I am posting "Aku Melayu. Engkau siapa Hussein?" in the interest of giving voice to the writer of the article to put forward his/her point of view. Read, think and make up your own mind as to the validity and relevance of his/her views. Make your comments if you must but do so with the understanding that we are all entitled to our point of view no matter how bigoted, stupid, ignorant or skewered they may be! Such is life.

Aku Melayu. Engkau Siapa Hussein?

Ssein aku fikir engkau mesti fikir apa yang engkau tulis di blog steadyaku47. Engkau ni Melayu! Bapak Melayu! Emak Melayu! Tapi engkau kahwin Mat Salleh! And now you are consider yourself to be an enlighten Malay? Where does it say that just because you marry a foreigner you now have the right to discount the fact that you are Malay? Engkau siapa sein?

Do you realize that we Malays are now losing our country? Tanah air kita sendiri sekarang penuh dengal kafir dan bangsa2 lain. From where do these people come from? They were brought in by the Mat Salleh from India and China to serve the purpose of the British Empire - our colonial masters. Not for the purpose of our Tanah Air or the Malays but to serve the purpose of the British in exploiting our tin and our rubber. And now that the British are long gone and these resources are now depleted, why do we need them to be around anymore?

If you tell me that the Chinese and the Indians have significantly contributed to the development of our country into what it is today then tell me, what have we become today? Apa dah jadi kepada negri kita sekarang????

Penuh dengan geraja dan kuil. We have corruption, racial and religious conflicts that gets more intense by the day. And do not tell me that this is all because of UMNO and their ways. We are all complicit in allowing this to happen. More so the Chinese with their greed for money and material rewards. Compared to the Chinese we Malays are novices tapi kita Melayu memang Pak Turut!

These non-Malays infidels have been paid well for the work they do and have profited from their time in Malaysia at the expense of the Malays who are now reduced to trying to earn a living secara halal and finding a roof over their head in our own country! Sedihnya aku! And how will it all end?

It will end like it did in 1969 when the Malays had enough of the Chinese parading around town claiming to have taught the Malays a lesson just because they won some seats in the general elections. They did not teach us a lesson. The Malays taught everyone else a lesson. And this is the change we Malays want in this 13th general election!
 
You as a Malay shame and anger us by your insistence that our Tanah Air now belongs to everybody that calls it home. Yet you complain when UMNO gives the Pendatangs citizenship? These Pendatangs too want to call Malaysia home? Ssein do not practice double standards. At least these pendatangs are Muslims.

You do this all the time. You are against Ketuanan Melayu and yet you are silent at those Chinese who have been discriminating against the Malays in business and work situation from the time they first came into our country.

You tell us that you were in business before. Were you able to get any help from the Chinese in business without having to pay the Chinese off by sharing your profits with them? Do you not know that the price they quote for Malays are higher then what they quote for their own race?

Why are there no Malays in the hardware business? In the spare parts business? And if there were they are surely at the mercy of the Chinese suppliers. It is only because of UMNO that we have Malays now selling fish, Malays with grocery shops and Malays selling rice, petrol, cars and now everything the Chinese sell, the Malays too can now sell. The Banks, the Insurance Companies..sekarang semua di tangan orang Melayu!  Aku tak peduli orang Melayu UMNO atau bukan UMNO yang mustahak orang ini orang kita! Kita terhutang budi kepada UMNO! 

It is only because of Ketuanan Melayu and the privileges UMNO has reserved for the Bumiputra that we Malays are able to survive in our own country and we are able to buy decent houses and have our children educated.

Ssein how would you feel if some one comes into your home and take over your family and leave nothing for you and then starts to turn your own family against you? This is what the Chinese have done to the Malays. Without asking for our permission the British have allowed these people to come into our country. Now not only are they in our country but they want to take away from us all that we hold dear in our way of life and now even our political control over our own country. They are now turning the Malays against the Malays! You are a good example of one! Jangan percaya sangat dengan cara2 DAP dan janji janji mereka! Wahai saudara saudara yang memelih DAP untuk meneruskan perjuangan politics anda - fikir betul2. Adakah DAP memperjuangkan kepentingan orang Cina atau orang Melayu? Tepuk dada tanya diri sendiri!

We cannot allow this to happen. We must not allow this to happen. And as a Malay you cannot sit idly by and let it happen. When you write in your blog that this is the way things should be, then as a Malay get angry.

Ssein engkau dah lupaka engkau ni Melayu. There are still many Malays in the kampongs and even in the urban area who are still living in poverty. Are you prepared to leave them in poverty if UMNO is no longer in power? Who will take care of the rural Malays and the Malays who have been deprived of many opportunities because they have been discriminated against by the other races when they want to try to earn a decent living?

You must realise Hussein that it is not only the non-Malays who face discrimination in this country. Look around you and try and see if there are as many well off Malays as there are well off non-Malays? If it was not for UMNO we will all still be in the kampongs planting rice, tapping rubber trees and tending oil palms. You must realize that it is only because of UMNO that we Malays are now Bankers, Professionals and have businesses that rivals if not better, the non-Malays. If it was not because of UMNO you would not have been able to go overseas to study and marry - only now to come back to bite the hand that once fed you! You ungrateful Malay!

