“Honour and dignity cannot be bought even if people promise all sorts of things. Respect accorded to us by the people cannot be bought; that is why we must have principles in our struggle, we must safeguard our honour,” Najib Tun Razak said this when addressing a get-together of government retirees at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC).
Najib said Saiful had been to his office to meet one of his officers regarding a scholarship application but he (Najib) had not met Saiful then. When asked why, Saiful, a former aide to Anwar had come to him regarding the matter, Najib said that he did not know, but assumed that the youth needed his help after he had said that he knew one of his officers.
