Cakap cakap DSAI...as i see it.

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is a product of the Malay College Kuala Kangsar – Eton of the East - the premier residential school in Malaysia. An all-boy and all-Malay school located in the royal town of Kuala Kangsar. The four houses under which its students are grouped are named in honour of the four Sultans who founded the College: Idris, Sulaiman, Mohd Shah and Ahmad. The school motto is Fiat Sapientia Virtus–Manliness Through Wisdom.

An extract from the Home Page of the MCKK site here will give credence to its claim to greatness:

Amongst the more notable alumni of the Malay College are: Dato' Onn Jaafar, the father of Malay nationalism and former Prime Minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein, the former Deputy Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysian ministers Hishammuddin Hussein, Effendi Norwawi, Fauzi Abdul Rahman and Nazri Aziz, politician and former chairman of the Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club Shahrir Samad, the Sultans of Pahang and Perak, late Omar Ali Saifuddin III of Brunei from 1932 to 1936 and the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan. Pak Sako or Ishak Haji Muhammad , Tan Sri Yahya Ahmad and Dr. Azahari Husin were alumni as well.

But what of DSAI? How has his time in MCKK moulded him to be what he is today? He is no longer Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia. He has spent time in Sungai Buloh convicted of corruption and is currently under trial for alleged sodomy with Saiful Bukhari – an ex-aide. In between his time in Sungai Buloh and this Sodomy Two trial he has found time to do a few things.

There is PKR – a party he founded but yet is reluctant to take the mantle of being its President at the recent party elections for reasons best known to DSAI himself. He is the leader of the Opposition grouped under Pakatan Rakyat which now controls four states in Malaysia. DSAI is the rallying point of forces against the Barisan Nasional. DSAI has travelled far since his release from jail. Why then is his empire crumbling around him now?

Foremost amongst his present troubles is the ongoing Sodomy 2 Trial. Here are the salient points. Saiful went to work for DSAI as his Personal Aide. This effeminate Saiful then claims that DSAI buggered him during working hours….well at least he says he was working at the time of the incident delivering paper to DSAI who was working in a Desa Damansara condominium when Saiful arrived to deliver the said papers. What we are all wondering is why DSAI is working in an apartment by himself when Saiful delivered the papers to him? Did not DSAI learned from the sodomy one case that he would be an easy mark for entrapment by any party bent on besmirching his name? No use crying over spill milk…. but when you are leader of the opposition with a 50/50 chance of forming the next government after the 13^th general election, you try and wipe up the spill milk!

Something has to give…and what is giving way, especially after the recent abysmal PKR party elections is the rapid crumbling away of the Rakyat support for yourself and PKR that you lead….and you must not discount the collateral damage on Pakatan Rakyat itself.

It is not yet Armageddon within the camp of  Paktan Rakyat – but if you are talking cancer – it is Level Four! The cancer has spread to other regions of the body and there is also secondary cancer. Lim Kit Siang knows this. Tok Guru knows this. All the first tier leadership within Pakatan Rakyat knows this. For DSAI this Level Four is self-inflicted.

DSAI gave a self-imposed dateline of September the 16th 2008 as the day that he will take over the reins of the Malaysian Government from Barisan Nasional. Nothing came out of this.

He held centre stage when Balasubramaniam a/l Perumal issued a statutory declaration on 1^st July 2008 which was embarrassingly retracted by Bala on the 4^th of July 2008.

In July 2008 DSAI asked to be admitted into the Turkish Embassy on a Sunday morning citing personal security concerns. He issued a statement which among other things said:

“I was transported to the embassy earlier this morning fearing that my personal safety was in danger. I thank all those who offered to assist me in this time of need and am grateful to the Turkish ambassador for extending an invitation to seek refuge within the embassy.

I have been told that my assassination has not been ruled out as means to subvert the people’s will and bring an end to the transformational changes taking place in Malaysia”.

The Turkish embassy in turn issued a statement on Monday that said Anwar went to the Turkish Embassy on Sunday morning and asked to be admitted for a temporary period citing personal security concerns. The Turkish Embassy said it never invited former Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to take refuge at the embassy.