Insaf Husssein! Our battle is not with each other - it is against those people that have taken over our country, our language, and our life and now threaten to do the same with our country. Only UMNO stands in their way and that is why we must support UMNO. Without UMNO the Malays will no longer have a place in our own country. Without UMNO you will certainly not have a country to come back to - that is if you want to come back to your own country.

I am not a racist. I am not anti non-Malays. Neither am I a supporter of UMNO or any political party. But I am Malay first and last. Hussein I suggest you think again about what you are doing to the Malays that still call Malaysia their Tanah Air by what you write in your blog. We have nowhere to go but here. We have no other language to call our own but Bahasa.

For those of you that can and want to live elsewhere then do so - but leave the Malays to live in peace in their own Tanah Air. We Malays do not go to live in India or China  - and even if we do we are aware that it is not our country and will behave accordingly. Why can't the Chinese and Indians understand that we Malays feel the same way about their position here in our country?

So please Saudara  - firkir! This is my country. I live and die in this country and if anyone tells me otherwise then I will defend my right to have this country mine against anyone that tells me otherwise. You as a Malay can always come back to live here because this is also your Tanah Air - but first there must be a place for you to come back to. Insaf  saudara - insaf!

Free and fair elections? Maybe not! Unpredictable? Yes! Jom mengundi! Abu!

I was recently talking to a friend about the plights of the Indians in Malaysia. About how MIC has still a long way to go if it was to secure the trust of, and work towards, the well being of the Indians. All this at a time when the importance of the Indian votes to BN is underscored by the fact that the Prime Minister is persuaded to attend the launching of a Hair Salon belonging to an Indian because it will be good for BN if he did so!

It is now certain that the silent Indian votes were crucial in the swing against BN in the 2008 elections. It will again be crucial for BN and PR at this 13th GE.

When everyone has been talking about the coming 13th general election he was not. He was talking about the 14th general election.  He said that the anti-establishment sentiments amongst so many Malaysians will make this 13th general election too close to call –and whoever comes into government will need to consolidate and put into place what has been demanded by the people.  There is simply too much to do within MIC and there is not enough time to do it before the 13th general election. Samy Velu and his cohorts still rules!

He was of the opinion that a wholesale change of leaders at the top echelon of MIC must be effected if the party were to be relevant to the times that we now live in – that was why he said that change within MIC might start to happen after the 13th general election and the Indians hopefully can be a force on their own terms within any government by the 14th general elction. And that set me thinking.    

If all the forces against this UMNO led Barisan Nasional were able to merge into a single body or group and dedicate itself to the task of ensuring UMNO’s demise, then as sure as the sun will rise in the East tomorrow, we will have a new government in place by the 13th general election.

But you and I know that that would be a big ask. Too big an ask to get everyone to unite under ABU…too much to ask of too many people and too many groups with too little time to do so. Maybe like what my friend said…change will start now but it really is the 14th GE that will put all that matters to us into perspective - the leaders we want, the politicians we need and the democratic process to make all that possible might then become a reality.

For now we can comfort ourselves with these thoughts. This 13th general election will certainly define our future. It will be many things to different people - but if there is one thing we can all agree to it is this:

For the first time in our history we are having an election that is genuinely unpredictable.

Whether by design or by default Barisan Nasional has finally and grudgingly delivered to us the closest thing to a fair and free election. It is now up to us to do the right thing for ourselves.

We are already in a new an unpredictable era where the voices of many who has been ignored for so long, can no longer be ignored. The politicians will have to come to grips with our demands for accountability and openness in everything that they do. That is why who we have to represent us, who are our leaders and who will be in government at state and federal level after the 12th general election will be decided by us – the Rakyat!

So why are we settling for anything less then the best?

Why is DAP settling for Anwar Ibrahim to lead Pakatan Rakyat? We know what Kit Siang and Karpal have said of Anwar in the past. We know the Chinese in DAP and elsewhere are settling for Anwar as leader of Pakatan Rakyat by default –there is simply no one better on the horizon who they think can lead the opposition for now. So it is a case of just ignoring the obvious and put up with him just so that we can get UMNO out. And then what?

Put Anwar on a leash and make sure he does not stray too far away from the path of righteousness?  DAP makes a deal with Anwar to leave the Chinese well alone to enable them to do what they know best – make money for themselves while they allow Anwar to do what he has wanted to be – be Prime Minister? And who are the Rakyat to say otherwise? 

And what about the others that comes with Anwar? Allow them to take positions within government? As UMNO has allow its own to be Chairman of Felda, Risda? Allow these cronies to pick what they want from lucrative government projects, tenders and business opportunities as is done by UMNO? Are we going to have more Syed Mokhtar’s, Vincent Tan’s or those millionaies and billionaires that Mahathir said he was responsible in making – only this time Anwar will claim that he had a hand in making them? And who will be head of Petronas? Of EPU and who will be Ministers of JKR, Treasury and the other plump Ministries where the business of making money for politicians far out weigh that of serving the people?

And too soon we will see another Razak Baginda in  the making or another KJ strutting amongst us and in the corridors of powers! God! - the thought of that sickens me to the very core of my being!

