cakap cakap...Najib lagi!

11th June Saturday
KUALA LUMPUR, June 10 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim deliberately mismanaged the economy as finance minister during the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and 1998 in order to hasten Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s exit, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today.
The prime minister told residents at a Selangor suburb that Anwar, who was also the then deputy prime minister, raised interest rates and cut public allocations in an attempt to force then-prime minister Dr Mahathir out of government and take his place.
“I was in Cabinet, I know the story,” Najib (picture) told Lembah AU5D residents here during a walkabout today.
“He raised interest rates by 20 per cent and cut (public) allocations to ruin the economy all because he wanted to be prime minister, because he wanted to push Dr Mahathir out,” he added.
Anwar’s PKR party and two allies, DAP and PAS, won Selangor from the Barisan Nasional (BN) in Election 2008 but Najib, who is Umno president and heads the party’s Selangor chapter, is working the ground to win the country’s wealthiest state in the next general elections.
Taking another dig at Anwar’s time in government, Najib pointed out it was useless to talk big but not live up to one’s promises when in power.
He added that Anwar’s alleged failure to manage the economy then meant that voters now should not trust claims by Pakatan Rakyat (PR) that it can keep the price of fuel low if it wins federal power.
The billions of ringgit needed to maintain fuel subsidies in the face of rising global crude oil prices would have to come from allocations meant for public goods, he said.
“With the price of oil going up, if you put PR in power that will happen.”
“Economic experts won’t do that. They won’t use funds for schools, roads and mosques for fuel,” said Najib, who is also Finance Minister.

At last we are getting to the nuts and bolts –the nitty gritty –the things that really matter. First let us look at what has been done by Najib to Pakatan Rakyat since he became PM.
Even as he became PM, Najib came to the job triumphantly claiming that he brought....err that should have been BOUGHT .....Perak state back into Barisan Nasional fold. Let us not go into the jumping of frogs from here to there and from there to here. Forget about what the voters decided at the 12th general election. And let us not speculate about what changed hands between the Royal House of Perak and the generous-when-you scratch-my-back Barisan Nasional. Suffice to say Najib did what he had to do to BOUGHT Perak for Barisan Nasional.

Najib had set the standards for what Barisan Nasional will do to get Pakatan Rakyat’s MP onto their leaky boat. But as Chubby Checker said when he did the Limbo “How low can you go?” Lower...much lower.

For a while it looked like being a PKR MP was the way to go when your final destination is really wealth – wealth that comes not from PKR but from BN when the MP are not too bothered about integrity and loyalty to the voters that voted them in. You must have wondered how these elected representatives of PKR could have so easily jumped into BN waiting grasp. Greed has no other loyalty then the ability of the giver to give what is asked and beg for. So for a while we had the spectacle of PKR MP’s making hay while the sun shined – and if BN was there to give them the hay...they will go to BN.
But still Pakatan Rakyat thrived.

Khalid had his mantle tested in Selangor with the State Secretary shuffle – but that shuffle was no way close to the Ali shuffle and did nothing to throw Khalid off balance. And anyway in Selangor nothing could have taken the attention away from that Tempeh Man – Khir Toyo was bigger than Ben Hur –and the bigger they are, the harder they fall...and there is nothing that UMNO can do to prevent themselves falling into the abyss with Khir Toyo as he himself is sucked into the vortex of his own greed!

Najib tried everything against PKR. MACC did his bidding in going after Pakatan Rakyat for anything they could find against anybody in the opposition and all that any one in Malaysia will remember of MACC is Teoh Beng Hock ....and the utter stupidity of the DPP displayed for the world to see when he did his “thing” in court! Who could forget his insistence that Teoh Beng Hock “strangled himself” complete with a graphic depiction of the act!
PDRM was despatch against any Pakatan Rakyat  initiatives – be it political, against the ISA or any demonstration against the abusive treatment of the Rakyat by anybody – PDRM did not need any bidding to wade in and whack our people with gusto and relish.