He left the embassy on his own accord on Monday at 6.45pm. We are all still wondering what that was all about!   

All the crossover by MPs from the Pakatan Rakyat camp into the Barsian Nasional camp were hand picked by DSAI. There had been too many defections that has hurt PR politically and has resulted in the Rakyat questioning DSAI ability to choose credible people to be their elected representatives.

DSAI welcomed Zaid Ibrahim into PKR and appointed him to the political bureau of the party. We all know what happened when Zaid threw a tantrum at not being given a “level playing field” in his march towards being Prime Minister of Malaysia. He was adamant that being Deputy President of PKR was his first tottering step towards the end game and DSAI did not give him that chance.

I think we are mostly in agreement that the manner in which the recent party elections of PKR was conducted made us very aware that DSAI did not walk his talk about open and free elections. There was talk about what is important was DSAI intentions to implement the “one man one vote” concept. Like his 16^th September dateline of 2008 that he will take over the government, this too was just talk!

We will not take away from Anwar his contributions towards the formation of a credible opposition coalition that has forever changed the political scenario of our country, we hope for the better. While UMNO is leading Barisan Nasional into another era of open government and its own rejuvenation into a political entity that the Rakyat has indicated it wants, Pakatan Rakyat under DSAI has languish where it was after the 2008 General Election. If truth be told I would not be remiss to say that Pakatan Rakyat is no longer the force it use to be. Where Barisan Nasional has moved decisively towards good governance, Pakatan Rakyat is desperately trying to reinvent DSAI into what he is not – the glue that will hold the coalition together. There is just too many dissent and voices of protest within PR with regards to the need to have DSAI lead the opposition into the 13^th General Election.   

For Anwar it has come full circle with sodomy two – back to his school days at MCKK. When you are in an all-boy boarding school full of hormone-driven adolescent boys, you have to be careful whom you make friends with. I trust that from now DSAI will be more careful whom he makes friends with. 

Gobalakrishnan gets show-cause letter

KULIM: The member of parliament for Padang Serai N. Gobalakrishnan has been issued a 45-page show-cause letter by Parti Keadilan Rakyat over his attacks on the party leadership.

Amok?
For a long time, I have been pondering over the psyche or mental make-up of the Malay race. Are they too quick to let anger to the head and, therefore, more prone to violent reactions, especially when they perceive a slight to their race and religion? Not only that but also even an accidental affront to their person or property?

I have witnessed countless normal day-to-day incidents which would incite anger and violent reactions. I grew up with the notion that if you accidentally hit a Malay person, don't stop but drive to the nearest police station or you lose your limb or life to an angry mob. I am sure most of you do remember being told this time and again.

Recently, I was with a friend who was driving. While parking his car he brushed a parked motor cycle which fell but there was virtually no damage. Even after my friend apologized, the Malay guy gave a huge kick to the side of the car, causing a big dent. It would have been worse, if it involved a Mat Rempit (you can read all about it in the news). Incidents like this make living in Malaysia so precarious and uncertain.

On the other hand, you have the UMNO politicians who are cold and calculating enough to want to trigger a May 13. Many of them, including Najis, our so called national leader, have publicly said blood would flow if UMNO lost a GE. They will stop at nothing to hang on to power. Do they care about the consequences to the country and the people? No.

They are the authors and actors in the never ending corruption, scandals, rapes, murders, abuse of power and assaults on the democratic institutions. Do they care about the country's image? No .
Do they really care about the people? No.
What have they improved on or changed for the better since the GE12 tsunami? Nothing.
They just want the status quo to remain by any means so that they can continue to rape and pillage.
So, expect another May 13. 

Cakap cakap....Common sense!

Let us not talk about a constitutional crisis in Selangor precipitated by the Chief Secretary to the Government by his arbitrary appointment of the State Secretary. Let us not talk about amending the State Constitution so that the state can take back the power to appoint the top three civil servants. Some even insists that Khursin’s appointment violated the nation’s founding principles.

Let us instead just use our common sense.

