A tragic country

If... the machine of government... is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. Henry David Thoreau

In Malaysia today we have the right of its people to practise their own beliefs enshrined in the constitution and yet the government tolerates the injustice done to our Hindu brothers. We have a Government so intent in their pursuit of its own personal agendas relevant to their own vested interest to the exclusion of its duty to allow for fair dissent and the proper execution of the opposition machinery in the state that they were legally elected in. We have politicians in and outside of government hideously enriching themselves on a daily basis and yet have its own people unable to enjoy the basic fundamental right to earn a decent living and live in their own country without fear and in safety. What a tragic country Malaysia has become.

What people in UMNO fail to understand is that tolerance of other people value and religion is not a virtue but a requirement if we are to survive. These same people while intolerant of the Hindus would raged with anger and self righteous should the same Hindus dare so much as to utter the Prophets name in vain.

“Treat all as your own self. Do not have double standards” Sri Sathya Sai Baba

It is hard for me to understand that these men would dare to invoke the name of ALLAH in doing what they did. These Malays Muslims must be made to understand that it is only when you are in the majority that your tolerance of others can be measured. It is only when you respect other people religion that they will respect yours. And for the Hindus it is now when you are seen to be the oppressed that your courage will be tested. You must stand firm and united against a force far greater then you – UMNO. But have no fear for we will be there with you. We will not expect you to endure this show of strength by UMNO alone. Together we will show our ferocity towards those that dare to mock us. How far we will go will depend on how far Najib will go. At the least we expect these people to be arrested and brought to trial for inciting racial hatred and showing disrespect towards the Hindu religion.

These idiots from UMNO says that they have fought for over fifty years for the Malays and their rights as Malays to be the first among equals in Malaysia. Then let us tell them that we will fight for another fifty years to let them know that that is the past – that we are now all the same people, with the same rights to live and earn a decent living in our own Malaysia. That not only will we tolerate our diversity in all things Malaysian but we are beholden of the fact that this diversity and the richness of its culture will bring cohesiveness to all people in Malaysia. We will not tolerate prejudice, bigotory and narrow-mindedness from anybody.

UMNO has been alone for so long and it does not have the company of others who are worthy and decent within its circle. Being alone tends to make you arrogant as the young are arrogant because they associate only with their own – those who are also arrogant because they know nothing better but would also like to be important. The blind leading the blind.

UMNO is now “Like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow”. George Eliot

UMNO strength is accompanied by arrogance and uses the force at its disposal without morals. Justice, in this case, is not on the side of the strong.

UMNO no longer has the ability to empathise with its Rakyat who are so different in their outlook of things from UMNO. UMNO is no longer concerned with the plight of its citizens and its inability to not be able to do this makes it harder for them to act against the various injustice happening in the country and to help its people.

I look forward confidently to the day when all who work for a living will be one with no thought to their separateness as Negroes, Jews, Italians or any other distinctions. This will be the day when we bring into full realization the American dream -- a dream yet unfulfilled. A dream of equality of opportunity, of privilege and property widely distributed; a dream of a land where men will not take necessities from the many to give luxuries to the few; a dream of a land where men will not argue that the color of a man's skin determines the content of his character; a dream of a nation where all our gifts and resources are held not for ourselves alone, but as instruments of service for the rest of humanity; the dream of a country where every man will respect the dignity and worth of the human personality.
We frail humans are at one time capable of the greatest good and, at the same time, capable of the greatest evil. Change will only come about when each of us takes up the daily struggle ourselves to be more forgiving, compassionate, loving, and above all joyful in the knowledge that, by some miracle of grace, we can change as those around us can change too.

Yes UMNO can take the freedom of our leaders. It can force it’s orders upon the population. It can unleash the might of PDRM against the demonstrators. It can cause the continued suffering of the country’s poor and inflict a policy of divide and rule amongst the population which will serve no other master but themselves. But when they have taken everything away from us it is still our free will to choose what we think of them. They cannot take away our resolve to want change in Malaysia. And sometimes that resolve, when put into deeds will make UMNO understand that the care and happiness of the people should be the object of our Government.

  1. it's so easy for a 'Malay' like you to comment on what's going on in Malaysia. you're now probably an Australian citizen marrid to an Australian madame living in comfort. We don't need people like you who was educated and given scholarships by the government but now that you're more educated lashes accusations on what happens in the country. the only 'change' you want is when the Malays lose everything. and then you will clap your hands (from your living room in Australia)and say Malaysia has come of age! why do Malays like you forget yourselves when you have achieved whatever you wanted to achieve?? There are many others like you who station themselves overseas and take a snipe at the malays u claim yourself to be. who are you? what are you?

  2. 1. I am not an australian Citizen
    2. I am not living in comfort with money I took from Malaysia. I came to
Australia 30 years ago landing in Perth with Aud $120( One hundred
and twenty dollars only) in my pocket and not knowing anybody in
    Perth.
3.Yes I married a Greek australian in London (not in australia) and she
paid for the wedding ring and my trousers for the wedding - her
father is a butcher - not a rich businessman.
4.No I did not get any scholarships. All I have is an A level - and my
father sent me to London to study with his own hard earned money -
and I let him down by not studying and instead got married at 21
without a ringgit to my name.
So I am not educated (unless you consider an A level highly educated) and I do not station myself overseas but I decided 30 years ago that I do not want to live in Malaysian and that i prefer to stay in Australia - even if i have to earn a living as a waiter. So as a Malay I have nothing to lose in malaysia because I have nothing in Malaysia - but I do care when we have an UMNO that is corrupt and greedy and all people, regardless of race, suffer. If you read my blog you will have a better understanding of who I am - then feel free to say what you want of me - I just came back to Australia early last year after staying in KL for the last nine years - thinking that things will change for the better - it did not - so I came back to Adelaide - arriving at the airport in adelaide with less the Ringgit 500 (Lima ratus ringgit) in my pocket. Who am I? I just want to live my own life without kpwtowing to any bloody politicians - and if you want to know if I know any politicians - yes plenty. The late Endon (Pak Lah's late wife) is my first cousin - her father and my late mother are brothers and sisters. And if you read my blog you will also know that my younger brother was Mahathirs personal doctor for many many years. So I am a Malay with all the right connections but i choose to live in Australia over 30 years ago. Does that answer all your question?

  3. The whole rotten core of UMNO can be nailed down to the very fact that they VERY and SOLE reason for being is to champion for Malay rights. Malay rights only.

And likewise the other major component parties.

I ask you, how can we ever ever have solidarity and cohesivess in a system whose very basic foundation is wrong.

    Therein lies the issue

  4. Oh yah, one more thing.

Something that worked well to solve one problem may not be the answer to another set of problems. In fact, it may very well be the burning oil that stokes the fire.

    What do I mean?

UMNO was formed primarily to oppose Malayan Union and the British and to get independence. Yes, unite the Malays because the enemy was the British.

Stay united to overcome the British.

    Now thats 50 years ago.

The same calls for the Malays to unite now under UMNO, against who i wonder?

    The chinese and the indians?

  5. Sunwayopal - agree. The whole premise it was built on is fundamentally flawed. Where got jalan.

  6. In my discussions with UMNO loyalists...that was the whole idea !! But to fight the Chinese and Indians we (me and the loyalists lah) must have a sizable war chest and lots of money in the bank to finance the fight. We must also have moent to figth PAS, Pakatan Rakyat and the other UMNO guys who want to take our Ketua Bahagian post...so it never stops.
