Dear Mr.Hussein....

Dear Mr.Hussein,

I think the names of the young offenders who started the fire should never be released by the police or any component of the electronic or print media.

Drugs are not the only problem, they are one of the symptoms. This is a culmination and accumulation of Federal Govt neglect.

I am speechless-our children are in possession of such criminality of hate.

Incurable Sicknesses - only God's instruments or intervention can save them.

Perhaps jail term is the kindest mercy that society can accord them to secure an introspective realisation on the enormity and magnitude of their terrible deed.

No matter how vile or horrible the crime, they should never publish the pictures of the offenders on the account that

-Their parents, siblings, relatives and friends who essentially would be castigated, cursed and hounded. Each would be the untouchable leper. The young offenders too are victims. We have taken everything away from them. Previously you will find such young children playing in the fields, sitting and strumming a guitar and generally having a good time. Where is this for them?

-Retributive justice will cancel the possibility of restorative justice that offers the positives of redemption and mercy for the perpetrators of this unspeakable crime .

The best in humanity must always seek to reform and rejuvenate the worst of humanity.

Let us hope the names or photos of the young offenders are held in confidence.

Parental negligence and delinquency with drugs  would be the obvious identifiable common convenient culprits that would be fingerprinted and assigned responsibility. None would look at:

Governance without law, order, responsibility or accountability.

Education without morality

Religion expressed without conviction of equality and compassion

Inflated cost that force two parents to work.

Inadequate housing.

Parks and recreation for positive and formative energy of young.

Racial , religious and social integration.

This is a commission of crime - not just from the young. The institutional structures are all complicit.

Please let our fellow writers know that the young ones are not killers- but the policies have provided this unmentionable tragedy.
I am sad for the one who perished, but even more for the offenders, as they have years of hell ahead of them.

Kind Thoughts,
Dr.Dominic Damian
