THE ROYAL MALAY REGIMENT
We were conceived and born during a period of great uncertainty
When freedom was just a dream and servitude a humiliating reality
When foreigners came freely to mine our land, to clear our forests
When pale invaders dictated terms; decided what was best for us
Why we were created we may perhaps never ever know for certain
But whatever their motivations we were glad for our own reasons
To give our all, ready and willing to defend this great motherland
Every one of us proudly serving, committed as one to the last man
We were constantly conscious of our cause and what we stood for
Of the sacrifice demanded of us, the trust we bear, and much more
The trust remaining right to this day at the very heart of our being
Our answering this call and proudly doing our part, fully knowing
We knew that whatever might happen, and wherever we might be
We shall always be a bastion for the well-being of this Ibu Pertiwi
Honouring our sacred oath that had always kept us together bound
The spirit of a common cause we shared as one and rallied around
We had seen plenty, contributed greatly, and served magnificently
We had been true to our cause throughout our long proud history
No matter what will be, what might become of our remaining days
We shall stay forever committed and true to our sacred oath always.
