There is no shame in being afraid of baton wielding Policemen bent on beating the day lights out of their own people. There is no shame of being afraid of the ISA. What you should be ashamed of is if you sit by and do nothing! Do nothing about a government that thinks nothing of unleashing its physical force against it own people just so they can remain in power.

The most effective weapon against this Barisan Nasional government is its people. Do not forget that it was the people of Manila who came out in the hundreds of thousands in February 1986 to rid themselves of the Marcos after suffering 20 years of his pillaging and plundering of the people's nations wealth! The recent revolt in Egypt that rid themselves of the corrupt Hosni Mubarak regime was also the result of its people coming together to vent their frustration and anger - but only after 30 years of Mubarak's corrupt regime. And we have had over 50 years of UMNO - is it not enough?

Fifty over years of billions lost because of money politics. Fifty years of corruption, nepotism and greed which have by now become entrenched in the culture of UMNO....and sadly amongst the people of this country, primarily the Malays. Fifty years of teflon coated Barisan Nasional political leaders who still think that what they have done and what they are still doing is beyond our ability to comprehend! Not only do we comprehend but we are now prepared to do something about it! Observe what is on the electronic media! Read what we write on the blogs. Understand the implications of the opposition gains in the 12th general elections. Feel the "SURGE" that now reverberates amongst the people of this country! They are saying "ENOUGH!" They are saying "We will no longer tolerate politicians who are corrupt!"...and Perkasa or Pemuda UMNO stands in our way at their own peril.

I am not one for rhetoric's. Neither are those within the steering committee of BERSIH 2.0. What they have is a quiet determination and confidence of those who know they are on the side of what is right. They know that when need becomes greed then it is time that they step up to do their duty no matter what the costs will be to their personal self's! And believe you me that each and every one of those involved in the organizing of this BERSIH 2.0 rally is under enormous personal pressure to stand down and do the easy thing - run and hide from the mighty Barsian Nasional ogre!

Let us do the only thing we can do :
Join the BERSIH 2.0 rally.
Be not afraid for you will have the numbers.

"Safety in numbers is the hypothesis that, by being part of a large physical group or mass, an individual is proportionally less likely to be the victim of a mishap, accident, attack, or other bad event"

The wildebeest survival strategy is to bolt across a crocodile infested river in huge numbers. Yes there will be some of us that will be injured and taken in by PDRM -some migth even make the ultimate sacrifice with their life - but you need to have the numbers at the BERSIH 2.0 rally if the Barisan Nasional government is to understand that it is the Rakyat that they are up against! They already understand that reality now but this BERSIH 2.0 rally will be our way of showing Barisan Nasional how we intend to vote at the 13th general elections.

Nothing: Not Perkasa, not Pemuda UMNO, not PDRM not the threat of the ISA - nothing should prevent this BERSIH 2.0 rally - because it is a rally whose time has come!

"The public is the only critic whose judgment is worth anything at all".

ROSMAH an IMELDA wannabe?

"I was born ostentatious. They will list my name in the dictionary someday. They will use 'Imeldific' to mean ostentatious extravagance".
Imelda Marcos

It would seem that we now have our own Imelda Marcos? Yes I am talking about the Imelda Marcos of the 2700 pair of shoes she left behind in Malacanang Palace when she and her Marcos fled Manila. Why should this be a source or wonderment to anybody? Why indeed when it should really be disgust that one must feel when confronted by this extravagance. You ask yourself the same question when you hear of a person that has ten cars? You ask yourself the question "WHY?" Why ten cars when you can only use one a any one time? You also question the need of individuals like Tajuddin Ali, Amin Shah and Razak Baginda to embezzled hundreds of millions if not billions of ringgits of the Rakyat's money when what they would really need to feed themselves and keep themselves in comfort, luxury even, would be a fraction of what they have stolen from their own country - our country!
If you had at first pondered these realities in wonder I am sure this wonder will quickly turn to disgust : something akin to our reaction when confronted with the stealing of billions through PKFZ by those entrusted to manage the nation's assets.Yes we are disgusted with the extravagance of Imelda Marcos and now we have an Imelda in our midst?

