cakap cakap....Mahathir (English translation follows).
In English:
Kalau boleh
dikatakan Perdana Menteri yang tiada kekurangan peribadi hanyalah Hussein Onn.
Kita mungkin pernah dengar kekurangan Tunku. Mungkin juga Tun Razak. Tetapi
umum Tun Razak tiada bandingan. Ya, beliau memperjuangkan agenda Melayu. Ya,
Malaysia ingin
menganjurkan perlumbaan F1 Power Boat? Mahathir hanya perlu menelefon kroninya –
sumbangan untuk itu terus sahaja diperolehi. Langkawi? Atas tindakan
Kemudian satu
persatu timbul kisah yang lain. Mahathir memberikan MAS kepada Tajuddin yang
langsung tiada pengalaman menguruskan syarikat penerbangan. Bakun diserahkan
Hutang
piutang PLUS berlambak. Petronas menjamin keluar syarikat perkapalan anak
Mahathir dengan membayar RM1 bilion tunai! Kemudian satu billion lagi untuk
menjamin keluar Tajuddin daripada MAS.
Tapi bukankah
Mahathir mengarahkan semua Menteri memakai Perdana? Kita sendiri nampak
Mahathir memakai Perdana! Bukankah Malaysia berjaya menempuhi krisis kewangan
dunia dengan cemerlang? Bukankah kita sudah ada kereta kebangsaan sendiri? Lihatlah
mengakibatkan negara kerugian berbilion-bilion. KWSP, Petronas..semua institusi
disabitkan atas tuduhan menyalahgunakan kewangan negara. Saya pernah lihat
gambar Mahathir bersenang lenang atas kapal layar Ananda. Mahathir menunggang
kuda.
namun ia membuatkan sesetengah individu menjadi sangat kaya.
Apabila Mahathir
mengundur diri, perasaan lega sebahagian besar rakyat jelas kelihatan. Mahathir
kantung negara kita.
Semua
orang mengatakan tentang penswastaan Malaysia. Tidak, yang lebih tepat ialah
penswastaan Mahathir, sama sahaja seperti Mafia.
Huh! Cabaran
kita sekarang ialah belajar daripada kesilapan Mahathir. Ianya kesalahan
Mahathir tetapi kita masih perlu belajar daripadanya.
In English:
About the only Prime Minister that can be said to be without any personal blemish would have been Hussein Onn. We know Tunku weaknesses. We know Tun Tun Razak’s too. But these blemishes or weaknesses in their life affected only themselves … or possibly at most their immediate Family. I know that Tun Razak enjoyed …or needed would be the more appropriate term....needed a few drops of liqueurs and liquors every now and then to calm his nerves and take away the pain of his illness. There are many who are still around today who will testify to that. There were also other issues but Tun Razak public persona is impeachable. Yes he had a Malay agenda. Yes he had done what he thought necessary to achieve those objectives ….but Tunku, Tun Razak and Tun Hussein – these were leaders for whom greed, arrogance and overt deceit were matters to be avoided like the plague.
Then came Mahathir. What we saw of his public persona was one that exudes confidence and a take charge sort of a leader. Nobody crosses his path. Not even any of his deputies. Not even UMNO. He seem to be able to emerge from any crisis, any conflict any confrontation victorious. I watched as he went across the country drumming up support and momentum in his move to strip the Sultans of their seemingly invincible aura. He succeeded. His manuovering were crude but he succeeded. One by one he disposed of Musa and then Anwar with relish. Malaysia wanted to host the F1 Power Boat Race? He organized it with one phone calls to his cronies – and he came out with the money. Langkawi? He single handedly made Langkawi into what it is today –throw in LIMA as the icing on the cake. No problems. Putrajaya, KLIA, KLCC…..and the list goes on. Amazing stuff. What Mahathir wants he will make happen.
And then the stories started coming out. He give MAS to Tajuddin who have had no experience in running an airline. Bakun to Ting Pek Khing who also had no experience building dams. PLUS was having massive debts problems. Petronas bailed out his son’s shipping company to the tune of RM1 billion CASH! Then another billion to bail Tajuddin out of MAS.
But did’nt Mahathir insisted that all Ministers must use Perdana? We even see him in a Perdana! Did not Malaysia go through the Global Financial crisis with flying colors? Do we not have our own national car? Look at all the highways being built. ……..Yes but we did have to pay tolls on the never never. We did have Ops Lallang. We did have Perwaja. …and slowly the spin that Mahathir has put on his years of rule started to wear thin. Mahathir had many ideas but the problem is that most of them sucks!
