Kassim S.A. : Umno/Najib to make acting deputy president post valid...or invalid?

Bernama reported last Tuesday that, according to high-ranking Umno member Adnan Mansor, the proposal to amend the Umno constitution by inserting a new clause regarding the acting deputy president’s post was valid.

Adnan was referring to the recommendation made by Najib's deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and hoped that no one misjudged or misunderstood it.

After reading it for the fifth time, I certainly do not want to be misjudged or misunderstood and neither do I want to be Miss Malaysia, but I am a little cuntfused.

Under principles and practices of management, the post of a deputy or an assistant is a position that is included in the organisation of an entity. An organisation with clearly defined goals will of course have for each post a description of the authority & responsibility (which to Umno means the power) that come with the post.

When an incumbent is scheduled to be away from work (like when he was heading for London for a working holiday in 1998), he will seek the approval of his superior (which in this case was himself) to delegate his authority to someone (which in this case was his deputy) to carry out his functions during his absence. The person to whom the authority is delegated will be acting on behalf of the incumbent. The superior, in approving the delegation, will decide on the time frame and extent of authority to be delegated. Beyond the time frame, the delegation ceases.

So, with this brilliant proposal and recommendation (which will make Peter Drucker turn in his grave) from these Umno "managers", how will Umno describe the post of an acting deputy president? Better still, why does Umno need an acting deputy president?

Unless the present deputy president is not acting in accordance with the expectations of the president......?

cakap cakap Kassim S.A. : Translating the Koran to Mandarin?

Did you notice that Malaysia is on a mega sale?

Everything is up on offer, mainly land in what used to be known as Persekutuan Tanah Melayu. And China is buying up whatever is available. It is outbidding everybody else, including Malaysian GLCs, for the mega projects.

In exchange, China is offering its weapons and protection to Malaysia.

Of course, this megasale to China is done in the spirit of "You hep me, I hep you" which the Chinese in Sarawak are very familiar with, much to the dismay of the US.

The Americans may not like it, but the long arm of their law will be incapacitated in its attempt to reach out and grab a Malaysian sought by the US Justice Dept. No, not because the Malaysian has diplomatic immunity, but because hudud will shorten the arm.

Already some Malaysians who are offended at being referred to as pendatang are proudly referring to themselves now as Overseas Chinese.

It would be a step in the right direction for Kelantan and Terengganu to encourage their mullahs to master Mandarin in view of the anticipated influx. Perhaps even converting the sekolah pondok to teach in Mandarin, including translating the Koran to Mandarin?

Hopefully, the Chinese investors will be reminded about the limitations of their investments.

No doubt it would amount to a reverse takeover, but China buying the Istana is not the same as the govt buying the "Big House" from Chan Wing in 1957 and now using it as the Royal Museum.

Some things are just not for sale. Like our sovereignty and dignity........

Quickies....

Kassim S.A.

As was pointed out in 1998:

In UK, the Queen remains in her position and they change the PM every 5 years.

In Malaysia, the PM remains in his position and the Agong changes every 5 years.

Quickies : Muhyiddin remember 1998?

  • Muhyiddin, where were you back in 1998 when you and other members of the Supreme Council - under Mahathir's instructions - did to Anwar what they are now doing to you under Najib's instructions?

You should have been mindful of what Anwar said then: "If he can do it to me, imagine what he can do to you". But back then you, like everyone else in Umno, were too incensed with power and greed to care about the presence of God around you.

From various departure halls, our soul will arrive at the same destination to answer questions from the immigration and customs officials whom you will not be able to "influence".