Common sense will tell you that you cannot appoint a State Secretary that cannot work with the MB. To appoint a State Secretary the sensible thing to do would be first to go and talk with the MB of the State and then once the MB says OK  -  go and see the Sultan and inform him of the decision. Of course there have been instances where the Sultan have asked for the MB of a State to be removed – but those days are gone. These days the Sultan will do as told.

Now why Najib and the Chief Secretary to the Government could not work this out is very perplexing. If they could not resolve this simple issue how can Najib govern our country well?

Do these BN leaders have so much free time to just sit around devising ways of how to hantam Khalid and Selangor because it is in the hands of Pakatan Rakyat? I can just imagine some smart-ass UMNO or BN guy eagerly coming up to bodek Najib with this plan of putting Khalid into an uncomfortable situation. Now how Najib is stupid enough to play ball to this stupid idea in the first place does makes us worry for his sanity and ability to think clearly and rationally. Even a taxi driver and the Mak Chik selling Nasi lemak will tell Najib what he should have done.

So tell me Najib why did you do it? The same question I want to ask as to why you appointed Isa to head Felda? Rahim Thambi Chik to head Risda. And God knows what else is on your mind …..are you bringing back JJ to head anything? 

And Samy Velu is now galavanting around India trying to get jobs for Malaysian contractors…he must feel like a kid in a candy store.

We all know why Rosmah have you on a very tight rein. She knows only too well what you have been up to before you married her and after you married her. So now days you do not get to go places where you can be naughty by yourself! She is there to keep you honest. So you know yourself the necessity of keeping temptations away from those that can be tempted. So please use some common sense when you appoint people to high public office where they are able to get themselves into all sorts of mischief – of the sexual and financial kind. So be a good boy and use some common sense in your decision-making.

It never rains but it pours.

In my last posting yesterday “As I see it”  I said that UMNO had the Malay numbers. And from recent developments it would seem that those numbers might be improved sooner then later!

Hadi to meet Nik Aziz over Christmas Eve unity talk

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 4 — PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang and secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali will meet Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat today over unity talks with Umno leaders organised recently by Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

The Malaysian Insider understands the meeting has been called to avoid further embarrassment to the party following reports of a secret meeting with Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin last Christmas Eve at Istana Terengganu here.

It is learnt that Hadi (picture) and his deputy Nasharuddin Mat Isa had also attended the unity talks hosted by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin. Both are seen as the leading lights in the pro-Umno faction within the Islamist party.

“They will address the controversy surrounding the unity talk before Tuan Guru Nik Aziz officially explains the issue on behalf of the party,” said a PAS insider familiar with the issue.

In Malaysia, politics and race are one. When you include religion then the mix becomes toxic for others that are not part of that mix.

Tenang by-election is there for BN to lose. BN is so far ahead that it might just be more prudent for PR to concede now and focus on more practical matters – like consolidating their hold in Selangor and for PKR to begin the charm offensive to maintain what support they still have amongst the people. It is no use being an ostrich and hide your head in the sand hoping that all the angst will go away. It will not.  

As I see it.

Whoever we are, whatever our religion, where ever our standing in life there is one reality that we must live with in Malaysia: Our race defines us. There has not been enough education in ourselves and in our children to make us understand and accept that people of all backgrounds should be treated equally and have the same opportunities. There has not been enough done by those with the responsibility and ability to make this happen to educate all of us of the need to accept that all those that call Malaysia home should be equal in all respect. All this talk about 1 Malaysia, racial harmony are just that – talk. You cannot make all this happen without a commitment from many years ago to fight race discrimination.

What we have instead is a government that has consistently pursued a divide and rule policy along racial lines. They have succeeded exceedingly well through various policy initiatives in ensuring that numerically the Malays are now the dominant race and they are in control politically.

Even as you read this posting, what is simmering below the surface of our society is anger within each race at what each race perceived the other race has done or is doing to isolate or demean their own race. The Chinese perceive that the Malays have always taken from them their right to be treated equally in a country they call home. A country that they have helped developed economically. The Indians always considered themself marginalized by everyone else and have always considered themselves the “have-nots” of this country. Sabah and Sarawak too have the same sentiments.

