You are one. With me we are TWO.

YOU ARE ONE. WITH ME WE ARE TWO
When I write about the abuses of UMNO against the Malays, against the Country  - I know that there are interesting stories that I tell. Some you might have heard them before, some you will not have known of the details as I tell them and some you might have not known of if I had not highlighted them in my postings. Some of you have made the effort to comment and discuss what has been said  - but a disturbing number of comments seem to indicate a feeling of hopelessness – that there is nothing we can do to stop the rot! You ask me what do I expect to achieve by what I write? The might of Barisan will not be disturbed by what we do.

Let me tell you that you are wrong. Who would have thought that Samy Velu would lose in Sugai Siput? That Sharizat will lose to a greenhorn in Bangsar? That Barisan will lose Kedah, Perak, Penang and SELANGOR! If you have told me that before the General elections I would have looked at you with undisguised contempt and hilarity. Barisan had everything going for them. Money, the EC, all the Government machineries at their disposal – everything stacked in their favour.

What made the difference? The people’s vote. One by one your votes slowly but surely kicked Samy Velu out. Even Sharizat – a hard working MP for Bangsar was blind-sided by Nurul. Can you remember what Sharizat organized in Bagsar? Her election machinery was so slick – had so much money – that it was like Christmas, Chinese New Year, Deepavali and Hari Raya all rolled up into one. And she lost!

Think my friends. We can make the difference! One by one as you vote you will slowly but surely put Barisan Nasional out. But it will not happen by itself. We must work towards it day by day. One by one. Build up our strength and our numbers until we achieve the critical mass for success.

UMNO does not think that we have achieved this. Nor do they think we can achieve it. That is why they chose a disbar lawyer to represent them in the last by-election. Now they have decided on Isa. You and I know who Isa is.  A convicted practitioner of money politics. Yet UMNO will have him represent them. The arrogance of UMNO in doing so is because we are not able to shoe them our dislike, our disgust and our contempt to them for choosing a convicted practitioner of money politics.

They say Isa have served his time and KJ is so bold as to say that Pakatan Rakyat too have tainted leaders. Yes we do – they are ALL tainted in your estimation because they have all, without exception, done time under ISA. To us spending time under ISA is a badge of courage and commitment to our cause – one of justice and decency. So do not say that again. Do not mistake the sordid act of using money for all things as UMNO does to that of being incarcerated for your beliefs. Any right-minded individual can see the flaw in that argument.

UMNO still does not doubt its ability to cling to power – and the operative word here is ‘cling’. To UMNO the ends justify the means. If not the election processes what else will they conjure to cling to power? There is no one within UMNO now of the calibre of Tun Razak or Tun Ismail – these two were aware of the power they hold in their hands at one time in our history – and yet they are more aware of the need to put country before self. They never took advantage of their position to enrich themselves or their families and I am sure there was no thought in any of their mind that their being in power would give their children the “right” to hold power themselves. But all this escapes Najib. Escapes Hishamuddin and they do a disservice to their Father’s legacies.

But we together can make a difference. So please those amongst us that doubt the power of one – themself – think again.

The power of ONE
A Japanese proverb states: "The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of one hour." The actions of just one person have even changed the course of a nation. Edward Everett Hale wrote:

I am only one.
But still I am one.
I cannot do everything,
But still I can do something;
And because I cannot do everything
I will not refuse to do the something that I can do.

Centuries later, one person made a decision that had a detrimental effect. In 1923, by one vote, Adolph Hitler gained control of the Nazi Party.

In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.

In 1776, one vote gave America the English language rather than German.

In 1845, one vote brought the state of Texas into the United States.

In 1941, one vote preserved the Selective Service System just 12 weeks before Pearl Harbor was attacked.

So you are one but you and me – we make two.

YOU ARE ONE. WITH ME WE ARE TWO
ANDA SENDIRI. BERSAMAKU KITA JADI BERDUA

Itupun dia masih kalah!

Fikirkan rakan sekalian. Kita boleh memberi perubahan! Satu demi satu sokongan anda akan menumbangkan Barisan Nasional. Tetapi ia tak akan berlaku dengan sendiri. Kita harus berusaha dari hari ke hari. Setapak demi setapak.

Sekarang pula mereka mencalonkan Isa. Kita dah tahu siapa Isa ini. Ditangkap kerana mengamalkan politik wang. Tapi UMNO masih nak memilih Isa.

Kuasa satu
Pepatah Jepun ada menyatakan: “Reputasi seribu tahun mungkin akibat perbuatan selama satu jam.” Keputusan seorang mungkin merubah hala tuju sesuatu bangsa. Edward Everett Hale menulis:

Aku sendiri.
Tapi masih sendiri.

Jadi anda hanya sendiri tetapi bersama saya – kita jadi berdua.

  3. Sir,

It is so true that each and every vote counts. What we need is to spread Political Awareness amongst the younger generation and get them to register as voters.

The more younger generation vote, the closer we get to our dreams.

  6. Sir, we was under a spell for some fifty one years and on March 8, 2008 we broke that spell. From that moment henceforth we shall change the course of this beloved country of ours Malaysia for the better.

That One Vote does matter as can be seen on March 8, 2008. It does changed the political scenario of the country. It look like we all did a great job, just because we love this country more then we love any political party.

    Have a nice day.

  7. To Bagan Pinang voters,

The choice is yours. If you hold your dignity dear show Isa Samad the way out. Tell him that corruption is a crime and it's evil.

