Rprise
PKR...the heir presumptive patiently waits.
Anwar Ibrahim, Azizah, Nurrul, Nasution, Rafizi and gang are all on the warpath going hammer and tongs for Khalid’s scalp. All the reserves of goodwill and much depleted patience heaped upon them in abundance by a once adoring public are at empty.
Wither goes Azmin?
When the dust has settled within PKR in the not too distant future I will be so bold as to suggest that Azmin and those patiently biding their time with him, will be left standing within PKR.
What Azmin will make of what is left of PKR is for him to know and for us to find out.
For now bridges are being built, fortresses secured and loyalties reaffirmed within PKR and Pakatan Rakyat to ensure that when Azmin makes his move failure is not an option! Anwar be afraid...be very afraid!

Will Azmin Ali deliver the
expectations and hope that we have not only for Selangor but for what we want
PKR to be and by extension, what Pakatan Rakyat can be?
For Selangor we want Azmin to
manage Selangor as Tan Sri Khalid did - responsibly. We understand that PKR's
success must mirror that of Selangor for the future of Selangor and PKR are one
and the same thing. This, I think, Azmin will do because he knows that being a
politician without real power is frustrating. Now that he has political power
within Selangor it is for him to carve out for himself how he will use that
power to take Selangor, PKR and himself to another level within Pakatan Rakyat
and in national politics.
In PKR he will, for now, defer to
Anwar Ibrahim but Anwar Ibrahim is playing fantasy politics. He has no real
power. There is no yardstick to measure his performance as leader of the
opposition until the next general election.
And so for Azmin and Anwar the
future will be interesting but fraught with inherent factionalism and division
within PKR as individuals realign their loyalties. Do the maths....:
Azmin is MB of the richest state
in Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim is not.
Azmin Ali has the remaining few
years before the next general election, the platform (Selangor) and the
financial means (that RM $3 Billion reserves in Selangor's coffers) to prove
his worth to PKR, Pakatan Rakyat and the people of Malaysia as to his political
worth and will take his place in the march towards Putrajaya. Anwar Ibrahim
will most likely spend those few years incarcerated!
In truth I have no sure answer to
these questions. No one knows what is in Azmin's heart bar himself but if you
have watched Azmin these last few years as I have done (albeit from afar) you
will see a man biding his time with grace and patience for what he knows will
surely come his way as age and the vagaries of legal and political maneuverings
overtakes his mentor and political sifu, Anwar Ibrahim.
While waiting he has been
unwavering in his loyalty to Anwar and done all that Anwar has asked of him and
more....at times putting on hold his own political aspirations and often
risking his own political future.
Many in PKR have urged him to
seize the moment as Anwar floundered many a time under the burden of a
relentless pursuit by an Umno bent upon neutralizing him politically and
personally and unfortunately by his own folly of shooting himself in his own
foot from time to time. Always in the past Azmin was prepared to take the slack
or if need be, take the bullet intended for Anwar. He can no longer afford to
do that now that he is MB of Selangor. Anwar Ibrahim will be hard pressed to
tell the MB of Selangor what to do and those within PKR who find themselves out
of Azmin inner circle will tie their political survival to Anwar's. And herein
lies Azmin'smain threat not from DAP, PAS or UMNO but from those within PKR who
still do the bidding of Anwar Ibrahim.
"Defend me from my
friends; I can defend myself from my enemies"
Let us look at PKR today. Who is
in charge at PKR?
Seriously...who
is in charge of PKR?
Where
does the buck stop when things go wrong? When PKR exco have a close door
meeting who wields the big stick and read the riot act to bring everyone to
heel so that anything that has gone wrong can be put right and anything that
needs to be done will be done by the right people, at the right time for the
right reasons?
Let
us just look at the latest "major" event within PKR - the one dubbed
the "Kajang Move". This is classic Anwar Ibrahim. Without doubt it
was conceive and concocted by Anwar Ibrahim for Anwar Ibrahim.
It
was a "major" decision made without consensus from it's coalition
partners because consensus would never have been given by it's coalition
partners to a hare brained scheme that involved the dismissal of Tan Sri Khalid
Ibrahim - a competent and capable Menteri Besar.
It
was a "major" decision flawed from the very beggining when the BN
government had Anwar convicted of sodomy. If the village idiot could tell you
that that would be the first thing that the AG would do once the Kajang Move
was announced, why did not PKR strategist consult the village idiot on this
matter before the Kajang Move was launched?
For
the past one year PKR has been focused on the Kajang move which has got nothing
to do with the core principles of promoting social justice and all the other
"stuff" that PKR talks about...nothing at all!
So
whoever is running PKR is not doing it right.
Now let us return to the present.
Who is to tell those 30 Aduns to
respond responsibly to the prevailing reality of having to work with PAS if
Selangor is to have any hope to remain PKR's after the next general election?
In this I believe that since Azmin had direct involvement in their appointment,
their loyalties will be with Azmin Ali - at least while he is MB.
But the sniping has already
started from within PKR!
Who will tell Zuraidah Mansor to
shup the f@*k up and leave the appointment of Selangor's EXCO to the MB to do
the necessary. Woi Zuraidah Timbalan President sendiri pon tak sokong?
Anwar Ibrahim instructs Azmin Al
to expose every company and individual who benefited from the water deal signed
by Khalid when he was MB. Anwar also lamented over the lack of
transparency and expressed his unhappiness that many of these contracts were
signed in a hurry by Khalid just before leaving office. Huh...this coming from
the de fecto leader of PKR that presided over the last party elections that
took many many months to conclude...and that too concluded unsatisfactorily as
many questions are still to be answered as to the manner in which it was
conducted.
Has the process of undermining Azmin Ali from within PKR already
started?
Remember "Defend me from my friends; I can defend myself
from my enemies?" ......Azmin have better hit the ground running because with
friends like those in PKR, he has no need of any more enemies!
But as I have said in my earlier piece "For now bridges are
being built, fortresses secured and loyalties reaffirmed within PKR and Pakatan
Rakyat to ensure that when Azmin makes his move failure is not an option!
Well Azmin has made his
move.....let us see where he goes from here!