And what of the Malays? You must remember that “amok” is a Malay word meaning “mad with uncontrollable rage”. Seeing the youtube video of Karam Singh Walia asking for forgiveness for a perceived slight he had done on the Malay race while mabuk brings to all of us the reality of this. Thinking back to Karpal Singh confrontation in front of Parliament with Pemuda UMNO also confirms this. I am a Malay and I know that all it takes to trigger the rage within the Malay is a perceived slight against their religion and race. This was what triggered the May 13 riot of 1969 and this is what is now making all of us, the Malays included, uneasy and uncertain of what the future holds for us and our country – our children. It does not help that we now have politicians who are only too willing to play the race card from both, the government and the opposition camps ...and more worrying they have the numbers to ensure that their power base is strong enough for them to be heard.

All those that think that we are now matured enough to handle any racial confrontation are deluding themselves. No we are not. The “we” who are matured enough to handle any adverse racial situations will easily be swept aside once the masses are moved to act against another race – in most cases because of their sheer numbers  - the Malays against the other races.

So tell me…do you think you can stop another May 13^th? Do the Malays want to stop a May13th onslaught upon the other races? No they will not want to….…not when another May 13 will once and for all confirm that Malaysia is their country and that another May 13^th will certainly relegate all the other races to being “pendatangs” and second class citizens.

There is now an uneasy calm amongst the people while waiting for the 13^th General Election. There is no political leader worth his salt that could stand against the interest of his own race if he is to survive politically. And there is no leader around now that will put the country’s interest above his own personal political agenda. Yes it would seem that there are Malays in DAP. Malays in PKR and of course it is all Malays in PAS. But where are the numbers?

The Malays and others will hantam me for this posting. They can and will throw all manner of argument and discourse in their blogs and emailing me their curses and invectives – but you and I know that these bloggers (me included) do not have the numbers.

UMNO has the Malay numbers. UMNO has the Malay votes in the rural areas where the numbers are. And when push comes to shove the numbers will be for UMNO. We need to face this reality. Once we accept this reality then maybe we can start to deal with it and try to find solution to it – if it is not to late.

I am a Malay. But I will stop another May 13th fiasco from happening again by all means.

The truth is Malaysia is a multi-ethnic country but many of us are hypocrites who cannot tolerate other races and respect their customs and religions.

The truth is the Malays will never have the economic power because of the graft and corrupt practices of the political masters.

The truth is some Malay politicians are shifting the blame to the non Malays for the economic disparity.

What money can’t buy for UMNO

In my moments of mental clarity I try to understand why is that UMNO/BN are so forgiving of those amongst them that have sinned – those amongst them that have brought shame to UMNO/BN because of money politic, sexual indiscretions or because they have gone against the interest of their own party. Why take back Mahathir when he has left UMNO and done so much damage in his going? Why appoint JJ to be our Ambassador to the US of A when he has been dubbed YB Raba Raba? …….And then it dawned upon me!

In a den full of thieves and fornicators, who do these thieves and fornicators want to be sharing the den with? Other thieves and fornicators of course!    

To UMNO what money can’t buy is not worth having. Who wants open government, transparency and accountability – not these politicians! These politicians have soared too high and too long that they now think themselves invincible. How else can you explain what is going on in our country? We have a government that no longer pretends to effect good governance in the manner they rule our country. Everyday in power means manna from heavens for these politicians. Not only are they busy converting the converted into greed, money politics and deceit – they are  “rehabilitating” their fallen/convicted comrades and welcoming these comrades back into their fold enthusiastically with wondrous appointments to high public office at the expense of our country honor and against our people wishes. 

Fittingly Mahathir was the first leader of any significance to be brought back into UMNO after he was sacked from the UMNO Supreme Council on 12 July 1969, following his distribution to the public of his letter to Tunku Abdul Rahman, the Prime Minister at that time. In his letter, he had criticised the manner in which Tunku Abdul Rahman had handled the country's administration which was believed to favour the ethnic Chinese. Dr. Mahathir was subsequently relieved of his party membership on 26 September. Mahathir rejoined UMNO on 7 March 1972.