And for the Malays that think we must have a Malay as Prime Minister -  let me remind you of this. Was not Mahathir and Najib Malays? Now tell me would you rather not have Guan Eng in their place as Prime Minister?

And as for those that say Nurrul is not ready to lead – tell me did you not follow what happened in Thailand when Yingluck became Prime Minister? When Megawati Sukarno became President of Indonesia? And who do you think would lead Burma if free and fair elections were to be held today if not Aung Sang Sui Kyi?

I know that the usual suspects will hantam me for going back to the same mantra – but excellence in the calibre of people seeking public service is not only a requirement but a prerequisite if one is to be considered worthy of selection – what more serve. We have had people of this calibre before and we can have them again in the future if we choose wisely.     

Let us all get out of our comfort zone. It is not the government duty to level the disproportion in society caused by race, religion or the unequal distribution of wealth and opportunities. It is ours! First we need to choose the right people to represent us. We must do as they do in America.  In the USA they choose the best person to fill any post in government from any party.

Politics is a noble art that can have dignity and compassion within it. Let us get beyond race, religion and petty prejudices of gender in choosing our leaders. Let us once again have leaders that you and I can call our own. Leaders who will answer to the people who put them there.

How invigorating would it be to have Karpal Singh as Governor of Penang! And Kit Siang of Malacca? Guan Eng and Nurrul at the very top of Government? And to have Sabah, Sarawak and Semenanjong all represented in Cabinet based on their ability to serve and their allegiance to king, county and the Rakyat! 

I have seen this in Malaysia many years ago under TUNKU. I want to see it again today for my children and grandchildren before I close my eyes and leave this earth. Amen.

I totally disagree with you on this.

For the past 54 years, the Malays voted for UMNO, BN. Supporting them and giving them the power to rule this country. Even if the Malays knew that the ruling party was so corrupted, they still vote for them.

Why? the answer is simple.
 

Under UMNO, BN's ruling, the Malays are protected with Bumiputra status and awarded with countless privileges. Especially Bumiputra Discount for purchasing a house.

If the Malays vote for the opposition, they feared that all these privileges will gone as well.

Let me give you a real life scenario.
 

Employee X & Employee Y with the same qualification joined & worked in the same company at the same time.
Employee X was favoured by the boss because he was the next of kin of the boss. So he was awarded special allowances, bonuses and get promoted, even though he didn't perform well in his work.
On the other hand, Employee Y with no personal connection to the boss, work hard and performed superbly. But, all he got is only a small amount of increment.
So if you are Employee Y, how would you feel?
Frustrated? Anger? Despair?
He would definitely resign and work in another company.
What if,the company was to sold to another company who practice the policy of fair and square to all employees regardless of their background.
Employee X will of course worried about his allowances, bonus & increment. Because, he knew that he is unworthy for those privileges compared to Employee Y. Ultimately,employee X will lose all the privileges he once had.
If you are Employee X, would you want this to happen?
Of course you will strongly oppose to sell the company.
 

Back to the recent demonstration of BERSIH 2.0 and Himpunan Hijau 2.0
How many of the Malays showed up?
In BERSIH 2.0, most of the Malays came from Kelantan & Terengganu which is a PAS stronghold. They drive all the way to KL to participate. Whereas the local Malays either stayed at home,go for shopping or don't even bothered to come out and join the rally.
In Kuantan, Most of the participants attended the Himpunan Hijau 2.0 are Chinese. Or I should say, completely Chinese. Even in other states & overseas, I hardly see a Malay stand out and protest against Lynas.
The Malays don't even bother about the environmental issues.
If all the Malays from Kuantan came out to protest against Lynas,I can guarantee you that the government will banned and closed Lynas refinery immediately.
Because UMNO feared that they will lose their power in Pahang.
The Malays are the accomplice of UMNO & BN that led Malaysia to become one of the notorious corrupted government.
Every year, the National audit report showed the public that the government agencies purchase materials with price far more higher than the market price.
Its too obvious that all these involves corruption & bribery.
But no action was taken, and it happens every year, again & again.
What do the Malays do on these issues?
they vote UMNO, BN every 5 years, again & again.
 

The truth is, many Malays like you are aware of the corruption & the unfairness. However, only a very small percentage of Malays like you will stand up against these.
 

So please STOP SAYING : "THE CHINESE MUST STOP BLAMING THE MALAYS!"

Fully agreed with anonymous March 5, 2012 3:58:00. Yes! Chinese should not stop blaming the Malays. They should continue blaming the Malays. After all Malays still continuously voting for UMNO years after years since 1955 first election. In fact I would suggest that blaming is not enough! What good blaming game is except to sooth your own primordial battered ego. Chinese should do something more radical. Blaming game is just a mere verbal masturbation. Chinese should transform blaming game to semething more concrete. Chinese should take action! Just like what Chinese in Singapore did in 1965. Chinese should unite and demand their own country separated from the Malays! That is what Chinese really really want! That is what Chinese really really desire! The only question is do the Chinese really have balls to demand that?

UMNO WILL FALL. I TELL YOU, UMNO WILL FALL!

Let us be clear on a few things.

Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa is a comic but disruptive rag-tag-has-been-band of (ahem!) warriors for the advancement of Ketuanan Melayu. They are also the self appointed ‘army’ to spearhead Malay awareness of the threat (which is really non-existent – but do not tell them that yet!) from the non-Malays to the survival of the Malays and Islam in Malaysia.

Ibrahim Ali and Perkasa are so because UMNO wants them in that role. And because UMNO says it is okay this General Ibrahim Ali, aka Berahim Beruk, can strut around in his ‘General’ persona waving a keris ‘leading’ his goons into ‘battle’ saying whatever they want without being harassed by PDRM. Financial and logistical support for Perkasa to do all this comes from UMNO. What Berahim Beruk pockets for himself and what he uses for his ‘perjuangan’ is for him to know…but it will be enough for him to continue with his ‘perjuangan’ for now!

The Mahasiswa, on the other hand, were beaten up by PDRM because it would not do for UMNO to have Malay University students agitating for the ouster of UMNO. If what it takes is physically harming Malay student activist to cower them into compliance with the demand of UMNO that they cease and desists from any anti UMNO activities and any call for ‘academic freedom’ – then PDRM will do it. Any death of these Malays students, if it so happens, will be deemed to be collateral damage by UMNO in their fight for political survival – as Memali had been so considered!

The same tactics are now being unleashed upon the opposition. Physical intimidation of Pakatan Rakyat leaders is now SOP (standard operating procedure) for UMNO thugs and PDRM. No other tactics by UMNO have been able to persuade the Rakyat from not turning up at these opposition rallies. When cash handouts and promises of future goodies and subsidies no longer work, UMNO is no slouch in using physical intimidation and whatever government machinery at their disposal to get the results they want. And for this they have PDRM, RELA, UMNO Youths, paid thugs and gangsters and of course the ARMY!

Causing disruption with racist slurs, vulgarities and loud noises are normal tactics used by UMNO thugs to disrupt PR ceramahs. As these tactics fails the next level is physical assault of PR leaders and supporters - as is being done now. It is one thing to set these UMNO thugs on non-Malays at these PR ceramahs and gatherings but I think the ramifications of their recent attacks on Nurrul, Anwar and other Malays who are with ABU will be UMNO’s undoing at the 13th general elections!

It is obvious that UMNO’s have decided that they need to resort to these tactics out of a sense of desperation to the impending doom they know is overwhelming them as the forces against UMNO and BN continues to gain momentum day by day.

There is no longer that air of bravado and confident that has been UMNO’s until recently. All the sins that UMNO has been perpetrating throughout their charmed political life while in government are now coming back to haunt them with gusto!

How did Najib think he could escape the cry for justice from Altantuya even if she was no longer with us?

How can this BN government think it can ignore the demand for an accounting for the unnecessary death of Teoh Beng Hock, Kugan, Aminurasyid and Sarbaini from the Rakyat?

The dead cannot cry…we can! And we will not be acquiescing to this BN’s government insistence that they are innocent of blame in these deaths.

How arrogant can this BN government be to think that it can stonewall another financial abuse of the trust placed upon them by the people as evidenced by the NFC debacle – just another scam in a long line of financial plundering by this UMNO led BN government of the Rakyat’s money!

What is becoming increasingly obvious is that all ‘good things’ for crooked politicians must come to an end.

Suharto was forced to resign only 72 after he was elected unopposed as President of Indonesia for a seventh time! He went despite the endorsement of his hand picked People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) representing the military and the people. He went despite having total control over political and military power.

The circumstances and events that precededed  Suharto's downfall are the same circumstances and events that UMNO now faces.

Despite the cash giveaways by UMNO, despite the slew of announced but yet to be implemented economic initiatives that UMNO says will make Malaysia a high income economy, despite anything that this BN government has done – nothing can disguise the fact that Malaysia is in serious financial and economic difficulties!

We have debts of over 300 billion. There are signs of mass dissatisfaction from its people because the costs of living is increasing at a rate that earnings can never hope to keep up with. What we earn today buy much less then what we could buy yesterday – what more years ago! And yet we have families of these political elites with insane wealth living the life of the rich and famous without compassion and understanding of the plight of the critical mass that will vote their benefactors in or out of office! And this Rosmah, FLOM (Fat Lady of Malaysia) is the very personification of this insanity!

Like Indonesia in the May of 1998 when Suharto was forced from office, the level of opposition to this UMNO led BN government is high and well organized.

Our people are no longer stoic in their acceptance of the adverse consequences of over 50 years of UMNO mismanagement and abuse of their country’s resources and wealth. Investors are wary of putting or leaving their money in Malaysia. Billionaires and millionaires that Mahthir claims to have created are now cashing out and prefer to park their money elsewhere.

Only Barisan Nasional political elites and their cronies are complaint because for them their meal ticket is UMNO.

The 12th general election of 2008 caught UMNO unaware with the ferocity of the people’s anger in wanting to register their disgust with UMNO by voting for the opposition! If anything UMNO knows that the situation for them in this coming 13th general election will at worst, be a total rejection by the electorate for UMNO, at best they will be left with enough seats to form a respectable opposition in Parliament! Both options do not sit easily with UMNO.