Privatization given to his cronies consistently required bailouts that cost the country billions. EPF, Petronas…all the Government controlled financial institution were quietly bleeding money to ‘reimburse’ cronies given projects by Mahathir but who have failed to make them viable. We hear people talk not in terms of millions but billions…and yet no one was held accountable for these massive abuse of Public funds. I saw picture of Mahathir shirtless on Ananda’s yacht. Mahathir horse riding. Mahathir this and Mahathir that and that was when the doubt started. Business and Politics makes strange bedfellows but makes some men very rich.
When he left the sigh of relief from Malaysian was audible to everyone. He left confident that in Pak Lah he had somebody who would keep under wraps what had happened during his years in power. He was wrong. Now we know. We know that all that was done by Mahathir during his time in the name of progress’ development and Nation building was done with not much consideration for the needs of the people. There was no consideration for what the country will endure in the time to come to pay for these massive losses and failures that have been recklessly embarked upon by Mahathir. And suddenly we know we had a problem….and as always it is the rakyat that ultimately is left with the problem of paying for the bill.
Just imagine what could be done for the country with the massive billions that have already been used to bail out all the follies of Mahathir? We should have just given his children and his cronies a billion each and it would still be worth every penny spend to rid ourselves of these vultures and criminals that have bleed our country dry.
People talked about Malaysia incorporated. No it was more a Mahathir incorporated run on the same lines as the Mafia. If you are family you are a ok. …the only difference was even with the Mafia there was a limit to the amount of money they could lose…not with Mahathir. Not with Mahathir. Even the Mafia did not have access to the billions that Mahathir so generously gave to his cronies. …and he thinks he is the father of Development of Malaysia? Huh! Our challenge now is to learn from his mistakes. It was his mistakes not ours but we still have to learn from his mistakes. So that we will never allow within our midst a leader like him again.
You said you are grateful to someone for .... OK I saw it - Prime Minister of UMNO? (with bahasa translation by Gerila Rakyat).
ReplyDeleteI think it is very important that your writings goes to the deepest recess of the kampung, to every Malay. I think that the Bahasa Malaysia (or Melayu) deserves a post of its own, not as an afterthought to the English version.
I am in agreement with you here. The truth is that my Bahasa is very weak.I do what i can here at steadyaku47. i am trying to establish some kind of a network with those from the rural areas. until now I have not being able to do so effectively but I will keep trying. regards.
ReplyDeleteHH
Mahathir fight the corruption(money politic) by crying....so nothing was improved..except his crying skills.
ReplyDeleteBadawi fight corruption(money politic) by catching Isa Samad as the BIG Fish, to show that he meant business....but half way he fell asleep.
Najib fight corruption by giving second chance to corrupted politician who is popular(with money politic).....wonder if murderer will be giving second chance too.
HE HIMSELF...IS THE MURDERER
ReplyDeleteDevil was an angel too, and that is all about devil, nothing else, no big deal, he just changed once and he cannot change the second time into an angel. Human can do better than that, they can change from angel to devil and back to angel again. Mahathir is the finest example, he was so angelic when young and devilish when old, and now he is a hermit before he die an angel. All other Malaysian PMs are not shrewd as Mahathir to plan for a complete life cycle like a butterfly that ended up immortalised in a frame.
ReplyDeleteAnd of all PMs of Malaysia, we now have one who is not a changeling like his predecessors. He is not angelic nor devilish, but robotic. His battle cry is UMNO Tranformasi and he is leading all UMNO to become Transformers!
Haiyah bother, we also have to give TDM credit also ... can not hantam all the way only.
ReplyDeleteTDM has build the infrastructure for the country to facilitate trade and commerce.
TDM even initiate MSC for us to use the cyberspace to share thoughts and wisdom though we expect more. He gave the "Bills of Guarantee" that there'll be no censorship for the Internet that has caused headache for our present dear PM and cabinet ministers.
Oooops, he also created a monster called "Medusa" that also gave us hell. No one can look directly or be turn to stone, I mean police custody or ISA. The Medusa TDM created is just too powerful that no man can stand to protect the ordinary folks.
So, we have to continue to find ways get rid of this Medusa by chopping of the head and that we need a lot of men and women to it.
HH ... I'm just loosening sikit here.
IF...AND ONLY IF....!
ReplyDeleteIF THE MONIES WERE NOT SWINDLED BY THE MAMAK....AND HIS GANG OF SCOUNDRELS!