In May 2008 Mahathir again announced his resignation from UMNO and urged other members to follow suit as a way of pressuring Abdullah, then President of UMNO and Prime Minister of Malaysia, to to step down. Mahathir rejoined UMNO after Abdullah Ahmad Badawi stepped down as Prime Minister in 2009. To date not only is his ability to pull the strings within UMNO undiminished but his son is also in Cabinet! 

I watch with fascination in 2009 when UMNO fielded Isa Samad as their candidate in the Bagan Pinang state by-election. The same Isa Samad who was suspended for three years from UMNO by UMNO for money politics in the 2004 UMNO elections. Isa Samad rewarded UMNO’s belief in him by winning that by-election. You scratch my back I scratch yours! UMNO trumpeted that Isa’s victory meant that the voters were returning to BN fold. Maaf but I beg to differ….for me I see the return of Isa into UMNO’s fold as confirmation that money politics is alive and well in UMNO and it is business as usual for UMNO. 

Then quietly they brought back Rahim Thambi Chik. This man was Chief minister of Malacca from 1982 to 1994. This was the same Tan Sri whom a 15-year-old Muslim schoolgirl admitted, together with 15 others, to having sex with. Whereas the 14 men, on the basis of her police report, were all charged in court, this Tan Sri was never charged or detained because the Police never asked her to make a police report on that Tan Sri. And the then Attorney General Mohtar Adullah had decided not to prosecute this Tan Sri because “for the Attorney General to institute investigations, a police report was required; as no police report was issued on Mr. Rahim Tamby Chik, the Attorney General was unable to institute investigations regarding him”. You really cannot argue against that kind of illogical logic! No report no investigation lah!

By 2008, (14 years after his disgraceful episode of statutory rape) this Tan Sri Rahim Abdul Rahim Thamby Chik, and then UMNO supreme council member, was qualified to contest the post of vice-president in the UMNO elections. Today he is amongst his peer. He is Chairman of Risda. He is also President of Gabem – Gagasan Badan Ekonomi Melayu, Executive Chairman of ARTAC Holdings Sdn Bhd, Chairman of Yayasan Penggerak Wawasan (YPW) and all round member of the UMNO first tier leaders club.

JJ is unique. It pays when you have Najib by his balls. Straight from being dubbed Menteri Raba Raba he was sent to Washington to be appointed our highest-ranking diplomat in the United State of America. That a country will usually appoint highly respected individuals to these postings was a technicality that Najib choose to ignore (possibly because JJ had him by the balls anyway).  

Now in the process of being brought back into the fold is Shahidan Kassim. This is a serial womanizer who sees himself more as a Casanova who combines his regular exercise routine while MB of Perlis with exercises of the sexual kind. Somebody must have inform him that having sex is as good as a good brisk 8 mile hike. He either did one or the other on a regular basis. In the process he had fathered at least one child and was responsible for a number of young Perlis Malay girls to come into the family way – abortions were arranged to resolve these unwanted pregnancies.

And now another Senior Minister will have need of rehabilitation…though they would first have to arranged a plausible graceful exit for him from cabinet –then possible a trial of some sort if Indonesia insists on one with some form of compensation being arranged for the young lady involved – and soon after a reasonably decent interval – bring him back into UMNO’s fold. This time possibly as Mayor of Greater KL if UMNO is still around. If not we will probably find this Senior Minister in exile abroad.

Then there are the other small fry like Ibrahim Ali and Ezam Mohd Nor…and the list goes on. 

So for UMNO what money cannot buy is the experience of those within UMNO that have already partake in money politics and pleasures of the flesh outside marriage. These experienced veterans are required to come back into the fold and pass on to others within UMNO the benefit of their experience in these areas. And these crooks and serial sexual predators are held in high esteem and much reverence within UMNO and are given appointments of high public office to give them the stature of respectability and decency that they have unwittingly cast aside by their need to fornicate outside marriage and their avarice of things financial. 

But all this aside I guess there is no greater comfort for thieves and fornicators then to be in the same company as other thieves and fornicators! 

Former Israeli President Convicted of Rape

A panel of Israeli judges has found former President Moshe Katsav guilty of rape and other sex crimes against several women. Mr. Katzav, who served from 2000 until 2007, faces a possible sentence of up to 16 years in prison.

