Cat found wrapped in duct tape in US
A cat has been wrapped in industrial duct tape "like a mummy" in a shocking case of animal cruelty in the US city of Philadelphia.
Only the head of the female adult cat was uncovered.
A $US1,000 reward has been offered for the conviction of whoever wrapped the cat and dumped her in a North Philadelphia yard, The Philadelphia Inquirer newspaper reports.
"Whoever did this is very sick," said George Bengal, director investigations for the Pennsylvania Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (PSPCA) said.
"I've never seen a cat totally wrapped like a mummy before.
The cat - nicknamed Sticky by workers at the PSPCA - was sedated so that the tape could be cut away with scissors and saved as evidence.
The cat is reportedly doing well. "We're lucky that the tape was not on the cat for a long time. It came off easily," PSPCA spokeswoman Gail Luciani said.