If you lack will power to send the message then you're with him...you are corrupt too.
Once again the choice is yours. You're smart and should be one. Send him the message and clear your conscience. Tell him that you despise is corrupt act.

You can do it. Do it at the ballot.

  8. samsaimon...like what they are saying to that Hindraf guy in London...come back no problem - no arrest warrant. Once dia sampai kat KLIA tak sempat dia pijak tanah tumpag darah nya - habislah kawan tu! So you make sure UMNO is out - then I am in! Camna?

  12. MUST TELL ALL THIS TO THE ARMY WALLAS INSIDE THE CAMPS, VOTE FOR ISA MEANS YOU ARE A COWARD... A REAL: "TIDAK ADA TELUR PUNYA MANUSIA!"

MAKE THEM ANGRY AND CALL THEM NAMES, SO THAT THEY WILL COME TO THEIR SENSES AND VOTE FOR THE RIGHT
AND NOT THE WRONG REASONS AND NOT THE WRONG PARTY AND THE WRONG PERSON!

SO WE MUST ALL GET OUR ACTS TOGETHER AND SEND UMNO TO HELL...

FOR 50 ODD YEARS THEY DO NOTHING BUT CHEAT AND LIE TO THE CITIZENS AND THEY USE THE "ISA" TO CULL US ALL!

WE SHALL SEE HOW LONG MORE THEY CAN CHEAT AND LIE - THEY EVENTUALLY WILL ALL DIE, SLOWLY AND SURELY JUST LIKE THEIR FATHERS...NAJIS AND HISAB-MUDIN!

BOTH OF YOU WILL DIE A SLOW DEATH, WE SHALL GIVE YOU ENOUGH TIME TO REPENT..!

  13. Yes Sir. Not only Samy Vellu and Sharizat. Who would have thought the Lingam cameraman - Loh Hwa Burne would win against an MCA Datuk in Kelana Jaya? Then the hindraf guy won while under ISA. Then the independent candidate defeated BN at Bt Selambau. BN never loose to an unknown independent candidate before!. But they lost!

Oh yes, not forgetting your nostalgic Kuantan parliament seat, the PR lady defeated a BN stalwart!

But, like you said, it is merry go round as far as UMNO is concern. Also it is business as usual for them. They say Pak sleeps on the job. But I say the whole UMNO leadership is still sleeping.

What choice do we have? The answer is obvious.

  15. Hi all,

I and my whole family will definitely continue to vote PR come next GE....like we did 20+ years ago. We are so fed up with the blatant open mismanagement/corruption of public funds which directly negatively affected out lifes..for the worse that is. Because of these leakages of public fund, we Malaysians are forced to pay higher petrol, pay higher toll and high cost of living. Vote out BN for a better Malaysia.

  16. Dear Hussein Sir,
When my daughter comes back this weekend, I'll have to remind her to register as a voter. I know my eldest already voted in the last GE. Thanks for the interesting article. Have a great weekend ahead!!!

  17. At the GE10 in 1999, the voters were divided as chinese saw the "anwar-mahathir" fight was an "Umno internal struggle".Only the Malays voted fiercely against BN/Umno. As a result, the BN's win was the lowest since 1969. A small wave was generated~~~~

At the GE11 in 2008, everybody voted Badawi(not BN) because the Malaysian were happy to see monster M had gone. Badawi scored a big win since 1978....the wave subsided.

Before GE12, the BN was proud and confidence.Khir Toyo predicted a zero opposition in Selangor in the next GE. The "keris shows" was becoming more and more popular at each Umno assembly and Badawi just sat back and smile while enjoying the show....Indian was angered by the way BN handling the Hindraf issue....furthermore,Badawi don't had the political to "reform"....a wave started again~~~quietlty

At GE12 in 2008, Badawi and BN experienced a destructive loss by a tsunami everseen in Malaysian history...

At GE13 to come, you and me...make two. But with all of you and others....we can make a hurricane to bring BN down once in for all...

Can't wait the day to come any longer....

    ReplyDelete
  18. We must give BN a deadly punch by winning vast majority, otherwise BN will use the police ,law and judge to cling on to power and won't let go.

We need more than just you and me........we need an army of voters, young and old.....to charge, forward....to register and vote

    Starts telling friends,relative,colleque,...now ..........charge,....forwad...

    ReplyDelete
  19. Par excellence article!

Very true, you, me and him/her will make three.....that's how the voters' tsunami started and it's still gathering pace.

Never give up hope because if you do, the younger generation will suffer as corruption will siphon the wealth of the nation meant for the people and not for a selected hypocritical filthy rich few.

Hope will bring on another major tsunami at GE13.

  20. Yes ... we, the fair-minded people must take back the country from the corrupt elite and it's tentacles and put it back on the right track.

Some did their part by writings, some do the talk over a cuppa, some are very vocal, while others are daring enough even if have to go the homestead in Kamunting. Collectively, we can make that changes.

Even it does not happen in our lifetime, we sow the seed to make this country to be a better place to live.

Thank you for this inspirational piece.

  21. This writer makes a lot of senses and logic. Don`t let us just talk but we must now act. A million Ringgit comes from a 1 sens coins. That is how we must do and come together to build up the multitude. Long live to all of us.

  23. I tabib U, Sir! I suggest this article be reposted everywhere via internet or MSM whenever there is a election/by election in the country that we love so dearly. Having stayed oversesas for 8 years now, we still cant cut the umbilical cord, and we miss coming back so much, but seeing the state of affairs as it is, it is such a sorrowful sight. Wages are on hold, but cost of everyday stuff has gone up so mightily! Sad la!