Former Israeli President Moshe Katzav had turned down a plea bargain and opted instead for a trial that he hoped would clear his name.

On Thursday, a panel of judges in Tel Aviv said the former leader's testimony was riddled with lies and declared him guilty on two counts of raping an employee while he was a cabinet minister in the late 1990s.  The judges also convicted him of molesting or sexually harassing two other women during his time as president. 

Following the verdict, his son, Ariel Katzav, told reporters he believes his father is innocent.

The younger Katzav called it a difficult hour for the family. He said the family will continue to be proud of their father. He called the trial immoral, and one that was based on emotions. He said the family will continue to proclaim to everyone that Moshe Katzav is "innocent".

Israeli women's rights advocates welcomed the verdict.

Mr. Katzav, a member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's right-wing Likud party, left the court without making any comments.  

The Prime Minister issued a statement calling it a sad day for the Jewish state.

Mr. Katzav's conviction Thursday was the latest in a series of highly publicized scandals involving top Israeli officials. Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, who led the country at the time Katzav was President, currently faces corruption charges.

The job of President in Israel is largely ceremonial but highly visible, and many Israelis see Mr. Katsav's conviction on sex offenses a national disgrace. 

However, Abraham Diskin, a politics professor at Hebrew University, tells VOA the fact that a sitting president was indicted and later convicted says much about the health of the Jewish state's democracy and institutions.

"It's definitely I think a very clear sign of the power of the judicial branch in Israel. In order to have a real democracy, too many conditions are necessary and let me say that the first of all these is to be ready to stick to reality and to the truth," said Diskin. 

The head of the judges' panel that convicted Mr. Katzav is a member of Israel's Arab minority. 

The former president is due to be sentenced in January. Under Israeli law, rape carries a minimum penalty of four years in prison and a maximum of 16.

WITHOUT CONSENT!

Rape is a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse, by one person against another person without that person's consent.

“Without that person’s consent”…..does that not sound familiar? The Rakyat have had many things done upon us without our consent. The appointment of a State Secretary done without the consent of the MB of the State he is to serve under. For the parents of Aminulrasyid the murder of their 14 year old son by Corporal Jenain Subi under the employment of PDRM. For A. Kugan he did not consent to being bludgeon to death by a blunt instrument. For Teoh Beng Hock his son, born after his murder, did not consent to the manner MACC took his father into custody, and then caused in a manner still to be determined, the death of his father.

But these were all done within the boundary of our country. Within the confines of what we call home, to our own people and to be stoically endured and suffered in silence by everyone of us simply because we have a government that see nothing wrong in having it’s Police murder suspect in custody, nothing wrong in using the Judiciary as a tool to promote its own political agenda, and a government that will use each and every means at its disposal and will claim, as its right, to do anything in as long as the means justifies their ends.          

But what happens when the means employed by this Barisan Government to protect its vested interests requires it to dismiss/ignore a crime perpetuated by a Malaysian,upon the citizen of another country? What happens when a Senior Minister of this Barisan Nasional government is the perpetrator of that crime?

This Barisan Nasional government operates on the premise that in as far as the people are concern, “No news is Good News!” In as long as their media, their television and their spin machine are able to deny that there is an elephant in the room – then there is no elephant! Never mind that the incident has become common fodder for conversation within the diplomatic enclave in Malaysia if not Asia. Never mind that Tenaganita has made it their cause celebre to pursue this matter no matter what. Never mind that Harakahdaily has broken the story to make it THE STORY to start 2011 with. A rape that took place in 2007 within Malaysia can be managed within the confines of Malaysia in as long as Barisan Nasional hasd the political will to do so.

But methinks Barisan Nasional  political will to protect the Senior Minister in this rape case has began to waver. Jakarta has begun to ask questions. The Indonesians can be ignored at your own peril. They are quick to anger especially when they feel that one of their own have been treated unfairly in Malaysia. I think we would have to agree with the Indonesians that sexual assault against an Indonesian maid without their consent can be constituted as “unfair treatment” …as are beatings and scalding of Indonesian maids with hot water and iron have been so treated in the recent past.