How do you explain this? Our King and Queen, the Sultan of Pahang and his consort, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and his consort and a smattering of other royalties, diplomats and what have you...all for an engagement? If this was the engagement how grand will the wedding be? Get Obama and wife to come? After all even the Royal Wedding of Prince WIlliam and Miss Catherine Middleton was not graced by the Obama's! Would it be presumptuous or me to presume that our Raba Raba Ambassador aka JJ in Washington is already laying out the dollars to get Obama to agree to an official visit to Malaysia at the same time as the wedding of Rosmah's daughter? Though of course Obama will have to time his visit to coincide with the wedding - or wold it be the other way around...the wedding to coincide with Obama's visit? Knowing the "pull" and "cables" Rosmah has with our PM I think if anybody has to accommodate the other, it will certainly not be Rosmah!
Why? Why this necessity for this "grand gesture". Hermes handbag! Air brushed images! Batik Fashion shows in Monaco? Foreign trips abroad to represent our country - invited or not! Making comments over earthquakes and the tsunami tragedy in Japan! First Lady of Malaysia?

Consider all this and then you tell me if we already have our own Imelda Marcos or at least the beginning of one. But more pertinent is the question: "WHY?"

Why must she do all this when it is Najib who is our Prime Minister not Rosmah? Why must Rosmah even consider herself "almost the First Lady" of Malaysia when we already have our Queen! Why must she represent Malaysia overseas when she does not hold any executive position within the Malaysian government. Being the wife of our Prime Minister means exactly that : You are his wife! No I am not a male chauvinist pig that looks down on the female species - here we are talking about what are the duties of the wife of the Prime Minister of our country.

It is her duty to show the people of Malaysia some decorum and a lot of common sense in the way she conducts herself. I am no prude and if you want to air kiss or kiss anyone on the cheeks or where the sun don't shine - you can do so if you are not the wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia. If you are the wife of the Prime Minister of Malaysia then you are expected to behave like a good Muslim wife because as your husband is very fond of saying : Islam is the Official Religion of Malaysia! Just because nobody in your entourage - which, by the way includes your husband - is brave enough to tell you what you should and should not do in public then I guess the pubic....I mean the public, will have to tell you! And I am one of the public.

Rosmah having a grand engagement when your husband is talking about rationalising subsidies is not the right thing to do. It is enough that you and your family took advantage of an official trip to Kazakhstan to do a "personal" errand -now you want to compound this with a grand engagement? Huh! You stupid women. That grand engagement might have done wonders for your ego but it would have costs UMNO and Barisan Nasional a hell of a lot of brownies point - which basically means when Najib is no longer President of UMNO and Prime Minister of Malaysia - you would have contributed to his political demise quiet extravagantly. And for that we the Rakyat thank you!

Najib and BERSIH.

Try as I might to keep away from this BERSIH Rally it simply refuses to go away! And you might ask just why am I asking it to go away? Because just this once I am putting myself in Najib's place and trying to figure out what he will do.

First thing that came into my head was this George Carman comment which I thought described Najib's to a T: "He behaved like an ostrich and put his head in the sand. Therby exposing his thinking parts"....ouch! but so apt! Do you not think so?

Then this from Herbie Mann comes to mind " I always say, if you keep your head in the sand, you don't know where the kick's coming from" and a smile comes to my face as I picture DSAI placing a well timed kick at Najib's behind while his head is in the sand!
What about that son of Ibrahim? Well he would probably want to quote Shelly Morrison who said " If we sit by and become complacent and put our heads in the sand, we're complicit" and by this Ibrahim wants us to believe that Najib has so far been silent because he supports Perkasa and Pemuda UMNO in their endeavours to throw a spanner in what BERSIH wants.

AND WHAT DOES BERSIH WANTS?
FREE AND FAIR ELECTIONS!

I think there is a simpler and more fundamental explaination for what Najib has choosen to do. Simply said "Najib does not have the balls to do what he has to do!" Najib will sit and wait. Sit and wait until he thinks he has come up with what he thinks is a fail safe option. Time and time again he has done this when he has to choose between the devil and the deep blue sea. Some of you have been unkind enough to refer to Najib as Mr Rosmah...which I presume to mean that he will take his instructions from Rosmah. And I see that some of you are nodding your head in agreement to what I am presuming...well I would prefer to think of Najib as doing an "ostrich" then listening to Rosmah. At least that way I can still think that he is not allowing that Rosmah to control him! Either way Najib is F#@ked.

For now Najib is watching how things develop. That BERSIH rally is still a few days away...about three weeks away. And three weeks in politics is a long long time. For one thing Muhyiddin might be King by then! So for now and until that time when he comes up with his "EUREKA" moment we can expect Najib to stand around and do nothing while Persaka and UMNO youth -Ibrahim Ali and KJ- milk the situation for all it is worth and get as much political mileage as they can out of the situation demi kepentingan Negara, Bangsa dan Ugama!