And how all this will change if the Police and the Army sympathies starts to tilt towards the Rakyat! If the Police and Army decides to no longer ‘protect’ Najib and UMNO and BN – and allow the Rakyat to show their anger towards BN? What do you think will happen?

Very quickly this BN government will collapse totally. There may be violence on our street – but only against UMNO and BN. There will be massive demonstration demanding accountability for evil deeds done while in government. There will be demands for change  - change towards an accounting for the insane wealth UMNO’s political elite has amassed for themselves. And very quickly the critical mass will demand for transparency and accountability in government. But all this will happen only if the Army and PDRM can finally see the duplicity of UMNO in using them to prop up UMNO’s evil regime that has cause so much misery and chaos for the people for so long a time! There are good people in PDRM and the Armed Forces – it is only when good people keep quiet that evil can be done by others!

What is left now is for us to see how UMNO will go. Through the ballot box or ‘otherwise!’ And the consequences of ‘otherwise’ for UMNO would still be defeat! For now on with  
ABU!

CRIMINALITY AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL OF GOVERNMENT. CORRUPTION AT THE LOWEST!

In the respectful silence that surrounds those who are terminally ill, we, the living, watch as they struggle for breath with the help of an oxygen mask. For hours there has been no sign of consciousness. Death is near. While those who are about to leave us are peaceful in their last moments, we who are left behind are not. We cry. We pray. We implore heaven and earth to give us more time with our love ones. And when all else fail, we hope for one last conscious moment from the dying to tell them again of our love for them.

Those who have been at bedside vigils as their love ones leave this earthly bounds will know of these moments just before we lose them.

My Friends we are now losing our MALAYSIA! It has suffered from over fifty years of utter neglect and great abuse. It is slowly but surely slipping away from us under the burden and terminal havoc that UMNO has wreck upon it. 

Every Ministry, every government department and every agency and every government machinery and more in Malaysia, has been politicised and/or personalised.

Politicised for the vested interest of this UMNO led Barisan Nasional regime.

Personalised for the vested personal interest of those within these organizations without whose assist UMNO cannot inflict their corrupt political will upon them.
 
We have an authoritarian government that controls the army, the police, parliament, government and the elections not for the good of its people but for their hold on power.

Do we have any honest men and women left in government and in politics?

YES WE DO!

But against the onslaught of a corrupt and self centred Barisan Nasional these honest men and women can do nothing to stem the rot that permeates every nook and cranny of our nation.

ONLY WE THE PEOPLE CAN STAND IN THEIR WAY AND THAT TOO ONLY IF WE HAVE THE NUMBERS!
 
Let us look at what is happening in Malaysia today. The two most powerful forces within our country today are the Armed Forces and PDRM. The head of the Army and of PDRM is decided by the Prime Minister/UMNO with a some leeway given to the need to not totally ignore protocol when making these appointments – but ultimately these appointees are beholden to the Prime Minister for their appointments.

In PDRM, after the IGP comes the heads of Departments. Let us take the CID. We have seen the Director of CID prosecuted for corruption and his so called abuse of his executive powers while Director of CID. He was dragged through the courts on trumped up charges and in the process humiliated and lost any chances of career advancement within PDRM. We saw this good, honest and decent man make a stand against being roll over by a government gone mad! And ultimately he won but at what costs to himself and his family? A lifetime of service ignored to serve the interest of those who serve the interest of their political masters!

But decency and fairness has never been a trait of this UMNO led Barisan Nasional government! For UMNO humiliating another Malay, be it the Chief Justice, a Director of CID or even its own DPM is par for the course if it serves UMNO’s purpose!   

Further down the PDRM chain of command are those involved in operational duties -  like the riot squad. We have seen them being used time and time again to harass the Rakyat and to physically intimidate activists from NGO’s and civil liberty groups.

Those within PDRM who are the face of the POLICE – those policemen on the ground  - are either on the take or killing suspects in custody if not whqacking them close to death!

So from the IGP down to the policemen walking the streets the police force is suspect! Are they any honest policemen left in the force? Certainly they are – but as we know, it only takes one black sheep to taint the whole force. When from the IGP down the force is tainted what hope do these honest cops have? 

Take the Armed Forces. They take their orders from the government of the day and we already know whom the bloody government of the day is.

But the big money in the Army is the civilian side that manages the army and decides on its purchases from food, medical requirements, providing barracks and housing for its men and officers to the purchase and maintenance of its weapon and equipments.

Tell me, how many ex-KSU’s from MINDEF are now working with the very same companies that supplies MINDEF requirements after they retire?

How many Generals are now in business? How many Colonels and Majors are now ‘managing’ their own business supplying MINDEF requirements from Maggi Mee to Guns and Ammunitions?

If even at this lower level the ARMY compromises itself, what about the purchases of Submarines, Tanks and Aircrafts and Vehicles?

You all remember the decision made to LEASE the Army vehicle requirements –the cars used in the Army? This led to a situation where the cost to repair  these vehicles became more expensive then the costs of buying them!