Then in desperation Najib cooks up Sodomy Two. Then the Carcosa tapes and even the threatened deregistration of Pakatan Rakyat....all for nothing! DSAI and Pakatan Rakyat are still standing tall and ready for the 13th general election.
And now after all that he comes up with:

“Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim deliberately mismanaged the economy as finance minister during the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and 1998 in order to hasten Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s exit, Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today”.

That is the way to go Najib! Extreme physical pain inflicted on his own people did not work, The ISA did not work, giving out money did not work, promises of great wealth did not work, enticing PAS to walk with UMNO towards the promised land did not work...even sex and pornographic videos did not work. So now he goes into what we wanted him to do right from the start.
We wanted BN and PR to go head to head on what they can best do for the people! We wanted to find out for ourselves who is the better leader – Najib or DSAI! Having exhausted all other means –Najib now gets to the specifics.
What DSAI did when he was Deputy Prime Minister? Najib claims that:

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim deliberately mismanaged the economy as finance minister during the Asian financial crisis in 1997 and 1998 in order to hasten Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s exit.

Aisehman Najib betul ka ni? If I remember correctly “raising interest rates and cutting public allocations” is the sensible way to go during the GFC (global financial crisis lah!) Are you not trying to do the same thing now even if the GFC is a long time ago –you are cutting subsidies (rationalising them sounds better) and asking all government machineries to “rationalise” too! The only problem is that you have already wasted billions of our Ringgits when you were Minister of Defence. Remember the RM$500 million for your crony Razak son if Baginda? And where did those Jet Engines go? As DSAI succinctly puts it: Kapal terbang tak boleh terbang. Kapal selam tak boleh selam!) I dare say that if you were to stand toe to toe with DSAI on stage and debate financial matters – you know things like the GFC, GNP, GDP etc etc- you are going to be doing what you did in Sibu after you offered the voters RM5 million to vote BN –you were wiping your sweat and your spit off your face like as if there was no tomorrow!

You are a light weight Najib – in national politics, in our national consciousness and in your own UMNO. You are President of UMNO because Muhyiddin allows you to be President. When Muhyiddin tires of playing second fiddle to you and Rosmah you are dead meat...same as dead man walking! Where else will you go Najib?

Kalau Rosmah memakai Sari
Jangan jalan di tepi hutan.
Orang belajar ka luar negri
Kenapa Najib ka Tanjung Rambutan?

You credentials on things financials are highly suspect. What you did in MINDEF does not give us much confidence in your ability to ensure that your budgeting of all things in MINDEF were within projection. Maybe nobody told you that you never budget for a deficit. We are certainly not going to allow you to do that to our nation. Go fight your battles with Rosmah, with the Kataks that will continue to call you Datuk Seri just as long as you keep giving or with Saiful. These people are dependent on you for a life. The people are not! And don’t you forget that!

And one last thing....yes you were in Cabinet during the time that DSAI was DPM – but as Mahathir said of Nazri Aziz: “kita kata “Boooo” aja did dah lari”....during those days that you were in cabinet the Malays would have said of you “macham kanak kanak masih berhingus”...still wet behind the ears...or more apt “belum bersunat!” (not circumcised yet). We thought then that you were riding on the coat tails of your later Father –Tun Razak. We still do think that now...only now it is no longer funny because you are playing at being Prime Minister....and the costs to us all are too great to allow you go on any longer!
I suggest you take stock of your situation. Leave DSAI well alone. Leave Pakatan Rakyat well alone. Your enemy is not them. Look behind you and look within your UMNO
Beware the ides of March
Caesar:
Who is it in the press that calls on me?
I hear a tongue shriller than all the music
Cry "Caesar!" Speak, Caesar is turn'd to hear.
Soothsayer:
Beware the ides of March.
Caesar:
What man is that?
Brutus:
A soothsayer bids you beware the ides of March.