WE CAN HAVE MANY MANY MORE HOSPITALS...NOT OVER CORWDED ONE LIKE WE HAVE NOW.
FREE MEDICATION FOR ALL!
MANY MANY MORE SCHOOLS - WITH ONE SESSION ONLY!
WE NEED NOT PAY TOLL AS HIGH AS IT IS NOW
WE CAN HAVE BETTER INFRASTRUCTURE ALL OVER THE COUNTRY
WE COULD HAVE AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR ALL, AND WE NEED NOT HAVE SQUATTERS STILL
WE WILL NOT HAVE PEOPLE EATING SIPUT BABI AND KANG KONG LONGKANG IN THE KAMPUNGS - MALAYS MIND YOU!
WE WOULD HAVE A FIRST CLASS MILITARY! NOT BUYING IDIOTIC SECOND HAND BROKEN DOWN USELESS EQUIPMENT AT A MUCH HIGHER COST

nxforget,
ReplyDeleteu let loose? i let loose too, stiff neck lah looking at mahathir photo so humble before god, and those two guys behind him, one of them is looking direct into my eyes, the other is so watchful on mahathir. in 2020 who would believe a humble person in that photo was once a vicious CEO of malaysia?
Right on, Hussein! You're fast becoming a national resource. Now we have to get you a good translator so your incisive musings can reach all the Melayu who kena tipu by the Mahamamak.
ReplyDeleteYeah, you are right here, absolutely. Birds of the same feather, flock together, isn't it? Bloody politician. You too Hussein, if your are. Bloody! anybody...
ReplyDeleteAre you sure Tun Razak's only blemish and weakness was to down a stengah every now and then? What would a normal man do when he knows that he is dying and will drop dead anytime? Those that I know would want to be with all their loved ones while waiting for their last breadth, most likely at home or at least close to home. What did Tun Razak do? He went on some kind of holiday trip to Europe. Took in a few countries including one called Switzerland. I wonder why. My apologies for straying from your subject Mahathir but you referred to Tun Razak in your introduction.
ReplyDeletewot's the use. commenting about mahathir also no use.
ReplyDeletetrouble is, we had wrongly planned our infrastructure investment properly.
We now have too many power station in the peninsular, but not enough electricity in sabah.
prtoton has facilities to build a million cars, but can only sell about 250k cars a year.
putrajaya cost the government RM8/sq ft in rental monthly. The owner of Putrajaya is petronas.
There are many ports in peninsuar malaysia competeing with one another. One major port, linked to good highways should be the way.
KLIA is too far from KL and YTL and airport limousine services were given monopoly for the transportation.
Badawi was given a chance to reform, but he chose the same incompetent people in cabinet as Mahathir.
You can have a mirror malay website. bahasa s very easy to learn. Just watch Indonesian drama on astro. They speak malay the proper way. Malaysian speak rojak malay, thanks to Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka, the bahasa text book monopoly to all schools that was against english language transformation. They would rather see the rural malay brethren stuck in the mud than forgo their profits and bonuses.
Aisehman this Mahathir have got so many aliases...have to start a "50 ways to call Mahathir"...please submit your entries now to 'steadyaku47' - no prizes only the grateful thanks of our people.
ReplyDeleteTo comment is simple. to educate is difficult. to point fingers is the way to exclude guilt. what have you done all this while to overcome all your frustrations. most of us are ungrateful. from birth to now all is basically free. Free is good but other than that is wrong. you can blame the moon, the sun and everybody that you hate but when your eyes are blinded by hatred you lose you balance to weigh what is wrong and what is truly will get us to the end of the pool. let all think where anwar ibrahim , RPK , DAP , PKR and PAS leading us . not to a more heavenly place but to a place with more harted . is DAP PKR and PAS not to say about Anwar who is corrupted too. Talk is cheap but when you at the top you still do all those corrupt things . Ask anwar what is it like to gamble using Bank Negara's fund and then lose big or how to make money by buying 50000 acres of palm oil plantation for free ? know your stories and than decide what is wrong and what is right. Ask DAP Selangor how to take money first before giving the letter of award to contractors - 35% from the total sum ?

ReplyDeleteGeneral..Good point you make - but which is better? Crying skills or sleeping skills?
FMZ - Najib cannot change...no balls!
nxforget - cannot loosening ...not even a little bit...
Syed I am trying to work out something on the Bahasa side - if you can help let me know through my email -please.