I need not go into the cost of buying submarines, helicopters, aircrafts, ships, and patrol boats, tanks - every single MINDEF requirement is controlled at its source by UMNO politicians! And that is why MINDEF is haemorrhaging billions of Ringgits! And this was hine into a fine art under Najib tenure as Minister of Defense with the able assist of his FLOM (Fat Lady of Malaysia!) aka TTPLOM (The Ten Percent Lady of Malaysia!)  

When can we see PDRM and the Armed Forces able to manage themselves in a mature, responsible and non-political way and prove to the people that they have come of age? Definitely not under this Barisan Nasional government!

What is happening in PDRM and the Army is typical of the endemic corruption and abuse of executive power now running rampant within this UMNO led Barisan Nasional government – and it is so because the politics of patronage and money is the only way UMNO knows to exist.  
    
POLITICAL MATURITY NEVER CAME TO UMNO. 
IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT MONEY.

The tragedy for UMNO is that it does not believe in anything other then money! Its President thinks so, its political elites thinks so and every UMNO member thinks so. The lure of money, what they can do with money and what money can do for them dominates every aspect of UMNO and occupies the thinking process from the political elites to the cawangan level in UMNO. From their PWTC that costs millions and millions to build to the lifestyle they lead, the ostentatious lifestyle of leaders past and present everything shouts MONEY! They think everything is possible with money. They know everything is possible with money. And anything that makes money is their GOD! Money is their GOD!

What would be the cost to us and to our country if this UMNO led BN government is to win government after the 13th general election? We need to look at this sensibly and understand the ramification of a BN government for another five years.

You can take any government department or any agency and I will tell you how any semblance of integrity or credibility has been compromised almost beyond our ability to comprehend because it is greed that drives what they do – not the well being of the Rakyat nor duty to King and Country.

The Fire Brigades? The most corrupt department around! I was involved in the supply of buses equipped with educational materials and equipments to be use as mobile educational centres to teach the Rakyat about how to prevent and fight fires.

The costs of these buses were ‘top up’ by at least RM$30,000 each to ‘cover’ those within the Ministry and the Department who were involved in the award of the contract. Of course those who secured the  contract were not bus manufactures neither were they the people able to equip these buses with the necessary tools. My sub, sub contract was way down the line – we only did the signage work! And I had a hell of a time getting payment from the main contractor!

I think we all know about similar situations within any government departments and agencies. As I have said at the start of this article, anything under the control of this UMNO led Barisan Nasional government has either been politicised or personalized to bleed cash!

So out with these UMNO bastards! Out with their Barisan Nasional accomplices before we run out of cash to bleed and they then want our blood and our pound of flesh!  

They might have everything in their favour – but we have the numbers! People power in Manila and Indonesia ousted Marcos and Suharto. People power brought a change in government in Thailand. Even in Burma today there is real hope for change as the people awaked from years of neglect by a government that knew no better until the plight of its people even made the Generals think again about change. Vietnam self-awareness will ensure that the people’s interest will be paramount in the things that its government does. Cambodia is still in its infancy and it would be just about where Malaysia is now in terms of where this UMNO led Barisan Nasional government has regressed to!

All that we see before us in terms of physical progress and the display of wealth and ostentatious consumption is brittle and profits a few Malaysians.

We have all witnessed the wilful destruction of lives and properties in Manila, Bangkok and Jakarta when the frustrations of the masses got the better of them. In fact we have had our baptism of fire May 13th 1969 – way before any of them!

In 1969, like today, UMNO had control of the Army, the Police, Government, Parliament and election. We now know what UMNO did in 1969 that had ramifications on our life until today.

Do not say that nothing has changed since 1969. Today UMNO does not have all the Malays on side. Today the numbers are stacked against UMNO and Barisan Nasional! Today our people want change – and those who want change numbers in the millions!

Enough millions to make the difference for ABU to be a force of change. Enough millions to make UMNO think again should they decide to take government by force! Enough millions to keep those UMNO bastards honest and accept defeat at the 13th general elections!

The Reluctant Expat.

On Saturday I sat down with some recently found friends in Adelaide and talked about home. A place some of us left three, seven, and ten or like me, over thirty years ago. We talked about BERSIH, LYNAS, about the Taib Mahmud Square in University South Australia, UMNO and corruption, BN and corruption and about Pakatan Rakyat. We asked ourselves who would be Prime Minister designate for Pakatan Rakyat? Who could be DPM designate? And like conversation amongst recently acquired friends it was not as robust as I would have liked it to be. Guarded at times in order to not intrude too much into each other’s sentiments, polite, respectful and mindful that each of us will surely have our own thoughts about what was happening back in Malaysia. We agreed on one thing -  “What can we do to make Malaysia better?”

Seven Malaysian, thousand of kilometres from home, sitting down in a Café in Rundle Mall in Adelaide talking about what WE can do to make Malaysia better! Not about how good life was for us all in Australia. Not about how we can get Permanent Resident status or citizenship in Australia. Not even about the ongoing Adelaide festival with buskers and free entertainment in the Rundle Mall all around us!

We talked about going home to work, to live and to be with our loved ones again. And home is Malaysia. We know that the outcome of the 13th general election would be crucial to what we will do with our future and with our lives in the years to come. Whether we want to go back to a Malaysia under an UMNO led Barisan Nasional government and put up with living under a corrupt and irresponsible regime or do we try now to do what we can to ensure that the Malaysia we come back to will be one where government is by the people, for the people and of the people.

