KUALA LUMPUR: Policemen in last Wednesday's anti-vice raid at an entertainment outlet in Pulau Tikus, Penang, have been reassigned to desk duties with immediate effect pending an internal investigation.

This followed complaints that the women caught in the raid had their bodies marked with the letter "X".

Federal CID anti-vice, gaming and secret society principal assistant director Senior Assistant Commissioner Abdul Jalil Hassan said they viewed the issue very seriously and had begun an internal probe.

"This practice, although isolated, is not part of our standard operating procedure.
"We do not adopt such a practice as we do not want to embarrass suspects who are innocent until proven otherwise.

"A thorough investigation has been ordered by Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ismail Omar and if those involved in the raid are found guilty of misconduct, disciplinary measures will be taken against them."

  1. [24:33] Those who cannot afford to get married shall maintain morality until GOD provides for them from His grace. Those among your servants who wish to be freed in order to marry, you shall grant them their wish, once you realize that they are honest. And give them from GOD's money that He has bestowed upon you. YOU SHALL NOT FORCE YOUR GIRLS TO COMMIT PROSTITUTION, SEEKING THE MATERIALS OF THIS WORLD, IF THEY WISH TO BE CHASTE. IF ANYONE FORCES THEM, THEN GOD, SEEING THAT THEY ARE FORCED, IS FORGIVER, MERCIFUL.

If GOD, seeing that the girls are forced to commit prostitution, can have mercy and forgive them, then how arrogant indeed are we (the fortunate ones – not born into poverty) to condemned all of them indiscriminately like cattle or Nazi/zaman jepun death row.

Now, we want to know statistically from so many similar raids before, how many of the girls are actually being forced? Who is administering this? And what actions/program have/will be taken to rehabilitate them. Are the programs successful?