To me Mahathir will always be or should I say "Dulu, Kini dan Selamanya" PM of Malaysia. Don't get me wrong, to me PM is NOT Prime Minister or Perdana Menteri BUT PEMBAWA MALAPETAKA OF MALAYSIA. And it seem Najib is fast becoming another Pembawa Malapetaka too. I don't think Malaysia can afford (literally afford) another PM. Malaysia is bankrupt as it is.... Heck, the govt don't even have the money to pay the civil service salary let alone talk big about 1World.
ReplyDeleteMahathir certainly a very good actor and PR man, managed to cover up and window dress all his misdeeds. You can expose all his misdeeds. But people will argue back with all his other 'contributions'.
ReplyDeleteOne thing for sure, we Malaysians needs to record down every extra ringgits spent over the past to build those white elephants. 1 ringgit project balloon to 3 ringgits that many people have overlooked and forgotten. KLIA might look good on surface but how much extra ringgit rakyat have to fork out? The mega airport looks so empty cp to Thailand or Spore airport. Putrajaya might look fancy but do we need to build those fancy white elephants to boost our civil servant competency and morale. Or to add to Mahathir's Book for Boasting?!
How many billions or trillion of ringgits the country lost due to cronies and white elephants? With actual cost and figure list down and give back to Mahathir before he says good bye to the nation. May be that will wake him up from his wet dream 2020.
Bobby
Bro HH,
ReplyDeleteI just got a little bit of shock when you said Tun Razak just took a bit of liqueurs and liquors and thats for his illness!
But when our country was still young and kita dalam keadaan maseh bodoh, dia dah tibai Gunung Genting atas nama Dato Noh, Pak Mentua dia, sewa pada LIM GOH TONG untuk buat Casino!!!
Berapa mewah keluarga Najib dengan sewa tanah Casino? Berkat!
Kalau tanah gunung pun dia dah tibai, apa lagi tanah tanah lain?
Check it out dengan Pejabat Tanah Bentong!

Happy blogging. You are doing a fantastic job. Thank you for keeping us informed of what's not reported by the media.
Best wishes!
If you think he was so bad, name me one person who could have done it better? You? BS.
ReplyDeletei NOT sure if he really deserves it !!??
ReplyDeleteLucky for us that Hussein Onn wasn't PM for a long time. otherwise, he could have been the worst PM ever with his reputation for being a very s-l-o-w decision maker. I think he owed his rise to premiership with Razak's help. Now, that's cronism of the highest order. it could have been repeated by KJ with Badawi's help. but Allah is great and stopped us from having KJ succeeding Abdullah Badawi as Pee Emm. Tun Razak was also reputed to have an eye for the ladies, and his consumption of "drinks" was not to reduce any pain, but rather it caused him a lot of pain as he grew older.
ReplyDeleteI hope you will not let your deep resentment of Mahathir cloud your analysis of the man. Sure. he was not perfect, but compared to the others, he was not worse than them.
It is karmatic that he is now back in the political limelight.
sri hartamas
On a personal level Mahathir did not drink nor did he have any interest in the ladies...that i will agree with you. On personal level only. Same as Pak Lah. I do not hate Mahathir - it is what he has done to our country that I dislike - it has cost us much financially and more damaging he brought the culture of "kebendaan" into the Malay consciouness...and of course into UMNO. The damage seems irreverseable ...unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteWhy not we try a new PM (not-Pembawa Malapetaka) from the opposition site, try it for 1 term and if not okay we vote something else. Complain and digging old stuff not good as what pepatah said nasi sudah jadi bubur..
ReplyDeleteTaking cue from Kamarul, I like that bubur part I don't mind at all if my nasi becomes bubur I can still eat the bubur with just kicap, or mix up with some bilis and lobak asin and telur masin and ikan masin and taucu goreng and bawang goreng and daun bawang. See how a bubur Prime Minister can give us a multi-ingredient simple food in one bowl?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous said....So much has been said of Mahathir. One of the worst crimes he committed during his 22 long years of autocratic premiership(or should I say dictatorship)is his total neglect for agriculture. He focused on heavy industries and industrialization.I ask you: Has he really succeeded?Look at our food imports-the annual bill and the food items imported from neighboring SEAsian countries.Believe me,with inclement world climate and the natural disasters made worse by the ballooning world population, and Malaysia's short food supply we will have to scrape the walls of KLCC and the other 'white elephant' infrastructure and eat them as food. Please ponder over this!!!