As I looked at their faces and listen to what they have to  say I wondered if other Malaysian in other parts of the world would be doing the same thing? I know that in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and even Wagga Wagga (a town somewhere in the interior of Australia) anywhere where there are Malaysians in Australia – they are asking each other the same question: “What they can do to make change happen in Malaysia”. And if it happens here in Oz then I am sure it will happen in UK, in America, In Russia, in Japan, in the Middle East and possibly even in Putrajaya. Malaysian wanting change from this UMNO led Barisan Nasional. As of yesterday I now know that there are seven of us of the same ilk here in Adelaide……what about elsewhere?

It is now almost 4.30 am here in Adelaide and about 2 am in KL. I have been writing this for the past one hour…unable to sleep because I want to post this on my blog tomorrow to let you all know that there were seven of us here in Adelaide yesterday who got together in our own time, on our won initiative and without any ‘suggestion’ from anybody from Malaysia to talk about what we can do to make Malaysia better!

We are all asking what can we do to make change happen? To make Malaysia a better place to go back to. To make Malaysia a place where civil liberties, racial discrimination and our own dignity as a citizen of Malaysia is respected and given due deference by our so-called leaders in the government.

Every one had something to say. We might all not agree with what every one had to say but we listened. As I listened I knew that these are the kind of people needed to come back and work in Malaysia. They were educated, articulate and had a passion for life. Malaysia needed them more then they need Malaysia….but who amongst them would really want to return to Malaysia if there is so much uncertainty about the future we will have? Even as we discussed what we could do to make change possible in Malaysia we are all uncertain about the ramifications of what we wanted to do.

We talked about the recent BERSIH gathering at Victoria Square in the centre of Adelaide. They expected maybe 20 Malaysian to turn up. 150 did! We joked about how most of the activist made sure that the BERSIH placards they were carrying covered their faces. Cover their faces so that prying eyes from Malaysia will not be able to identify those who took part in the rally. Now if we in Adelaide talk about PDRM’s ‘interest’ in those who took part in that rally, how much more stifling would it be for those in Malaysia itself? And we gave thanks to those bloggers in Malaysia who continued to write fearlessly and without any reagard for their personal safety……and someone mentioned “Uncle Benard from Zorro Unmasked….and I could not help but say “Yes that Bernard is old….very old!” Sorry Bernard but the devil made me say that! Anybody older then me (at 65 years) must be old….very old! Petra is a spring chicken compared to us!

This is what our country has come to. Even Malaysians living thousand and thousands of miles away are aware that ‘big bad brother’ might be watching them! This is not the Malaysia that we want! This is one of the changes that we want to happen now before it gets worse. Before this BN government starts to think that they can control even what we do outside Malaysia….though I am sure there are many who will argue that they already do!    

From my own perspective I now know what steadyaku47 really means to Malaysians in Adelaide.  Only TWO out of the SEVEN present have ever heard of steadyaku47….aisehman my waterface fall down one! So much for being too full of myself thinking that they would all want to know what would be the next posting on my blog. Instead I had to spell out s-t-e-a-d-y-a-k-u-4-7 so they would know what I am talking about. My ego was a bit dented but I was comforted by the fact that Malaysia Today too did not score a 100%... but definitely much more then me! Zorro Unmasked trumped us all!
  
At the end of it all we were agreed that we would meet again soon to firm out the structure of our group and to plan how we could involve and meet with other Malaysians in South Australia.….and then we will talk to other Malaysian in other parts of Australia…and the hope is that we will be able to do our part towards change in Malaysia. We believe passionately that is the only way forward if we are to bring back the many Malaysian who are now abroad because home to all of us, will always be Malaysia.

And for every other groupings of Malaysians in Australia and elsewhere please let us connect with each other and start to ‘talk’ about what we would like to do and what we aspire to do.  It is really about letting each other know about what is happening in our neck of the woods and more important, about ‘HOME’  - whether your home is Yong Peng, Jitra, Pengkalan Chepa, Kuala Lipis, Pontianak, ….put in some towns in Sarawak and Sabah……HIDUP MALAYSIA!

As one of the guys said….we all ‘rindu’ Malaysia!

THE CHINESE MUST STOP BLAMING THE MALAYS!

There has been a significant airing of angst on the social media and in conversation amongst friends by many Malaysian on the ills they face living in Malaysia. The Indians decry the lack of economic progress and increasing poverty amongst their people. The Dayaks and Ibans are becoming more insistence that they will decide their own fate, not Putrajaya. The Orang Asli do not have a voice nor the means to make themselves heard - so we do not hear any of their cry even if they are in dire need of help. Today the rumblings of people who are no longer content to sit quietly and accept their untenable lot is beginning to deafen our ears.

And the most vocal are the Chinese. A significant number of these Chinese have voted with their feet – they have left to look for greener pastures elsewhere. And those that remain are organizing themselves into portent political groupings away from MCA – groupings with the potential to secure real political power in the coming 13th general elections. The Chinese can be a force for good or bad in our movement towards ABU. Good because together with the Malays and the other races, we can make ABU happen. Bad because the animosity between the Chinese and the Malays for perceived wrongs by the latter on the former over the implementation of the policies under the NEP still seethes just below the surface between the two races.
 
