PETALING JAYA - PAS Youth has voiced its disapproval of Selena Gomez's The Revival Tour concert scheduled to be held at Stadium Melawati in Shah Alam on July 25.
The wing's dakwah committee chairman Hafez Sabri claimed that the American singer's sexy appearance would tarnish the sanctity of the month of Syawal, which is when Muslims celebrate Hari Raya.
He also expressed regret that the local authorities had given approval to the concert's organisers to hold the event.
"The presence of the American-born singer, who is synonymous with sexy appearances, would tarnish the sanctity of the month of Syawal which is being celebrated in earnest and further stoke the hedonistic culture among the country's youths," he said in a statement on Monday.
Hafez called on the state Islamic religious council to issue an official letter prohibiting Gomez's concert.
He said the state government should have been more careful when approving the concert as there were entertainment guidelines issued by the Islamic Religious Department (Jakim) that needed to be followed.
"It is a priority and the responsibility of PAS Youth to ensure that there are no elements which can destroy the younger generation. Hence, we are committed to opposing such a concert," he added.
The 24-year-old Gomez is slated to perform at the Melawati indoor stadium on July 25 before heading to Singapore for another concert on July 27.

How will Selena will do all that? Is PAS inviting her to any open house in Kelantan during her time in Malaysia? Jangan lah invite dia. That way you dont have to see her "sexy apppearence"....no look, no see....so no way you are going to be tempted to think naughty thoughts about what you want to do with her.
Hafez are you so randy that you cannot control yourself anytime you see a skirt? Steady lah sikit brother....... pity your wife ma! Or is she wearing a veil all the time so that you do not get excited whenever you are around her in the house or when the two of you go riding on a Camel!
Here are some Comments on Hafez FB page about what he said of Selena Gomez:
Patricio Ephraim Carnivara Malaysia are include Sabah and Sarawak.
Dont tell us how to dress.
Proud to be Borneon, we are not Arabs

Dinesh Kumar Somasundram Tindakan Hafez ini memalukan. Pergilah tolong anak yatim atau buat perkara yang berguna. Tapi sebaliknya, kamu nak kacau anak dara orang.
Chrystal Diane Philip You have no blady rights to stop non Muslims from enjoying concerts. If you're so worried about the Muslims then work on putting a stop to the existing ones in Malaysia who are drinking alcohol and partying at Changkat all night long .. not Selena or any other foreign artists. STUPID.
Saya steady aja.....maklum lah dah 69 tahun. Selena Gomez or no Selena Gomez....always steady. Perangai budak PAS ni semua macham Pak Arab. Di negri mereka pijak semut tak mati........sampai ka London liar macham a baboon on heat!