Barisan Nasional has no control over what happens in Jakarta. The rape of Robengah by a Senior Government Minister – who is still in cabinet – will now assume proportions of being an international incident that will embarrass the Barisan Nasional government. That will happen when the Indonesian President, Susilo Banbang Yudhoyono, wades into the affair (as he has done previously in Indonesian maids tortured by employers in Saudi Arabia) and ask that the Barisan Nasional government investigate this inappropriate violation of an Indonesian citizen by a Senior Minister of the Barisan Nasional government. At this time we can confidently presume that the “s-h-t has hit the fan”.    

For Najib it is one thing to stonewall a potentially volatile incident when he has control over all things within Malaysia. We have seen this happen with Altantuya, PKFZ, fraud and money politics in government too many times – but when the President of Indonesia and the Indonesian people are agitating for answer as to why a Senior Minister in the Barisan Nasional government has not been brought to justice for a rape committed years ago on one of their own – it would be interesting to see how Najib get out of this situation.

Will he throw this Minister to the wolves and use this opportunity to demonstrate his commitment to doing what is right –albeit much too late. Or will this Minister be able to call upon favors of old and somehow seek exile in a far far away land and beguile his retirement away in luxury and comfort with our money? Anyway you look at it you can be assured that within UMNO when push comes to shove, a member is expandable when what he does threatens the possibility of victory in an election....any election. This Minister is dead meat!  

We wait and see.

1. President Barack Obama of the greatest and most powerful nation in the world slipped secretly into Afghanistan in the darkness of the night. Hardly a triumphant entry for a conqueror. The world only got to know it after the event (read here).

My comment on the above:  

Maaf Tun,

Common sense tells me, and hopefully you too,  that President Barack Obama would be a stupid dill of a President if he was to announce his date and time of arrival into Afghanistan. He did not slipped secretly into Afghanistan – he did what any prudent right thinking head of the most powerful country in the world would do when he was going into Afghanistan. Ask yourself this TUN. If you were the President of the United State of America (which by the way you are NOT!) would you announce to the Talibans that your ETA is at 12 Noon on Sunday the 2^nd of January 2011? Aisehman Tun you can fool some of the people some of the time. Most of the people most of the time…but not all the people all of the time.

Nothing is what it seems…

Is this what we deserve? When did you first realize that nine times out of ten the possibility of life throwing you a curve ball happens? Nothing is real everything is an illusion. To those of you that read my recent write “The truth, nothing but the truth?”

and question my motives for writing so, I suggest you not overlook the question marked I placed at the end of that title. To those of you that know what it is that I normally do write about, that piece must have perplexed you to the extreme.  There actually is a complimentary mention of Najib! “With each day he has grown in stature as a national leader and as an individual” Why?

What I do is to look at situations as I see it and try to tell it as I see it. I am not right all the time and I am not wrong all the time but I will still write. Najib’s responsibility is to ensure that Barisan Nasional is victorious come the 13^th General Election and he will do what he has to do to ensue that or he will be out of a job.

He has taken Perak from Pakatan Rakyat and now he will attempt to take Selangor. The probability of Najib succeeding is greatly enhanced by Tan Sri Khalid having to fight a rear guard battle with his own party whilst Najib is already outflanking him from all directions. That is the reality of politics.

When you enter politics be prepared to say goodbye to what you have. Power, position, support….all erodes over time. And too soon all will be taken from you and you are then consigned to the “has been” heap. Selangor is the “trophy wife’….and “trophy wives” are always susceptible to the pull of many variables. In the best of times Selangor would have required constant vigilance to prevent it from falling into the hands of the enemy. This is not the best of times for Khalid or PKR.

King Solomon terrible verdict to have a baby cut in half so that each mother claming the child to be hers could receive half of the child reflects what PKR must decide in Selangor. Will PKR fall in behind Khalid and do what they have to do to retain Selangor or will they rather have Selangor be Barisan Nasional’s again just so that Khalid will no longer be MB? If only there was a King Solomon from within the ranks of BN or PR…if only.