I think it is time that we discuss these matters openly and without rancour or prejudice – and ‘these matters’ I am referring to are the Chinese!

To all you Chinese who resent the manner in which you are being treated – for lack of a better word – as second-class citizens – I want to say this. 

Blame MCA, blame the BN government, blame UMNO, blame the lack of education to make our young understand the need to celebrate our differences and not accentuate it.  Blame anything or anyone you want but do not blame the Malays.

Yes the Chinese are the favourite bogeyman UMNO loves to blame for all the ills in Malaysia. There are many that will go so far as to say that the Malays too are to be blame for all that is wrong about this nation of ours. The Chinese claim that between UMNO and the Malays they are finding themselves to be the perpetual target for the ills in our nation – racial and religious tensions and the uneven and disproportionate distribution of wealth amongst the people.

And these Chinese are now asking themselves why is this so! “Why Me?” Why does UMNO and  the Malays want to target a race that has always believed in the virtues of hard work and who pride themselves in their ability to survive and succeed in life through whatever trials and tribulations thrown at them? A race that have contributed more then their fair share towards the economic success of this country. Is it not enough that they have had to compete on an uneven playing field with the Malays in business, faced overwhelming odds when competing with Malays in any tenders and projects from the Government and if that was not enough, have the education of their children and their civil liberties manipulated to favour the Malays?

I know what you Chinese have faced. Many Malays know this. Many non-Malays know this – but are we not all victims of this travesty that this UMNO led BN government dare to call a ‘Government’? A corrupt and irresponsible government that has chosen to treat the Chinese as their favourite whipping boy?  UMNO has prosecuted, abused and denied the Chinese their rights in almost every which way the Chinese choose to turn. And of course after enduring these abuses for so long the Chinese are now angry that it is so! And they intend to do something about it!

But do not be angry at the Malays. Yes many billions have been spent on the Malays and many opportunities in business and education have been denied to the Chinese in favour of the Malays. You Chinese must be sick of it!

If the Malays have become better for all these largesse from the UMNO led BN government then the Chinese might not have minded it so much because then as the Malays benefited and become a better people, so would the Chinese and the others become better people. We can all together rise to the higher level in life. But this did not happened.

Instead the Malays have stagnate and with their stagnation, the other races, especially the Chinese, stagnate with the Malays. And for this the Chinese are angry because they feel that the Malays have held them back.

I want the Chinese to know that we know that they are frustrated. I want the Chinese to know that we know that they have to work twice as hard to earn a decent living when compared to the Malays. We understand that their children have to score many A’s in their exams just so that their parents can spend their life savings to send them overseas to continue their studies while Malays who cannot even speak decent English are sent overseas on scholarships in the hundreds of thousands!          

And we know that what ever and where ever there are opportunities for work, education and business in Malays, these opportunities are not for the Chinese but are reserved for the Malays.

We know all this and yet we are telling the Chinese to not blame the Malays? Why? Because the Malays are also the victims of these ills that is in our country. We are as embarrassed as you are angry at the unfairness of this UMNO led BN government. And we Malays know that without the support of the Chinese and the other races we will never be able to rid ourselves of this unfairness not only to the Chinese and to the other races  - but also to the Malays.

That is why I ask the Chinese to not blame the Malays for the situation that they now find themselves in. If the NEP has not been managed properly to benefit the Malays must you blame the Malays for it? Blame UMNO!

We Malays know what the Chinese and the other races feel about life in Malaysia. You resent the privileges accorded to the Malays. You resent the Bumiputra status. You resent ketuanan Melayu ….but look at the Malays now.

Would you want to be a Malay?

A Malay that has a Malay led government that is corrupt, arrogant and totally without compassion for its own race?

Do you want to be a Malay that is constantly bombarded by religious pronouncements that embarrasses you  - and these come not from the Koran but from government appointed religious bodies because this Malay government uses religion to divide and rule its own people?

Do you want to be a Malay whose private life is not theirs to do as they like but is under the control of the same government appointed religious bodies that think that it is their duty to raid houses of ill reputes to save Malay girls from a life of depravity while the same politician that appointed them have lives that would rival Hugh Hefner?

Every ill that now burden our country can be said to be the fault of UMNO – and is not UMNO a Malay political organization? And you have in Malaysia 9 Sultans and one King – all Malays – all the very personification of waste and an example of an institution that does no good to anybody but themselves! All of them Malays!
 
Do you want all this on your shoulders and maybe more, much more, if you are a Malay?

No my friends…..you do not want to be us. We all have our own cross to bear. Let us not start to blame each other for the ills that we now face in this beloved country of ours. And never must we start hating each other for these ills. Blame the UMNO led BN government. Hate the UMNO led BN government!

That UMNO is a Malay political organization is a cross that I will have to bear until we can rid ourselves of this curse. And we can only do so as one people – so please all you Chinese – do not blame the Malays for your ills. The blame lies with UMNO not with us Malays.
